This is an incredible practice pad. I bought it this year to practice memorization on my marching music at my house without bothering my parents. It has a very similar bounce to a marching snare.

Pros:
Similar bounce to a actual marching snare.
Fairly quiet.
Very Durable.
Fits on any old snare drum stand.

Cons:
It would be very helpful if it had a rim to practice with.

I have been a drumming for 30 years and have been a patron of Vic Virth since day one. Now, the 2nd generation of drum players in my family, my children, are using your products as well. Since I owned a couple of slim pads, I wanted to get my children the same product. I ordered two from musicians friend. Upon unboxing the slimpads, I quickly noticed the poor quality in workmanship and manufacturing. I compared both the new slim pads with my old ones and noticed many differences. The new pad was not cut perfectly. There is bubbling on certain spots on the pad as well as the edges being frayed. I have taken pictures. Your company has always made an outstanding product. I know there was a merger last year or so. I hope this does not mark any changes in quality control of your products. I will request an RMA from musicians friend and look for another pad for my kids.

      good pad

Comments about Vic Firth Slim Pad:

This is a great pad, and helps with the "pad hand" issues but since i bought it the rubber side has been peeling off. should i just glue i back on, or will that ruin it? Or should i get the laminent? beside the peeling its a great pad.

Comments about Vic Firth Slim Pad:

Excellant pad, it has great feel and response, as well as a very realistic high tension marching snare feel when you apply the laminate cover. Loudest practice pad I've ever heard but compared to the real drum it's not bad.

Comments about Vic Firth Slim Pad:

This practice pad is hands down the best one i own. I used this to help me learn marching snare drum and it worked very well. The rebound closely resembles that of a marching snare drum.

      Awesome Pad!

      By Taylor-C7L0h

Comments about Vic Firth Slim Pad:

I have played and owned a few pads in my marching journey. This one is by far the best. It is indeed a loud one. However, unlike the other pads, this pad, especially with the laminate, has a very articulate sound to it. This exposes mistakes that are hidden by most gum rubber pads. It also feels more like a marching snare! This pad is DEFINITELY worth your money!

      Realistic Pad (Beware Loudness)

Comments about Vic Firth Slim Pad:

This pad is very well built, it is very lightweight and feels just like contemporary snare drums (especially with the laminate available for it). But beware this is a loud pad, if you are looking for a quiet one get the vic firth single sided pad.

      Vic Firth Slim Pad

Comments about Vic Firth Slim Pad:

This pad is great and I would give it a 10 everywhere but i don't give 10 often just for the fact that there is always room for improvement. The pad doesn't make much noise and it holds up well. It is also a good size and fits in a backpack easily so it is definately good quality and worth the money. It feels just like a marching snare(or as clase as a practice pad can get to an actual high-tension drum) which makes it a huge asset for snare players. Enjoy!
Pad has a great gum rubber surface that feels almost exactly like a marching snare. The wood base is sturdy. The foam on the bottom helps reduce noise and add lap comfort. The only thing it could use is a rim to practice on but it is great for rudiments and rythems and such.
The quality is great it holds up great the wooden part barely chips at all and only if u hit it with the sticks. Also the rubber doesnt show marks after you hit it so it always looks clean which is great
The price could have been better but it was average for a pad of this caliber especially since the product backs up the price. You definately get what you paid for.

      Great Pad! Good for marching!

      By I <3drumline

Comments about Vic Firth Slim Pad:

This pad is pretty good. Its kinda loud, but it is thin and lightweight. The laminate has a better feel, but is very loud. Its louder then the hard side of a HQ pad! It really depends on if yiu want a queit pracice. If you want good rebound, then get the laminate. I took mine off because it was so loud. Just dont hit the purple wood too hard- it will crack! Overall a good pad and the perfect size and weight.
