Mighty tone from a mini half-stack.

This mini Blackstar half stack from the HT series pairs the Blackstar HT-5H guitar amp head with the HT-110 speaker cab and delivers great tone during practice or studio work at any volume level.

The Blackstar HT-5H Guitar Amp Head

The HT-5H tube guitar amp from Blackstar is ideal for studio work or practice, packing all the great tone and innovative features of the award-winning HT tube pedals into a 2-channel, footswitchable tube amp format. The patent-applied-for ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) circuit gives you infinite adjustment over the characteristics of the tone control network and takes your tone from the USA to the UK and anywhere in between. So now you can effectively design your own tone and finally find "that sound in your head."

In making the Blackstar HT-5H ideally suited to home and studio use, the aim was to develop a tube amp that sounded full in tone even at the lowest volume level. With this in mind Blackstar designed a brand-new tube power amplifier topology. The HT-5H power amplifier is a low-powered, push-pull design that produces the crunch and breakup characteristics of a traditional 100W output but at a much lower volume—via its 12BH7 dual-triode in push-pull configuration producing 5 watts output— and delivers rich harmonics and compression.

The HT-5H amplifier head also has a fully specified speaker-emulated output, further enhancing its studio credentials and allowing any guitarist to get amazing tube tone straight to tape or disk, or through headphones. It also features the unique 4x12/1x12 voicing switch, allowing you to change the tonal characteristics of the emulated signal between 2 emulated cabinet types.

Add to this an effects loop with switchable level, along with 16-ohm and 8-ohm speaker outputs allowing you to run the amp into an external speaker cabinet of your choice, and you have everything you need for recording or practicing.

    The Balckstar HT-110 Cabinet
The Blackstar HT-110 speaker cabinet packs 40W RMS and a 10" Celestion speaker for superb power delivery, and at under 24 pounds it goes wherever your music takes you.

Great Sound in a Small Portable Package

    By Brian

    from Texas

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

I was looking for a small yet great sounding amp to use in my home as I am no longer a regular gigging musician. I had used a 5150 III for many years so finding an amp that could deliver similar tone was going to be hard. Then I did some research on Black Star Amps and the ISP feature so I bought an HT5 short stack which came today. I just finished playing through it for the last 4 hours and I am impressed. The ISP at the 11 Oclock position is so close to the 5150 III its scary and its all done through a 10" celestion. The clean channel has a nice bright and deep tone, while the overdrive channel has enough gain to let the harmonics ring through! I prefer a crunchy sound for Rhythm guitar so I pulled out my trusty Tube Screamer and I have a very nice third channel for searing leads - all at a lower volume my ears (and my wife) appreciates. I also ran the amp though the 5150 4 X 12 and it was plenty loud! Hats off to the engineers at Blackstar - 5 watts never sounded so good!

    It's perfect!!

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

I gave all 5s across the board because I am quite simply impressed. I own a number of citrus flavored amps.... and I recently purchased a Tiny Terrorist about a year ago. I needed lower volumes that sounded good, just something that inspires rather than just gets you by. I found myself having to turn off or literally run the amp barely audible to play at home without upsetting the natural balance of parental chaos. This does just that, great tones, very dynamic, very versatile. Blues to your driven Mesa, back to your JCM. I find that the ISF feature literally is the key to this amps versatility. Pushing it through the Blackstar HT110 cabinet is just beautiful. Adding a different cab is going to change the dynamic, I'm sure this thing could get plenty loud through a 4x12...but that is NOT what I was going for, I wanted tone without pushing a ton of air. My daughter fell asleep in front of the cab while I was hammering away....PERFECT!!!!I have to say it also came stock with a EH 12BH7 and SOVTEK 12ax7. Impressive considering it is a 330.00 head. A Tung Sol found its way home in this head though. Gave it a little extra bite.Tons of tone...tons of versatility and it sounds GREAT!! Made in Korea!!

Blackstar HT-5 is the real deal

    By Anonymous

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

I've played guitar for many years. I have this little devil with 2 each 10" Cabs. I've been playing it for almost a year and I couldn't be happier. I'm not in a band anymore and don't have all the high powered gear I once owned. This little thing is everything and more I ever once owned in tone and the volume is plenty loud for my home. I'm glad I made this choice it was one of the best things I've done for myself in a long time. After all these years of playing rip rock I've got the bug again and have been playing almost everyday again. Get it, I really don't think you can get a better home amp on the market.

    What a Deal!

