OVERVIEW

Vintage tube echo tones with the convenience and reliability of modern technology.

The Catalinbread Echorec is based on the legendary Binson Echorec, an arcane tube echo which incorporated 4 playback heads and a spinning magnetic drum as its recording medium. The Binson is probably most famously known for Pink Floyd's use of the unit, and has long captivated musicians for both its rhythmic and ambient characteristics. The designers managed to include all the features of the original (and then some) while still keeping it in a small standard pedal-sized enclosure.

Comments about Catalinbread Echorec Multi-Tap Echo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great sounding effect, perfect for that Pink Floyd sound. It worked great for a month or two. Then I started getting an uncontrollable occelating feedback that would not stop even after powering my entire rig down. It just resumed again on powering up, until I disconnected all my pedals patch cables and power. Through a process of elimination I found this to be the one causing it. I haven't tried contacting the manufacturer yet so I can't comment on service.
I love the effect even at the price. I've already ordered the Keeley Dark Side & if that works out this one gets traded in along with a few others I will no longer need. I'll update this and review the Keeley after I've had time to try it out. Right now wishing the Keeley had been available earlier.

Comments about Catalinbread Echorec Multi-Tap Echo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Once I got the correct 9v DC adapter this thing fired up awesome. I didn't really get to play with it on my tube amp, I'll do that later, but I played digitally with it and it was so darn good I used it for my show that night.

The flexibility of this unit, clarity within the signal chain, and swell functions are so much fun for ambiance. The time function is quite nice, one can really get nice tap delays or other echos. I was comfortable enough with the unit that I just started mixing everything to totally different levels live and it worked sweet. I imagine this thing is great for recording too. Very unique sound, worth the price. I'm going to be doing some very wild DJ/mixing/guitar playing with this suckah! < 3 from Germany

Comments about Catalinbread Echorec Multi-Tap Echo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Requires patience due to the versatility, but delivers dead quiet echorec effects, with greater tweakability than the original units. You can tell that a lot of time and effort were spent on the development of this unit!

Comments about Catalinbread Echorec Multi-Tap Echo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Incredible pedal. I've used other delay pedals that simulate tape delay / vintage delays and nothing compares to this.

The modulation gives this wonderful sound to literally anything you play.

It certainly sounds very organic and wet, compared to other delays.

It has a wide variety of controls. The playback heads are incredibly useful when creating different delay patterns and rhythms.

I was also very pleased with the mix control, which when turned all the way down, sounds the same as the dry signal. I've had other delay pedals give me some hiss or something added to my sound but the echorec leaves it very clear and clean.

This makes the echorec more than just a pedal, it's a way of playing.

It is TOTALLY worth it! Easily the most useful pedal I have.

Comments about Catalinbread Echorec Multi-Tap Echo Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is an amazing device. Got it for Christmas 2012 from my Dad. Being a Pink Floyd fan, I am very happy to have access to these sounds. When you play stoccato, you will hear clear echo repeats. As you let the notes ring, the echoes morph somewhat into a reverb. It's a very unique and analog sound. It will self-oscillate as heard on the Pompeii version of Saucerful of Secrets. I have my full early Gilmour/Barrett rig setup and this was the final piece. The sound can be a little chaotic as I'm sure the original was. But the notes have that space you hear on the Time solo. MXR Carbon Copy is a little more practical, IMHO, but I'd rather lose the MXR than my precious Catalinbread if there was a tornado or something. The Echorec sound is authentic and appears to mimic the controls(and more) or the original Echorec. If you have to have this sound, it's worth the extra cabbage(or Dad's Christmas cabbage...) For authenticity of sound and being just freakin' awesome, I give it a 10. (24 yr hobby guitar/bass player)
