Big amp in a small package.

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

This really is a nice amp. It has the deepest lows and the ringing highs covered. I am a VOX Night Train owner and it is tonally different. It is so different that I even considered sending it back but am glad I kept it now. I'm getting more and more accustomed to the sound and liking the difference. The low frequencies from the amp make it sound very BIG. It vibrates the concrete floor where I play.
Also, after upgrading the tubes it sounds much better. Sweet cleans and dirty overdrive all depending on how hard you pick.
Very well built. I don't think it will ever fail judging by the craftsmanship. They pay a lot of attention to detail.
Reverb would be cool but I have a pedal for that so it's no problem. Works well with the two pedals I have.
Looks cool and is not too heavy. Perfect for small gatherings or Church use and just jamming at home.
    You won't be dissapointed!

easiest point and shoot live amp

    By Glenn Gross

    from beeyootiful California

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

What can I say, it's a great little amp for bedroom or mic'd live playing.
This amp is excellent for me because I prefer a small amp simple amp with decent headroom for taking time based fx well straight in front. I mic it with an sm57 when I am playing live, but on its own it still keeps up with a drum kit. It breaks up nicely at around 12 o clock in 5 watt mode for just a little bit of crunch. Around that spot, it is really dynamic depending on my pickup choice and how soft or heavy my strokes are. I usually set it just shy of that and push it with OD pedals. This, for the most part, covers most of the tonal ground that I will want to do with a gig. It can do metal with my electro harmonix metal muff pedal, but this sounds best using a serious 4x12 cab. Otherwise it's speaker sounds great, especially now that I've had a chance to break it in a bit. If you want a simple amp that doesn't break up at too low a volume but just low enough to be dynamic with a drummer, this is the amp for you!
It is built like a tank. It sounds great.
You get much more than you pay for.

    Great Little Tube Amp

    By Violentist

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

Fantastic little tube amp for the price. It sounds great in my apartment and its loud enough to play smaller venues. Takes pedals very well and has fantastic vintage tone.I took a point off of features because it has very little in the way of tonal shaping but hey, that's what pedals are for. I also wish I had a little more headroom for a clean sound. Even on the 5-watt setting you get some breakup with the Volume knob at 5 or so. Even so, fantastic amp and totally worth the price.

    Perfect Combo Amp

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

This amp is a good solution to the volume issue in terms of playing at home without sacraficing your tone. You can get a lot of mileage out of lower powered amps like this. This amp has some realy good features but I did convert the P/T switch into a stand by switch. I consider this an unavoidable change if you're realy looking to get years of use out of it. The 3-band tone stack is a blessig and it has good cabinetry to as well. And the options for a speaker upgrade is unlimmited. This amp is a no-brainer at this price point.

    Can't ask for anything better

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I've been playing this for about 6 months and the Bottom line is that I love this amp and couldn't ask for anything better. Turn this all the way up and the natural tube break up sounds awsome; I don't event want to use pedals with it. Plus, when it distorts, it responds exceptionally well to changes in picking, pickups, and guitar volume so you can leave it cranked and go from a roaring overdrive to a cleaned up tone just by picking lighter. If you don't believe me, check out some clips on youtube and compare this amps overdrive with any other tube amp out there. Has plenty of head room and gets very, very loud. I live in a pretty small apartment and have to run it through an attenuator so I don't get arrested. Plus, if you do need pedals, it takes them very well. I'm a fan and would recommend it to anyone.

Good as Original Great with JJ tubes!

    By Carlsbad Man

    from Carlsbad, CA

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I bought this amp and was very satisfied with the purchase until the tubes went out one day. But wait that is the good news. I popped a JJ EL84 and a EH preamp tube and this thing is now AWESOME. Don't even want to use my pedals now. Sounds like an amp worth fives the price. Change the tubes and this is the best amp for the money. I'm just a real normal play for fun guitarist here but trust me.

    This amp rocks!

    By Anonymous

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

I have to say, this amp is overall pretty amazing. After using this amp, I've never wanted to go back to a solid state amp. The tube sound is so warm and because of the low wattage, you can also get awesome overdrive without too much volume. It would be nice to have multiple lines in and it would be even better to get a line out for those times when you can't mic the amp. But overall, it's a great buy. The only negative comment I have is that I recieved this amp a few months back from a friend who had replaced the tube. I got an amazing deal on it because he kept it in such good condition and because it had been cheaper at the time. While prices do change over time, for the extra $$ I'd recommend upgrading to the Blackheart Handsome Devil.

    O.K. but not Great

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

Overall this is a decent amp and I would recommend it as a good buy under $300. If you are a novice, like the Crate type stringy dirt sound, you'll be in happy. To me however, the amp sounds a bit thin, the quality of the cabinet is a little cheap and the cleans were lacking sparkle. It is a cheap amp. Although it wasn't my cup of tea it may be yours so I'd recommend trying it first. I purchased this amp and returned it prior to 30 days.

    Solid Little Amp!

    By Carolina Willy

    from Hartsville, SC

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

This is one solid little amp. It is perfect for practice, yet loud enough for that crunch! The overdrive starts at about 8 on the volume and distorts nicely! Numerous speaker outputs on the back and it is constructed in such a way that you can modify it easily! Plus it was designed by Pytor Belov! What more do you want? Oh, and it is built like a tank!

    Great Classic Tube Tone

Comments about Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp:

Love the break up and tone!I play a Gibson Les Paul Standard (Burstbucker Pro) pickups straight into amp and just crank it up. My Fender Super Reverb was too loud for small gigs. This is a great replacement. Easy to transport and perfect forlow-moderate volume gigs. Whoever designed this must be a blues/rock guitarist.
