Comments about Vater Tim Alexander Model Drumsticks:

Lately I've been playing more and more acoustic jazz gigs. I like these Tim Alexander sticks because they're a lot like the VF SD2 Bolero's I was checking out, but a little bit heavier...a bit more heft to them...and slightly longer. Just a bit more substantial all the way around. What can I say, my hands are not as young as they used to be, and over the past few years I've found that larger diameter sticks are more comfortable. Like the Boleros they're very articulate for cymbal work, which is great on my acoustic jazz gigs in small venues. So far these Vater sticks are just as articulate on my cymbals (Ks, mostly) but they also seem to help me get a little more tone out of the drums when I'm playing quieter gigs...or trying to play quieter anyway! On louder gigs I'm loving them, cuz they're beefy but not extremely heavy. Time will tell how they hold up, but so far I like them.
