First off I have owned 3 of these heads keep buying em as backups and then get offers and sell em everytime finding the next one even cheaper... something keeps drawing me to these heads.. I use a rp1000 processor so Im using the clean channel and the effects loop... The only problem I find with these heads are that they dont get any louder after 7 it just starts clipping.. the second is using the effects loop creates a lower output than not using it.. So its worthless on stage cuz you wont get the volume you seek unless the pedals you use with it gives you lots of gain.. oh one more thing it does sound very good... but it doesnt sound anything close to a valve amp.. only SS amps that I've found come close to that are the Vypyrs by peavey. If you want a cheap decent amp that you can live with..this will work for you but if you are going to use the 4 cable method for connecting the effects loop .. of course depending what you have on the pedal board.. you may or may not be dissapointed.. If you dont use the loop it definitely has ample volume..not earth shaking but loud

Ok first off this is no tube amp so don't expect to get the sound of a tube amp out of this... Now this is one amazing Solid State Head though. It gets extremely loud and powerful!! I havent cranked past 3 for non gigging play. i have pushed it to 7 for gigs though and it is super loud!!! I didnt like the distortion so i bought a DigiTech Distortion Factory... The amp has the distortion of very old Job for a Cowboy... I play with an Ibanez S470DX with EMG 81TW EMG S and EMG 89R and an Epiphone Les Paul i custom painted with a Seymore Duncan invader and stock neck pickup... The amp sounds good and I run it through a Crate Blue Voodoo Cabinet. BUY IT if your looking for something cheap but good!

Will give you hearing problems :)

Alright, I've owned this head as well as the matching cab for a little over a month now and all I have to say is... WOW! The thing is so loud that when I tried it out in the store I was shaking things off the wall using the clean channel! It's extremely clear and there is no trace of mudd at any volume. With the dirty channels, well it only gets better. Gain 1 provides every bit of distorted sound you could want for rock and when you switch it into Gain 2, you're pretty much set to throw your concert in to a mosh pit. It has a really good solid state crunch and is very versitile. Take it from me, B-52 are a new brand, but for the price they are amazing. They will rival most over priced amps in volume and sound quality. You wont regret buying this.

Distortion like a Mesa

By Taxslave

I was a tube snob until I played this thing at the behest of the music store manager. It has that "Master of Puppets" sound. The clean channel is way to sterile, but add a little chorus and VIOLA! You'll sound like Andy Summers or Alex Lifeson.

Smooth overdrive -one of the first solid state amps I have heard to sound good turned up loud.

inexpensive... but not cheap!

By lilvpr98-nf2Rh

I bought this amp about a year ago because of my budget, I put it with a used Ibanez 4x12 cab and was very impressed. I barely get to go above the 1 mark and I'm competing with my other guitarists marshall amp. The cleans are very crisp. I never use the distortion because of stompboxes. I've used it regularly for practice and gigs and have no complaints about it.

Skatepozer

I had this amp for 3 months so that I can get enough power to perform on stage. I used this amp with a marshall 412B cab. the clean channel was very high pitched and the audience kept on complaining on how high it was. Also the distortion channel sounded a bit generic. Through these 3 months the head broke three times. They say that this amp is built like a tank but I gues they were just talking about all the wood they used. The insides kept on breaking on me. It is a good starter amp but it just wont last.

It's worth it and has great sound!!!!!

I just bought this head because my crate head was just giving me horrible sound. This head is so clean you can get multiple sounds for distortion and the clean is just amazing.

Seriously... who writes these things?

By Anonymous

Okay I've read through most of the reviews on this head, and I can't take but one or two of them seriously because none of you sound like you have any idea what you're talking about. This amp does NOT sound like a Mesa Boogie, nothing does, that's why they are the top of the line. What this amp DOES sound like, however, is like a basic, solid state, cheap, very loud amp. The distortion is the best feature of the whole head, the mid contour is pretty good. If you have the cab that pairs with this head, the bass response is ridiculous, it literally will overpower an entire band if you crank it. The clean on this amp is terrible, it is ridiculously loud and is all treble, piercing highs. I use a les paul standard and if I use the bridge pickup with the clean, its just like knives stabbing your eardrums its so piercing. The reverb is okay, but its not that great.Overall, this amp is NOT a Mesa Boogie, Marshall, or anything else but a B-52. It'll last forever, but I'm not so sure that's a good thing. Buy it if you want a cheap amp that'll get you started until you can afford something "real".

Has great distortion, that of a marshall vs100 head. This amp is really loud, would work for almost any gig. I play it through a marshall 4x12 and I love it

Great Sounding Head

This head is well worth every penny you spend on it. I love the distortion and clean channels on this baby. The footswitch that comes with it is probably the most usefull feature of this head. I think that this B-52 is one of the better sounding heads, I think it even ranks about some of the marshalls in terms of the quality of sound.

Best for Heavy Metal

By VolatilePlague

This amp is so awesome. Don't be fooled by the amount of watts this amp has, the low end makes up for it. If you're into that Mesa/Boogie distortion like the Slipknot sound, I recommend this amp. It is extremely powerful and has a great crunch!!

for the price you should defintely buy this. it sounds exactly the same as most low series marshall heads!!! it has killer power, lots of features and great distortions, with contour knob. i have played a lot of amps, and i went out on a limb with this one. i have to say i am really satisified with my choice.

Bought My 3rd B-52

By Isengaard

from Tullahoma,TN

I have had the pleasure of owning a b-52 stealth series amp on 3 different occasions over a 4 year period. As I'm not one who cares for anything "tubed", I opted for the Stealth Series Lg100a head and cabinet pair or the lg10012s combo, and they've never failed to deliver ball-out sound that no tube amp can deliver, in my opinion. I never fail to have someone come up to me asking about my sound while at a gig. Killer price, well-built, and a great sound right out of the box...

It's pretty good

By Trever

from Tampa, FL

I got this amp about a month ago and its still holding up with out any bumps or bruises. The gain channels are descent but they lack clarity. I can't seem to get a good sound out of the first channel but I just run a green screamer through the clean channel so I really don't even use the gain channels. Overall its pretty good theres better amps out there, but not for this price.

B-52 LG100A

By fray

from Monroe, LA

See all my reviews

I bought this amp a year ago, and thought it sounded wonderful in the store. At low volumes, it emulates a tube amp pretty nicely, but once you crank it, that hissy solid state sound hits pretty hard. For the price, it's a nice amp, but if you can, save up for the B-52 AT-100. There are really only two problems with this amp: the reverb thins the tone to an almost unlistenable state, and the clean channel is incredibly loud. It starts to distort after 8 o' clock. I guess this is supposed to simulate tube overdrive? Eh, nice try, anyway.Overall, it's a decent head. Not great, but decent.
