Comments about Ultimate Support ULTIMATE VSIQ200 2ND TIER V STAND:

After using the Ultimate Support V-Stand for a couple years, I got excited when I saw that a 2nd tier kit was offered. But my excitement was short lived when the kit came in and I had to struggle to understand the assembly instructions, realizing that I had to add and remove the kit for every gig (doesn't fold with the V-Stand), and that there wasn't enough room in the V-Stand carrying bag for the 2nd tier. Too many pieces, too much complication. If I had a staff roadie or a House gig or studio situation, this kit would be okay, I guess.

Comments about Ultimate Support ULTIMATE VSIQ200 2ND TIER V STAND:

After using the Roland V-Stand for a couple years, I saw this 2nd tier kit and got excited. However, my excitement was short lived when I discovered the difficulty in assembly, that it didn't complement the quick-folding system of the V-Stand, has to be installed and removed for every use, and doesn't fit in the Ultimate Support carrying bag. Too many pieces, too much complication. I guess it would be okay for a studio environment, but can't say I'm impressed with the kit for live gigging.

Comments about Ultimate Support ULTIMATE VSIQ200 2ND TIER V STAND:

I already have 5 different two-tier and three-tier stands from three different manufacturers so I feel I understand the pros and cons of these things. I wanted a second tier that was solid, stable, and had more adjustability than my current stands. I knew the "Ultimate" brand had a good reputation and the prices reflected their supposed quality. But I was very disappointed with the design of this second tier. The directions are poorly written and have terrible photos. The hardware was flawed (one of the level bubbles cannot be read because it is damaged or poorly made). Attaching the uprights to the horizontal arms was a 45 minute trial because the spring makes it nearly impossible to thread the knob/bolt. Once attached, attempting to adjust the horizontal angle almost always caused the entire assembly to come apart again. But worse still is the fact that unlike any other stand I have encountered, the uprights are not secured by any fashion. Because of this, they jiggle and wobble making me feel like I cannot trust them to hold my keyboards. The only thing that keeps the assembly at a specific height is a plastic collar on the top side of the bracket. One can pull the entire arm up and out which I guess might be handy when breaking down the stand but this is for studio use, not gigging. Other people on other sites have pointed out these flaws. I wish I would have researched this instead of trusting the good name of Ultimate. I will go the hardware store and purchase clamps to try and salvage this mess.
Poor design, poor execution, poor manual.
