Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

This really is a nice amp. It has the deepest lows and the ringing highs covered. I am a VOX Night Train owner and it is tonally different. It is so different that I even considered sending it back but am glad I kept it now. I'm getting more and more accustomed to the sound and liking the difference. The low frequencies from the amp make it sound very BIG. It vibrates the concrete floor where I play.
Also, after upgrading the tubes it sounds much better. Sweet cleans and dirty overdrive all depending on how hard you pick.
Very well built. I don't think it will ever fail judging by the craftsmanship. They pay a lot of attention to detail.
Reverb would be cool but I have a pedal for that so it's no problem. Works well with the two pedals I have.
Looks cool and is not too heavy. Perfect for small gatherings or Church use and just jamming at home.
You won't be dissapointed!

easiest point and shoot live amp

By Glenn Gross

from beeyootiful California

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

What can I say, it's a great little amp for bedroom or mic'd live playing.
This amp is excellent for me because I prefer a small amp simple amp with decent headroom for taking time based fx well straight in front. I mic it with an sm57 when I am playing live, but on its own it still keeps up with a drum kit. It breaks up nicely at around 12 o clock in 5 watt mode for just a little bit of crunch. Around that spot, it is really dynamic depending on my pickup choice and how soft or heavy my strokes are. I usually set it just shy of that and push it with OD pedals. This, for the most part, covers most of the tonal ground that I will want to do with a gig. It can do metal with my electro harmonix metal muff pedal, but this sounds best using a serious 4x12 cab. Otherwise it's speaker sounds great, especially now that I've had a chance to break it in a bit. If you want a simple amp that doesn't break up at too low a volume but just low enough to be dynamic with a drummer, this is the amp for you!
It is built like a tank. It sounds great.
You get much more than you pay for.

Perfect Combo Amp

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

This amp is a good solution to the volume issue in terms of playing at home without sacraficing your tone. You can get a lot of mileage out of lower powered amps like this. This amp has some realy good features but I did convert the P/T switch into a stand by switch. I consider this an unavoidable change if you're realy looking to get years of use out of it. The 3-band tone stack is a blessig and it has good cabinetry to as well. And the options for a speaker upgrade is unlimmited. This amp is a no-brainer at this price point.

Good as Original Great with JJ tubes!

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I bought this amp and was very satisfied with the purchase until the tubes went out one day. But wait that is the good news. I popped a JJ EL84 and a EH preamp tube and this thing is now AWESOME. Don't even want to use my pedals now. Sounds like an amp worth fives the price. Change the tubes and this is the best amp for the money. I'm just a real normal play for fun guitarist here but trust me.

Great Little Tube Amp

By Violentist

from Boone, NC

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

Fantastic little tube amp for the price. It sounds great in my apartment and its loud enough to play smaller venues. Takes pedals very well and has fantastic vintage tone.I took a point off of features because it has very little in the way of tonal shaping but hey, that's what pedals are for. I also wish I had a little more headroom for a clean sound. Even on the 5-watt setting you get some breakup with the Volume knob at 5 or so. Even so, fantastic amp and totally worth the price.

Can't ask for anything better

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I've been playing this for about 6 months and the Bottom line is that I love this amp and couldn't ask for anything better. Turn this all the way up and the natural tube break up sounds awsome; I don't event want to use pedals with it. Plus, when it distorts, it responds exceptionally well to changes in picking, pickups, and guitar volume so you can leave it cranked and go from a roaring overdrive to a cleaned up tone just by picking lighter. If you don't believe me, check out some clips on youtube and compare this amps overdrive with any other tube amp out there. Has plenty of head room and gets very, very loud. I live in a pretty small apartment and have to run it through an attenuator so I don't get arrested. Plus, if you do need pedals, it takes them very well. I'm a fan and would recommend it to anyone.

Solid Little Amp!

By Carolina Willy

from Hartsville, SC

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

This is one solid little amp. It is perfect for practice, yet loud enough for that crunch! The overdrive starts at about 8 on the volume and distorts nicely! Numerous speaker outputs on the back and it is constructed in such a way that you can modify it easily! Plus it was designed by Pytor Belov! What more do you want? Oh, and it is built like a tank!

This amp rocks!

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I have to say, this amp is overall pretty amazing. After using this amp, I've never wanted to go back to a solid state amp. The tube sound is so warm and because of the low wattage, you can also get awesome overdrive without too much volume. It would be nice to have multiple lines in and it would be even better to get a line out for those times when you can't mic the amp. But overall, it's a great buy. The only negative comment I have is that I recieved this amp a few months back from a friend who had replaced the tube. I got an amazing deal on it because he kept it in such good condition and because it had been cheaper at the time. While prices do change over time, for the extra $$ I'd recommend upgrading to the Blackheart Handsome Devil.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

Overall this is a decent amp and I would recommend it as a good buy under $300. If you are a novice, like the Crate type stringy dirt sound, you'll be in happy. To me however, the amp sounds a bit thin, the quality of the cabinet is a little cheap and the cleans were lacking sparkle. It is a cheap amp. Although it wasn't my cup of tea it may be yours so I'd recommend trying it first. I purchased this amp and returned it prior to 30 days.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

This amp is definately the best, most organic sounding amp. My only problem is there is no gain control. But, hi-gain really isn't what this amp is meant for. Its meant for that smooth, bluesy overdrive. If you want hi-gain for a studio, go with an Orange Tiny Terror. But if you want something a bit more tame, this is it!