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

I bought this amp about a little over a month ago and I couldn't be more pleased. The tonal range is very impressive and the ISF does work as advertised. I used this for a few auditions with a band and although I had to be mic'd thru the PA (didn't quite have the volume to be heard over the bass and drums)I was able to get a nice marshall tone to keep up with the other guitar with minimal fiddling. Honestly that has to be my favorite feature of this amp, it is so easy to get whatever sound you want without spending 30 minutes messing around. This amp delivers ample distortion on it's own but, it truly shines with an EQ boost. I run my RP250 in the effects loop on the head and I am able to get EQ boost for the overdrive channel and Reverb, delay, and so on for the clean channel with no compromise in tone. I gave it a 4.5 for features due to the lack of reverb and no EQ for the clean channel and you need to be really close to see where your knobs are pointing. This thing packs a lot of bang for your buck. If you want a nice tube sound for your house you can't go wrong with this little stack.

Blackstar really messed up with this one

    By DDay

    from Connecticut

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

In that it is WAY underpriced fro what you get. I've been putting it through it's paces this evening and can't believe the range and clarity of tone that can be had from this amp at this price point. It does lack a reverb, but that was a quick fix with a pedal attached to the dedicated effect loop on the back of the amp. I've had a number of amps over the years and wanted something that I could get to a reasonable crunch without blowing out my eardrums, and this one hits that mark. Get this amp if you need something for practice at home!

    Inspiring Valve Amplifier

    By TubeMan99

    from Flagstaff, AZ

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

The first thing I heard after plugging in the HT-5H head and HT-110 speaker cab was a surprising amount of thunder and low end resonance from the 10" speaker. The natural valve compression gave my picking (especially trills) a nice articulated and explosive feel, and the O.D. channel saturates extremely well. The ISF control brings in plenty of tonal coloring when used in conjunction with the treble, mid, and bass controls. I was able to dial in a superb bluesy grind with the gain at 9 o'clock. The clean channel did sound a little lonely without reverb, but a Boss RV-5 pedal in the head's FX loop fixed that problem without adding hiss or un-musical artifacts. This amp is an outstanding showcase of tube amp engineering - you'll have to hear it for yourself to believe it.

    Amazing Home Amp

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

If you want a solid heavy distortion and a chimey clean, you cant beat this amp. Im a father that plays at home. I dont need a Marshall stack or a Boogie setup, unless Id like a divorce. This little amp is more than loud enough for home use. I tried out a Peavey Vypyr, Line 6 and Vox Vt30 before settling on this. They were all about the same price and all the built in effects on the modelers were neat, but the modeling amps lacked a certain tone character I wanted. The Vox ran second to The Ht-5 for me. Line 6 and Peavey both sounded thin or artificial. The amp tone on the modelers all sounded like slight variations of the earlier preset. The Vox was much more tolerable, but still lacking a fullness in the dirty channel that I felt the Blackstar had. The HT-5 sounds great. Dont knock the 5 watts thinking it means low volume. It can easily fill your home with sound. The Ht-5 really expands tonally when a eq pedal is dropped in the front to boost. Great amp for what it does and especially the price. No regrets having bought this.

    Blackstart HT-5

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

I am blown away by this little guy. It has the volume to jam with my drummer and bassist but I can also turn it down and use it in my living room. It is very high quality also. As far as the sound... It rocks! It has a great high gain tone (not really Mesa, not really Marshall). The ISF knob does change the sound from Brit to American but not like I expected it to.Overall, I could not be more pleased. I gave it a 3.5 for features because it really could use reverb, but for this price it is a wonderful amp with a great high gain tone.

Sweet little amp for the price.

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-5H and HT-110 Guitar Mini Half Stack:

I bought this as a second practice amp, and not disappointed. It really lives up to the reviews I've read elsewhere. You can get a wide variety of tones, from bright cleans, to warm British crunch to heavy distortion. The 'ISF' feature really does work vs. being a gimmick. I wouldn't go so far as saying it'd please metal heads out of the box, but putting a distortion pedal in front of it would probably do the trick.I really wish it had built-in reverb, but I knew that before buying. A few things I also wish it had: (1) separate equalization for both channels. (2) a longer cord for the footswitch. it's ridiculously short imo. (3) better indicators on the setting knobs. I have to get very close to the amp to see the settings since they're just little dimples indented in the chrome. The headphone output with simulated cab feature is interesting, but doubt I'll use it much.I prefer my Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 for overall tone and features, but for the price I think the Blackstar is a great value. It is made in Korea, which obviously plays a part in the price. The reality is that if it were made in the US or UK, the price would be much higher.
