Mine came with the hemp cone tone tubby speaker. Man its loud, I was looking for an amp with extremely clean sounding punch, I needed the overdrive to hit hard but not sound brittle or harsh, A real marshall type sound, like a JCM800, but with more bass. I use my Wylde overdrive in combination with the overdrive channel, and thats pretty much the perfect tone I was looking for, I havent bought or looked at any music products since. I'm just plain satisfied with my tone now. And yes, Amazing metal amp, Thats all I play, from Metallica to Dimmu Borgir to Children Of Bodom.
I've had this for about two weeks now and the only concern I have is that the knobs get really hot after it's been on for over an hour of play. Other than that, this thing is a dream. I was searching for that 'fender' or 'vox' sound ( I'm historically a vox fan!)and I find that crate actually has a dreamy boutique sound of it's own. I'm no shredder. I like simple clean blues and jazz. I also like to play at bedroom levels sitting on the floor right in front of the amp. This amp will go as quiet as you want without the annoying hissing of some tube amps. I didn't get the tone tubby - I think my amp is a left over. It does come with groove tubes and a celestion speaker though. The construction is excellent through and through. The 'v30' badge is metal not plastic, it has thick tolex similar to the ampegs (which is cool) and a beautiful vintage grill cloth. Made in USA, tubes made in USA, and speaker made in England! Deep bass, smooth mids, crystal highs - what's not to love? Oh Yeah, AND a 5 year warranty!!!!
A buddy of mine bought this amp and this thing is very powerful. The 30 watt class A is awesome. He plays on a Fender strat and it sounds amazing when he's playing blues and some jazz. If your into blues and stuff like that this is a good amp for you.
I recently purchased this amp locally for well under the price displayed here. I've been playing through solid state amps my entire life and did not realize how dramatic the switch was going to be. This amp has turned out to be even better than I had hoped for. It?s got a 12" speaker that packs a punch and the tone that I've been searching for. The only gripe I have is that there are no effects, but other than that this amp is a great buy even for the price listed here.
I purchased this amp locally on sale for a good price. I have been using it in my apartment at minimum volume and loving the clean tone. I finally got to take it over to my parents and turn it up some (3 is loud!!!) and let me say wow. Not only does it get loud but sounds clean loud and the overdrive is to die for!!!
I was skeptical of this amp at first, until I actually plugged it in. After that, I was in love. I got this for a great deal, but even at listed price it is well worth every penny. Thick, rich, clean tone, reverb, and still enough overdrive to rock out! All this with 30W class A tube... if at all within your price range - Get it now!!
Picked this up from MF last month ... backstock so $ was great. Also at the same time bought a palomino 30 which is essentially the same amp so I had the opportunity to a-b them next to each other. I got the Palomino first and it sounded awesome ... everything the reviews say. @ days later 3112T came in and It was so much louder and more present I couldn't believe it. I sold the pony and kept the "tubby" ... I used to play Ampeg V4's and VT22's and this amp sounds likme them tonally but with more gain at lower volumes ... and also as loud when you want it to be .. UNREAL for the $ ... UNREAL for 4 times the $
I stumbled across this amp. I was reluctant to plug into it but I did. WOW....am I glad I did. Bought it on the spot. I have owned a traynor YCV 80 for a year now and have never found the tone I want. I was worried 30 watts not being enough volume. This baby blows the traynor away!! It actually is louder !! And with better tone !! I play mostly southern rock and blues. My band covers everything from Pat Green, SRV,Hendrix, Melloncamp, and I personally play very heavy rock at home. This amp does it all. You can not get a bad tone from this amp. I finally have found the tone I have dreamed of. I have played many Mesa's, Bogner, Dumble, etc. and this Crate V3112 eats them for lunch !! If I lost it I would be devastated. I would definately get this product again.
I have had this amp for going on 8 years now and I still love it. I have only had to change the tubes on it a couple times over the years, and it sounds great. If you are in the market for a tube amp go with this one you will not regret it.
