This item is not as pictured. The boom is actually much longer, so if you are miking an amp from the front you have a lot of excess boom sticking out. It doesn't really affect the performance, it just takes up space unnecessarily, and looks a little strange. But it was the only amp mic stand I could find, and it's made well, so I am OK with it. I suppose the boom would be useful if you were miking the amp from the side instead of the front. It would probably reach to the center of most amps. That may be the reason for the extended boom. Overall, a good stand, well-built, attractive, and functional.

I buy and test alot of musical equipment from different companies in search of equipment that holds up in price, quality, and useability. I dont mind the makers of this stand but in all the short stands ive used over the years, this stand unfortunately was the worst purchase yet. It seemed to be packaged securely and imo your paying more for the box it comes in then the stand itself. I took it out of the box and noticed right away that the tightening keys that secure the boom and the body were completely broken off deeming it unuseable right away. Its very unsturdy and I placed both a D112 and a Beta 52 in various positions and it fell over. This was a disapointing buy hands down.

Comments about Ultimate Support JamStands Low Profile Mic Stand With Fixed Boom:

I was looking for short mic stands for guitar amps and such. These are sturdy units which is good, however, I find that the moving parts don't really function as I would expect: the booms are sticky - won't slide without a lot of push and pull, the tightening knobs get stuck and require a lot of effort to tighten so they will hold, then a lot of effort to loosen. The vertical sleeve does not tighten well enough to hold the stand at the desired height. I'm going to do some dickering around to see if some lubrication in th eright places makes a difference, but it would be nice if these had worked well our of the box.

Kick drum mics can be heavy! This shorty boom stand really does the job well. Light and compact, tucks right in with the kick drum and cymbal stands, boom has good reach and is quite stable.

Comments about Ultimate Support JamStands Low Profile Mic Stand With Fixed Boom:

When I purchased this I read a review on here saying that the boom was quite long, and it is, especially compared to other desktop/compact mic stands that I have seen. This being said, the longer boom actually works out better for me. I am using it to mic my 4x12 mesa cab and my current recording room is limited in space. The longer boom arm allows me to put the large tripod footprint toward the side of the cabinet therefore allowing more space and less tripping hazards in the room.

Use it to mic a cajon using a bass drum mic (heavy). Does a great job keeping position, low stage profile, and compact for storage. Very happy with this stand.
