I'm a professional musician with 40+ years experience. I suppose I've tried most every stick and size on the market but, I've always come home to Vic Firth. I still have my first pair of Bolero #2s from the early 1970s which had his name wood burned on the butt end, before his sticks were mass produced.

I play very loud music on a very large 80s vintage kit, with oversized, very deep drums (12x12, 13x13, 14x14, 15x15, 16x16, 18x16 and a mounted 28" gong bass). No stick draws the sound from my cannons like the Ralph Hardimon's and the MS1s. They project the sound without my having to flail at the drums and the Hardimon nylon tips provide ultimate cymbal response. They come in tone matched and weight matched pairs and are remarkably consistent.

They are certainly not for every kit drummer. At 7/10's of an inch diameter and 17" long they are heavy baseball bats, but with practice they offer superb control and dexterity.

The quality of this stick seems to be dropping at an alarming rate. Last year the sticks we purchased seemed to begin to crack very early. This year we had two of 6 sticks crack on their very first use, which was a 7 minute field show! This results in an uneven sound and basically forces the user to begin taping the stick immediately.

I can no longer recommend this stick and will be looking for a different brand for my snare drummers next year.

Excellent stick for Practice or Performance

    By Connor Norton

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon Drum Sticks:

My HS Drumline has marched these sticks for many years now, and they have always served their purpose well and then some. An excellent stick for a great value! Perfect for first-time drummers and old pros alike!
The stick has a great balance between length and diameter, and has an excellent, even sound with beautiful tones. The stick is great for learning technique as well: My first pair of Marching Snare sticks was a pair of Ralph Hardies, and I have loved them ever since.
The sticks always arrive tonally even and without a scratch to be seen. The hickory wood is always even, without even any aesthetic blemishes. The sticks will get beat up easy, especially without proper care, but that's to be expected of any Marching Stick, regardless of quality. I use white electrical tape to cover mine, and that significantly prolongs their life and quality.
Way to go Musician's Friend! Excellent Price! Anywhere else, especially from a local music store, these sticks could be $10-20+ more! And the quality is never affected!

Comments about Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon Drum Sticks:

These sticks are great for marching snares and, wait for it, DRUM SETS! I use these sticks for Heavy Metal Drumming, and they allow me to get a loud and powerful stroke without working as hard as I would with a 7A or 5A stick (my favorite sizes). Once you get used to the weight of these sticks, they are even easier to use then when you first get them! They have a great feel and they last FOREVER! Buy some, you wont regret it!

Comments about Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon Drum Sticks:

These are great sticks. I use them for snare in the drum line that I am in. The only problem is that they are made of really soft wood, so the sticks dent easily. These are the sticks to buy!

Comments about Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon Drum Sticks:

These are definitely the best marching sticks available. They don't break easily at all I've been playing with the same pair off and on for a while now. They splinter easy but unless you play really hard they won't break any time soon.

          Great Sticks, Horrible Rebound

          By Anonymous

          from Undisclosed

Comments about Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon Drum Sticks:

These sticks are high durable, great sticks. They can hand great stress, and many rimshots, and tough beating. But, the rebound is so bad, that after I play my schools' cadence, and roll off, my hands are alredy tired from trying to lift them up. If you want the great durability from this stick, but better rebound, I suggest the Corpsmaster Dennis DeLucia Snare Sticks. Still, great sticks.

I am in my high school marching band, and we have a small band. One of the other two snare is very very unskilled and should not be playing snare so I have to play loudly and the ralph hardimons are perfect for this situation and they still put put out a great sound.

Although I am a mallet percussionist (usually play with four mallets) I have bought a pair of Hardimons great sticks good response, quick rebound, and plays right through Kevlar heads for a nice full, pure, sound and my percussion teacher was not lying when he told me buy Hardimons "they are the best selling marching snare sticks in the world"

          Best stick ever!!!

          By Bret-OQ7mN

          from Myrtle Beach, SC

Comments about Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon Drum Sticks:

These are the best sticks for beginner and pros alike. They have excellent rebound and a great bead size to give you the most sound. I found them to be a bit jumpy on the tenors, but hands down the best for snare. Yes, they fade over time, but most white non-gloss sticks do-some white electric tape will fix that. They are by far the most natural feeling stick I've ever played.

I've had a total of three pairs of these and only because I lost them. They've never let me down and only splinter if they go through unnecessary roughness. Super light for the size and help stick control. Worth the money any time!

Can't really say anything negative. I have used these sticks during my years on the drumline and I havn't found any other stick that quite matches the control. The weight difference from other sticks are definately a plus. I would recommmend them to anyone in marching band or on a drumline.

          Great Feeling Stick

          By Anonymous

          from Undisclosed

Comments about Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon Drum Sticks:

These sticks are probably the best feeling sticks you can get for people who are marching snare for the first time. They have the best feel you can probably get but they break really easy. I normally use tom floats but I had to use these for football games and competitions. I bought 3 pairs and broke all 3 in one season. I now use scott johnson's which are amazing and tom floats which are really good too. So these sticks do have a great feel but even when taped they snap down the middle pretty easy. So drummers out I would tell you to look into tom floats or scott johnson's but I also just use wooden tip sticks, but anyone you choose they will still do good.
