    LOVE THESE STICKS!

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD1 General Drum Sticks:

First started using these back in High School, mainly for snare drum in Concert Band. Since then I've incorporated them into my set playing and these are really my favorite sticks to play with. I can't stand how light sticks break so easily and don't feel like I'm really hitting the drums with anything. With these, they're nice and thick and really hit hard, which is nice when you're playing a lot of metal/heavier beats. If you're playing Jazz or any form of light, pianissimo-esque music on a set then you may as well hit that back button on your internet browser and look for another set of sticks. These are great for dynamic snare, and heavy set playing, though. Love them, love them, love them. Only sticks I ever buy anymore!

    The Best

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD1 General Drum Sticks:

These sticks the best option for students. They are highly durable, I had the same pair throughout middle school. I wouldn't exactly recommend for drum set, but works great for snare and is thick enough to be used for cowbell, temple blocks, and other common percussion instruments.

i am not a marching drummer. or an orchestral percussionist. i play rock and puck rock. these are the only sticks i will ever use. when i hold them, i feel like harry potter when he first held his wand in ollivanders.

I still use a pair of these that i got in 6th grade because they have never broken. I even used them during our marching seasons for practice.

          They are Weapons of Mass-percussion!

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD1 General Drum Sticks:

These drumsticks are good for beginners or for pros, and they're really solid. They're good for all types of music and are sturdy for cymbals and rimshots. Definitely a good choice.

No matter what somebody tells you these are great drum set sticks, i like the thicker sticks for the power but the light wight of smaller sticks and these sticks are great.

Balance, attack, precise control, power on demand

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD1 General Drum Sticks:

I've played drums since i was 8 years old, 25 years now and these have become one of my favorite pairs of all time. They are the perfect size, balance and composition for ultimate precise sticking patterns that require dynamic fluctuations and also power on demand. My background is orchestral performance and drum corps but I now play in a heavy metal band for my own enjoyment. I use heavy 2 ply Genera G2 heads on my kit and these sticks extract an awesome tone in heavier applications. My single knock on them which prevented me from giving straight 10's across the board is that they are not available with a nylon head. These would be ultimate for recording a drum kit in the style that I play since nylon tips extract a more percussive impact against cymbals whereas the wood tips provide only half the dynamic levels and leave a warmer, softer tone. The wood tips also degrade with chipping and lose their overall round shape after a few weeks of heavy cymbal work. I own several pairs

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD1 General Drum Sticks:

First off... I never write reviews, but this stick is totally worth it.

Before discovering the SD1 my go-to stick was the VF X5B (acorn wood tip) for as long as i can remember. Its a very solid stick. Now, I am just about finished with my last brick of X5B's so I decided to see what else is out there before dropping another hundred bones on sticks. After trying a variety of sticks from a variety of manufactures I stumbled across these. They kinda have the thickness and length of a Vater "Rock" stick but with the weight of an 5B. These sticks are also extremely well balanced both tonally and physically.

I am currently using these in a rock/grunge project and they sound, feel, and look great. The only bad thing i have to say about this stick (and most VF sticks) is the large black VF logo that sits above your hand. i just think it's tacky. other than that the SD1 stick, in my opinion, is the most uniquely balanced and comfortable stick I've used in a long while.
