OVERVIEW

Outstanding preamplification for the studio or the stage.

This preamp/direct box is so strong and powerful it could only be called the "Tone Hammer"! Based on the respected OBP-3 preamp, the Tone Hammer features fully sweepable midrange frequencies in addition to bass and treble controls. With the Tone Hammer's pristine D.I. you are set for the studio or the stage.

To give this tone-shaping unit the ultimate flexibility Aguilar are introducing their proprietary Adaptive Gain Shaping circuitry (AGS). AGS allows the player to kick in an additional gain structure and EQ with the "stomp" of a button. You can now go from modern slap sounds to vintage or overdriven. Its 18V operation gives the Tone Hammer plenty of headroom to reproduce the most dynamic playing style. Separate Gain and Master controls allow you to dial in just the right gain structure for any instrument.

The Tone Hammer is the essential preamp/direct box for every bassist's tool box.

Great preamp or direct box

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer Preamp / Direct Box Bass Pedal:

This direct box has a wonderful preamp built in. I primarily use it as a preamp between the piezo pickups on my upright and my SVT head to balance the impedence of the piezo. It has deep and transparent tone. This pedal is so good Aguilar built a head based on it. It also sounds amazing used as a direct box and gives you control over your tone rather than trust the club's ignorant sound guy. I've also used it as a recording preamp with some success in my studio. If you have high grade active electroinics in you bass (like my Modulus) the preamp won't help you, but as a direct box it's still good. Also, it uses 2 9V batteries or the not included power supply.

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer Preamp / Direct Box Bass Pedal:

I must've been living under a rock. I just discovered Aguilar stuff. After listening to some samples of the TH, I was impressed. After getting it from MF and hooking it up to my five string Peavey Foundation, I was instantly hooked. I'll never play a note again without this thing. Yes, it's that good.

I love that you can get scooped sounds for funk and distorted sounds for rock. It makes any bass, especially a passive one, sound like it costs like a million.

Downside is Aguilar stuff is a little pricy, but I got the MF discount, and I'll probably get their other pedals if I can find a great deal on them. I highly recommend this pedal.

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer Preamp / Direct Box Bass Pedal:

I use this in both a small and large venue on a weekly basis with a Chinese made Fender Precision. It even makes that bass sound really good, playing direct. It adds warmth and punch, overall tone clarity to a bass that's mediocre at best. I've also used the ToneHammer with an American Jazz bass and it gets crazy good tone, complete clarity across the tonal board. Turn the knobs and things happen.
