This Baby, when paired up with an MI Audio Crunch Box, a Fulltone Octafuzz and a Strat, of course, it's one wild best. I got it used, saved about US$ 40.00, but even at this site price it's a good bang for the buck, the other Uni Vibe's Clones are approaching US$ 300.00. I did notice some tone sucking and I am not too sure about mixing it with my wah. I guess I need to do some more experimentation. Having said that, you get a healthy dose of Bridge of Sighs and Machine Gun with this baby. Another thing to notice, I know that you've heard before that a particular pedal is built like a tank, it's almost like a cliche...Well this is REALLY built like a tank, this enclousure should outlast you with very little problems. I also suspect it can take a .45 caliber with no issues.
I'm the type that wants to get the most out of my gear and I've used this on everything from mixing consoles, to bass and it sounds wonderful for that swirling speaker effect on anything! Vibrato sounds good if you can't do with your voice, so useful. Worth every penny.
I bought this pedal after going back and forth on whether i was going to buy a Uni-Vibe or not. Although you do not get the vintage look, you do get a vintage sound. I love the way this pedal sounds. I use it on a bunch of Hendrix covers and on songs that i want to have a Hammond type sound on. I rarely use the vibrato effect but it also sounds great. I decided this was the best route for the cost, features, and it takes up a lot less space on the pedalboard. I strongly recommend this pedal! I waited over 4 years to buy a rotating speaker effect and this was a great buy!
Okay okay I admit it--I got this because of Zakk Wylde. But nonetheless, the level of control you get with this is incredible. The chorus is the most useful for me and setting it to a minimal sweep speed with clean comping produces a nice modulation effect. Raising the speed produces dramatic effects on sustained notes. This really has to be played for awhile with to get the full benefit, but its contribution to overall character in a tone cannot be overstated.
If you like the recording shown on the website then you'll like it in person. Very popular, but unheralded effect. Once you play with this you'll realize how many guitarists use this or something similar.
I really like this pedal for a few reasons. One it is prabably one the best rotary effects on the market. I've tried other rotary-type effects, and a lot of them mess with your overall volume, when they are on, or they distort the sound. And some sound so fake and digital sounding. This has a very analog sound to it. And when I use modulation effects it's just my preference that they don't cut too deep into the sound, or sort of become the sound, this dosn't do that at all. It colors the tone like it should without wrecking your base tone. The toe/heel variable speed is really nice to make adjustments on the fly. Overall a very good pedal.
This Pedal Is awsome if you want to create a good Jimi Hendrix or Pink Floyd / David Gilmour sound it goes slow and fast and also it has pulsing LED's making it easier to see on dark stages and has a chorus and vibrato selection , everything on this pedal makes it easier to use.
A lush sounding effect with the speed being controlled by the treadle. The biggest problem with that being said is that if you want to have a slow rotary sound, you have to click on the pedal (toe down/fastest position) so you start really quickly, then you turn it off by stomping the pedal down again. So your speed goes insane as you turn it off. Not worth the money if you can't use it often (like me)
This pedal is amazing! Best vibe I've ever heard to be honest. I wanted to get the rotosphere or univibe but this pedal, even after I moded it, nails the sounds I want...especially for Little Wing by Hendrix. Highly recommend this!
jim dunlop pedals are the strongest most durable pedals made. the rotovibe sounds like hendrix more because through a marshall it doesnt change the tone. The vibrato is that of the old harmony amps that have the john forgerty feel, and the rotovibe is clearly all day long jimmy hendrix..love the pedal, and original crybaby pedal is awesome too.
