this pedal just wasint it for me. it has no depth that a chorus is sapoesed to have i've been fiddling around with all the knobs for about 2 months and i cant get a good chorus sound out of it that i thought filled a clean sound the olny thing i that was good about it was that the speed goes REALLY high but thats not really good for anything. i would not recommended this for someone who wants a big chorus sound.

Everything is good about this pedal except the simple fact that it has a very weak signal. This is the thrird chorus pedal I've owned so I do know what I'm talking about. I was very disapointted. I've written a review on this before, but for some reason it wasn't published. I hope there not in the practice of thinning out the bad reviews.

It's not Analogic

By Robert-qQ4r0

from Italy

Comments about Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble Pedal:

This pedal was made at the beginning analog, then late year 2000 became digital! The problem is, firstable the sound on disortion, completly USELESS and it ruins your sound, and you can't do nothin' about that!On cleans the sound seems to be good, but too thin and without expression!I bought that pedal because a friend of mine owns e CE pre 2000 and its pretty good!Well, I sold it and i bought a CE2, guy trere is NO comparision hand down, THIS IS The chorus!CE5 for me is a piece of junkie!Don't waste your money!

Very good chorus, but it ain't analog

By DaveMan-pZgfi

from Metal, Alabama

Comments about Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble Pedal:

This was my first chorus and I've been happy with it for years. Since I got my Rocktron Tsunami analog chorus, the Boss has gathered dust. The Boss is well made and has a lot of cool features, but it always sounds digital, metallic, and super clean which is cool for certain things. Compared to the analog pedal, the Boss always sounds like a flanger to me. Its has great separation, its quiet, doesn't devour batteries and it is an easy way to split one signal into two amps. It has lasted me more than ten years so far. I'll never sell mine and I still use it, its just not my #1 any more.

Great chorus

By Tone Seeker-dEoYy

Comments about Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble Pedal:

I got this pedal afew years ago and I have loved it ever since. It has great sound,no feedback, and if you do the settings just right, you can make it sound like a light flanger pedal.the only thing I don't like is that there is no volume knob on it.I highly recommend getting this pedal.

Great pedal

By Rob-r.Ice

from Ontario Canada

Comments about Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble Pedal:

I love this pedal as well as all boss pedals,I have been using them for 20 years. If you can afford it always use boss but if you are like me and have kids now and still want the tone... check out Boss clones BETA AIVIN. Same sound and durability at a fraction of the price....Kind of a no brainer.

Check out the Small Clone before buying

By Zach-zaIRJ

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble Pedal:

This pedal was my first chorus effect. I've owned it for a few years and I was reasonably happy with it until I tried out an Electro-Harmonix Small Clone. I didn't realized how mediocre the CE-5 is until I used a great chorus. I'm now looking to sell it.

good digi pedal but analog is better

By Witness The Fitness

from New York City, NY

Comments about Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble Pedal:

So here's the deal. This is an extremely versatile, warm-sounding chorus pedal. It was my first chorus pedal and it creates a rich, subtle sound. The features are great: you can control rate, level, speed, even a 2-band EQ so you can crank the low or hi end to the chorus. And this sounds like a guitar effect, rather than making your guitar sound like a bad 1950s sci-fi movie like the Boss Super Chorus pedal does. There's only one problem: Boss's original Chorus pedals, the CE-1 and CE-2, were analog, not digital. But the CE-3 and up are all digital, including the CE-5. And having played both, digital just isn't as good. If you don't care about the difference this is one of the best chorus pedals and best values on the market. But if you do, go and hunt down one of the CE-2s, or some other analog pedal being made today.

Light and air like chorus

By Mr.FourTrack

from Kansas City

Comments about Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble Pedal:

Boss Chorus Ensemble...Better battery life than most pedals, but...Too soft of a chorus... good for light and airy stuff. Good sound but the effect wet/DRY is about a "69% wet" at most...besides that it is pretty good. Boss makes good pedals, in my opinion I would recomend their other chorus pedal however
