Does what it says

Features:

Nice to have all the DIP switches for different power options, but I leave them all on the defaults

Quality:

So far, awesome.

Value:

Seems a little pricey.

Overall:

I use it to power all standard 9V pedals... 10 or so. I had to get a daisy chain cable to get some of them hooked up, but that's a cheap way to add more pedals to it. I just made sure I daisy chained pedals together that would not all be used at the same time... like Chorus + Flanger + Tremolo

Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+

| Review By: Dean M. Rosenberg | 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Features:

Giving this a "9" because it doesn't seem as if the cables provided grab tightley enough when plugged into the brick.  Hopefully this will never become a problem.

Nice being able to run pedals @ 18 volts like suggested by the manufacturer.

Quality:

Same as above.

Otherwise, good qualitly build.

Solid.

Value:

Would have liked for it to have been less expensive.

170.00 seems like a lot for a fancy adapter.

Overall:

This power supply is the ONLY way to go.

Isolated grounds not only eliminated the noise that I had in my pedalboard, but also eliminated any cross-talk (such as that from sonething like tuner LEDs scanning).

Every effect benefited from this power upgrade-not sure if it's just because there is no more noise, but all my effects sound pristine and much more defined.

Outstanding! The Pedal Power 2+ solved all my ground loop issues!

Features:

Has pretty much everything one would need, certainly more than I needed...but options are always good if they're done right!  The isolated ground connections are the KEY--I spent a lot of money on a Carl Martin Big John, which I had NOTHING but problems with--and replacement with this solved every single on of them.  The issue with the former is that, sure, the transformer had isolated 9V windings to each output, but every single ground was tied together.  Why bother with the expensive tranny then??  I wish I would've cracked it open earlier...or better yet, bought the Pedal Power unit to begin with.  The 120V outlet is a nice touch as well, and it quietly powers my tape echo unit without breaking a sweat.

Quality:

Built like a tank, plain and simple.  It's been through some abuse in my rack, and it doesn't even show a single scar.

Value:

Absolutely worth it--I would have spent 3 times the amount at the point of frustration I had reached...luckily I didn't have to!

Overall:

The Pedal Power 2+ is quite simply the best power supply I have used...I have a variety of power requirements in my rack, and this takes care of them all with clean and quiet power.  Finally someone realizes it isn't too much to ask to get a product right...

Wah users beware

| Review By: Karl Houseknecht | 7 months, 2 weeks ago

6 people out of 6 found this review helpful

Features:

Nice flexibility on the different voltage settings.  Can power any number and combination of pedals that some other units might not be able to accomplish.

One drawback is the lack of dedicated 18V outlets.  You have to take up 2 outlets with a special cable to power a pedal at 18V.

Quality:

In general, this unit power pedals very cleanly and has low noise...unless you're using a wah pedal in its proximity.  I've built two pedalboards using this supply and on both, the wah pedal picks up a very loud hum when engaged.  Voodoo Lab says it's because the wah's inductor isn't properly shielded.  While that may be the case, other power supplies do not seem to have this problem.  Same pedals, same boards, but using the DC Brick?  No hum at all.  I have to give low marks on quality if they couldn't properly sheild the power supply so it doesn't interfere with a wah.  Voodoo's answer was that I should invest in MuMetal foil and plating to sheild my wah.  How about Voodoo invests in that same sheilding and encase their unit in it?  This issue makes the power supply useless for me.

Value:

Because it is able to power some pedals that other boards can't:  TC Nova Delay or Nova Mod, for instance, and some Line6 pedals, this is a good value.  But I have to take some points off for not being able to use a wah near it.

Overall:

The wah issue is a big deal for me.  I have to give a lower rating because of it.  I sold my unit and bought a DC Brick and couldn't be happier.  That unit can power 7 pedals at 9V and 3 pedals at 18V at the same time.  The Pedal Power can't do that.  While it's nice that the Pedal Power can run some pedals with power consumption needs that are outside the norm, most pedals are 9 or 18V, which makes the DC Brick a great option.  And since it doesn't make my wah pedals hum, it's even better, for a lot lower cost.

This thing is great!

Features:

Very nice plugged all eight of my pedals in including my wah and it powers everything nicely. Cut out alot of hum that i used to have from cheap wall warts. Also the courtesy outlet on the back is very nice. It allowers me to plug my digitech whammy pedal into it.

Quality:

Built solid. Seems heavy duty no issues so far.

Value:

A little on the pricey side. I would estimate a good price around 120. All good stuff costs alot so if you want a nice sounding rig you have to dish out the cash.

Overall:

Overall this is a beautiful piece and it cleans up and rids of all those nasty annoying wall warts. Do I'm glas a bought this. I am forever a voodoo lab customer. They have hands down the best customer supporty and warrantys in the industry.