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

When I got this amp I was so ecstatic. The tonal quality was great, the EQ is very usable and the clean headroom on the five watt setting is pretty good for the price... not at high volumes, but what do you expect for a five watt amp. The three watt setting has nice breakup around 12 o'clock and less headroom at lower volumes. The 12" Eminince speaker delivers plenty of bass and some crisp midrange.I was pretty darn happy with it until the unit stated to develope a nasty vibrating sound from the back of the cabinet. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what it was. I emailed Loud support several times with no reply. Needless to say I was unimpressed and returned it as soon as I could to trade up for a Vox AC15.I'm sure these are good units, but I was turned off by the problems I had with mine, which is sad because it really did sound great.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

The BH 112 Combo is truly a Giant Killer. With its switchable wattage, full-size 12" speaker, and full array of tone controls, it puts all of the other low-watt combos to shame. Great tone at any volume, and it's extremely solidly built. It may be a "budget" amp, but feature-for-feature it compares very favorably with amps costing hundreds more.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I bought this as a "Blem". When I got it I thouroughly inspected it and not a scratch on it. Pefect condition. Then I plugged my favorite strat into it and heaven flowed from this. At 3 watts it is more than enough for my home studio. 5 watss will work in all but statium venues. I am a Fender freak and own nothing but Fender tube amps (Champ, Blues Jr., Hotrod Deluxe and 65 Twin reverb). Now the latter two will blow the doors off the Blackheart volume wise, but the tone of the Blackheart is awesome. If you can buy a "Blem" grab one now! For the price it is simply unbeatable and I would not have felt taken if I paid $400 for it.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

Love the break up and tone!I play a Gibson Les Paul Standard (Burstbucker Pro) pickups straight into amp and just crank it up. My Fender Super Reverb was too loud for small gigs. This is a great replacement. Easy to transport and perfect forlow-moderate volume gigs. Whoever designed this must be a blues/rock guitarist.

i just got mine this morning, and i can't imagine these things lasting much longer at such a rediculous price. i can't stop playing with it. this amp is amazing. with music equipment, you always get what you pay for... but with this amp, you get what the pros pay for. true tube tone. loves pedals. and, if you want boutique, it's designed for mods. could be the greatest thing to happen to guitars in a long time.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

Have owned this amp apx 6 mos.and I'm still playing with the eq and getting something fresh every time I power it up. All the integral components on and in this amp are top notch. The whole package is attractive at a glance. Built like a tank, and delivers at any volume. How Blackheart, gets all this quality, out to the public at this price point is beyond me!They must have a sweet deal with someone overseas, just to be able to offer an amp of this caliber for the price. I'm using this little fella as the dry voice in a tri-amped wet, dry, wet setup. So far I've had nothing but great results with it. It responds in a very organic way to any, and every pedal,or effect I put in front of it,at 3 or 5 watts, and sounds like a much more expensive boutique amp. As good as this amp is, I'm really looking forward to the Blackheart 15/7 watt Handsom Devil. My hat's off to you, Blackheart, for getting this great amp to the general public for a fantastic deal.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I've been looking for a low-watt tube amp for mic'd stage use in worship services. 5 for features because of the 3 to 5 watt switch (lots of difference in volume & tone) plus the 12" speaker (plenty of low end for me. solid.) and the EQ which is effective. Almost no operating noise (nice when micing). Replaced a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe which was simply too loud, and no tone lost imho. Not a fancy toy, but if you're looking for micing on stage without going all the way down to an 8" or 10", know I'm a fan of this product. FYI, I'm mainly using a strat with it, though it twangs nicely to my byrdland hollowbody.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I just got this amp a week ago and spent a few hours getting to know it. Here is what I have learned. NOTHING compares to it in this price range, or even hundreds more. All the bottom end end you'll ever need, or dial it out with the very usable treble/mid/bass EQ adjustments. I haven't quite maximized the use of the 3 watt position. I like the tone it has on the 5 watt setting- just a hint of overdrive at low volumes and gripey growl when you crank her up. Responds VERY well to overdrive and distortion pedals. Monte Allum modded DS-1 is full blown classic rock, and the Boss MD-2 will make your ears bleed. I have a Valve Jr head (which is identical except for the 3/5 watt switch and the EQ)run through a Marshall MC212, and this combo stands right there with it, for HALF the price! This dude is no featherweight at 40 lbs, but I like it. It is built like a tank! Bottom line-BUY it. You will luv it 4 sure
