Comments about Aguilar DB 751 975W Bass Amp Head:

My DB751 is by far the best amp I own. It absolutely crushes my Ampeg SVT-4Pro in every category. I paired it with two DB410 cabs…this combination can easily handle any venue. Tons of headroom, warmth and clarity. I've played a number of different basses through it (6-string, 5-string, 4-string, active and passive) and all sound amazing. Aguilar makes the best bass gear in the business…and this is coming from someone with a room filled with Ampeg, Carvin, Hartke and Mesa Boogie cabs and amps. A DB751 paired with one DB410 is all you will ever need. My one criticism (and it's minor) relates to the effects loop…for some reason, there are no input/output jacks located in the back of the amp…the effects loop can only be accessed from the front, which could be problematic if you rack-mount the DB751 with other components.

Comments about Aguilar DB 751 975W Bass Amp Head:

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best amp on the planet. True, it's pricey and not terribly portable - compared to today's standards, but in my opinion, it's worth double the price and twice the weight!

Listen, there are plenty of loud amps available; the better ones are 2/3 or 3/4 of the price of a DB 750/1. But none of them comes close to touching the over all tone of this Aguilar beast.

What sets this apart from run-of-the-mill amps, is something that I call "grip". Sure, many amps are capable of blaring loud sounds with semi-OK lows, but the Aguilar 7510/1, coupled with capable cab(s), will give you that volume (and more) without the "blare". The low end is intense, but controlled, even at insane volumes. To my ears, that's the "grip"; where the cab's speakers are totally controlled by the amp's push AND Pull - many amps push, but few pull the cone back in an elegant, controlled manner like this amp. And it does so very effortlessly. It's like Arnold bench pressing 50 lbs (back in the day) - ho hum.

You simply have to hear it to believe it.

While I understand the appeal of Class "D" amps such as the AG 500, Tone Hammer, and others, there is nothing that, to my ears, comes close to the magnificent tone of the DB750 - at any volume.

The tube pre-amp lets you dial in the exact tone you want, while the solid state amplification section simply amplifies that sound - perfectly.

It's not the most portable or convenient amp out there, but it's definitely the best sounding amp I've ever heard - by a mile.

      Awesome amp!

Comments about Aguilar DB 751 975W Bass Amp Head:

This is a truly awesome amp! my band was playing at a ribfest and I couldn't bring an amp powerful enough because I just had a 15 watt combo. They had this amp onstage with the 410 Aguilar cabinet. When I played, I got some of the best bass tone I have ever heard! it was awesome just to be able to play such an amp, and I had no problems during the entire hour long set(and I have a pretty heavy attack). The only reason I gave it an 8 is because I feel that the price is a ridiculous price to pay for an amp, and even for a guitar I better be impressed! overall, I was pleased with the tone, no problems, but not worth the money. I would've priced it at less.
