First off, I've played guitar for 18 years, and my tone is VERY important to me. I've heard this pedal bashed by a lot of people, but I can't help but think that they were looking for the wrong pedal. The tone this thing kicks out is amazing. A great example of this pedals ability is the chorus and solo in the song Dani California by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Listen to the solo in that, and if you like it: buy this pedal, if you dont: go buy something else. This isnt a metal distortion, and its really kind of more of a crunch or fuzz. Another thing you should know, this pedal in the 1 setting is NOT the same as a Ds-1. I own both, love both, and would never have just one of them. This pedal is a great purchase, and I would gladly buy it again should mine stop working, which will probably never happen since its built like a rock. The only downside I can think of is that it makes a lot of noise when I plug it in to the ac adapter I own, so you'll probably have to buy either a Boss adapter or just use batteries like I do (replace them before shows, you'll be fine.) Dont hesitate to buy this pedal.

This pedal is ok but there are a lot better pedals out there. This pedal is good for bigginer guitarist that would like to begin using pedals since its very easy to adjust. I'm saying this because I used to play a Squire Strat and with the pedal it made sound the guitar a lot heavier and more powerfull, but Then I bought an ESP with emg 81 and a new amp and when I played it with the pedal it sounded kinda weak and took a lot of my sustain, so I used it better with the distortion that the amp has it sound incredible! About the construction its really well built and will last years.Overall, you can buy this depnding of the type of gear and experience you have. I would recommend better the MXR Dime Distortion or if you buy this getting a compressor like the MXR M-135 Smart Gate.

Comments about Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion Pedal with Remote Jack:
Í had one of these in the 80's/90's and it was perfect. Got rid of pedals in favor of modeling but always missed the DS-2. So, I built another rig with pedals and this was the first one I bought and by the grace of God I can afford any of out them out there. No it's not boutiquey, or have a off the wall name but it is a very versatile pedal. Play with it, turn the knobs.

Comments about Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion Pedal with Remote Jack:
Great distortion, from creamy overdrive to boosted mids for leads. Great for Nirvana sounding guitar and Chili Peppers. I like the Turbo II setting for getting that guitar solo distortion sound at the end of "Scar Tissue." Sounds just like it. This is easily in the top ten of Boss pedals. Frusciante uses this pedal from the pictures I've seen on his pedal board. If you like Yuck, Sonic Youth, Chili Peppers, Nirvana, etc, you will love this pedal.

I knew this was what I needed because I tried it out before hand. It doesn't hurt to go into shops and try it out. The price was better on Musicians Friend and the mom & pop shop I tried it out in didn't want to price match so here I am... The style of my originals is like a grunge revival combined with prog dare I say "metal".... ?
I got it yesterday and toyed with it this morning. I really like it alot. I'm using a Fender Frontman 212R with a 1999 Godin SD. I use the humbucker alot for the stuff I write and on the FF212R I use the more drive channel alot but when I'm running this baby into I'll be using just the drive changel. When I want to go into more drive it will be for solo stuff. I also got the accessory switch so it's going to be awesome to play with the different combinations of distortion between what's onboard with the amp and my pedals. I've got the DS2 and the BF3 right now. Should be fun...
It's BOSS...
It's what I needed and the price was perfect.

I love this pedal, I play all kinds of stuff, like Red Hot Chili Peppers, and nirvana. stuff like that, and this pedal fit's it perfectly, nothing bad to say about it, i love it. I mostly use the Turbo mode, But when im doing some led zeppelin stuff I use the other mode and roll back the distortion, im using a amp that is built for "blues" but i can get real cool foo fighter tones out of this thing! I use a American standard strat, and i love it! check it out!

i got the boss ds 2 a few months ago and i really found that it is an extremely cool pedal. This pedal takes a lot of playing with to get a good sound, and it really helps if you know what you are going for instead of just playing with knobs. the I mode is really great for heavy power-chord work and such, but when you kick it into II mode you can throw down one nasty solo. i got this pedal for a really good deal, but i would have easily paid full price for this awesome pedal.
Comments about Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion Pedal with Remote Jack:
lacks the low end and the power i want. i dont play it unless its on turbo, the only diff is the "percieved" volume it brings. if you wanna play somethin like megadeth or metallica you may want go with the mega distortion pedal, but this one is a good balance if thats wat your lookin for, kinda like the kill em all album
Comments about Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion Pedal with Remote Jack:
first thing first. the ds-2 is an aquired taste so try this pedal out before you buy it. with that being said i like the features this gives you two differnt distortion types mode 1 has more of a typical distortion sound mode 2 is a bit fuzzier with a mid boost. this pedal is good for anything from pop music to hard rock. not very good for metal music
Comments about Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion Pedal with Remote Jack:
I got this thing because to me it has lots of bite. I mainly stay in mode 2. Anyone who seen Prince live knows that this pedal totally rocks and YES HE CAN SHRED.For me it has a sound that really sticks out. Being just a kid when this pedal came out (1987/1988) I grew up hearing this sound as well as the early grundge thing. It can get loud. It is my main distortion pedal. I really don't know why this thing don't get more props.
