The Boss Bass Chorus CEB-3 has a rich sound & texture that enhances my overall sound. I was initially worried whether it would mess up the low tones played on the E & low-B string, but it turned out to be amazingly clear & defined still. Also, it has so very little noise as compared to my previous other multi-effect bass box. This is quite a plus feature. The learning curve on adjusting the dial controls & getting the different sounds you want is not too difficult. The manuals have suggestions on different settings.

One particular item this goes well with is with a fretless bass. The sound is superb with mild-moderate chorus setting. Too much chorus gets the sound hollow & muddy.

The body is sturdy and anticipatingly would be able to take some hard miles. The click-foot switch is also quiet & sturdy too. The output has available stereo layout.

I bought a reliable AC adaptor power supply for it as I was playing & practicing more hours with it. The 9V battery lasted me some 5 days.

For the enthusiastic bassplayers out there, this is a good value indeed.

I purchased the Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus and was extremely disappointed. It does not thicken your sound enough, and I tried many different settings. I returned it for the Digitech Multi Bass Chorus. This was better, but still not great. Unbelievable as it may seem, the Zoom 708 II has a much better chorus. Unfortunately, it has the worst hiss and drives me crazy! I'll stick with the Digitech Multi Bass Chorus for now, but it seems they need to manufacture these pedals with a bit of reverb to make the sound better & wider.

The secret is in the low filter

    By Anonymous

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

This is my favorite bass chorus pedal. It does what you expect chorus to do, but the real secret is the low filter. The ability to leave the lowest frequencies unaffected while applying chorus to the highs was something I was really searching for. A recording engineer recently praised it when I used it at a session too.

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

A good bass chorus pedal, great buy for the money! I discovered after a while I was looking for a "better" chorus sound, or more depth and modulation. This ended up not having everything I needed in a bass chorus pedal, but it doesnt make it a bad pedal. If youre on a budget, this is a good buy.
Good pedal but personally, I need more depth in my bass chorus than this has.

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

Look, it's Boss. It's good quality, but it has limited sound range. It is good for someone who wants to get that Seinfeld bass sound or a very clean bassy sound like Tool uses. As far as being an effect, its not worth the money. It is limited in the sounds it puts out, despite the low filter option. The depth also does not have a wide range.Ultimately it is good for enhancing your sound, but not for being implemented as an effect. The Digitech multi-chorus is ten bucks cheaper, has tons and tons more options, and can still replicate that Seinfeld bass sound that we all love. So I would put my money on the Digitech chorus pedal, which is exactly what I am going to do next week.Cheers.

    Great All-Around Effect

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

I finally grabbed this pedal after trying out a bunch of other effects. I wanted to get something that I could tailor to a bunch of different sounds, but mainly to add a little something extra to solos. I tried this out and it blew me away! The effect level and depth knobs give a huge amount of control over the chorus sound. The Low Filter knob allows you to apply the effect only to certain frequencies (all the way down applies only to the high-end, full up applies to low frequencies too). I personally feel that the rate knob is best left a 12 o'clock, but turning it up more makes a cool kind of tremolo effect. Rush fans, try mixing a light chorus effect with an overdriven/distorted signal to get a great Geddy sound. So overall, this is a great pedal at a great value!

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

This is a great pedal. I just got this pedal to enchance my double-stops, but I use it for everything now. It makes my tone so much better. I kind of wish it had a little bit more settings, but hey I'm fine with the ones on there. If you're thinking about buying it, then buy it now!

    Bass Chorus = Cool

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

I've looked around for bass chorus pedals, and when I finally got the chance to toy with them, I found this pedal to be the best. I compared this one to the Digitech chorus pedal, and both sound good. It all comes down to this pedal's ability to alter how the chorus effects the low frequencies. You have a knob on this pedal that allows you to cut the effect from the lows, allowing more flexability, whereas the Digitech pedal does not have this feature.

    Icy Cool

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

I've used one of these for about 6 or 7 years now, and its become one of those pedals that doesnt get rotated in and out of the effects loop (yes, thats where it sounds best). Its built like a tank, has a great range of subtle to space age, and its not all that expensive. But, like any pedal, its an effect. Rather, its a flavour. I mean, salt is good, but that doesn't mean you put it on everything you eat. Same with this. I found that out early on, as everything I wrote and recorded featured that icy chorus sound, and after awhile, it lost its charm. So I save it for short fills, tripped out passages, occasionally on a bass solo, and my favorite, on that crashing third verse where you trying to get as much of a sonic impact as possible. This pedal is well worth the money, you'd be doing yourself a HUGE favor to buy it.

    This pedal is amazing!!!

Comments about Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus:

Like I said, this pedal is amazing. I had a Boss bass chorus years ago, back when they were brown, but I let a guitarist have it because I was using it only on one Skynyrd tune (Simple Man). Back then I used it for its warbling effect, which is represented on that classic track. I wish I had realized then that my pedal had far broader potential.I bought the new pedal because I am learning funk/slap bass, and I knew that chorus is often a sonic element in that style. Think the brightness of Seinfeld bass. But what I discovered is that as such, bass chorus acts more as a sound-cleaner-upper-brightener than an "effect."Sure, you can get creepy noises out of this pedal, if that's your thing. And it IS cool. But dial in a subtle setting and this pedal can compensate for the deadest strings, the dullest pickups, and the crappiest amp. It's like a bass panacea.
