Well my current rig cosists in a Standard Strat (Mexican) which I've customized the heck off. I installed some Fender CS 69 Pickups, change the internal cap,and swamp the bridge for a Callaham Assembly. I also have a MI Audio Cruch Box (to get that british rock tone) a Fulltone Octafuzz and a Fender Blues Junior. Once you have the right ingredients then you can use this pedal and get some righteous Hendrix Tones. It's true, on the toe up position you get sort of a muted tone, specialy on the b and high e strings, but it's got an agressive and very wide mids section, which in my opinion promotes a pronounced wah effect when you move from toe to heel position. It's not true bypass, but I did not noticed much tone sucking, it's my undestanding that this wah has a buffer section which addresses that issue. I'd say that if you have a decent vintage inspired tube amp, something to drive the amp and again a strat with vintage pickups, you should be able to do some hendrix wah work. No need to break the wallet to get a V846. This wah it's tolerable for the budgetary challanged. It is a good deal. Remember you are paying for the Hendrix Tone (Which is a Science itself), not features. One last thing, I urge you to find a place where you can turn your amp up and good (and it's been hard for me), but once you do you will notice that this wah delivers!

I bought this pedal today...I can say, it's the most awesome Dunlop wah pedal I've experienced...for the short time it worked. At first, it was a pretty flawless throaty Hendrix vibe-ish wah pedal, then it started to squeek due to lack of proper lubrication. I turned it off for a while and then came back to play it again... I activated it and it had no signal! I rocked it a bit and found this nasty feed back that sounded like I was bending the 9th fret on the high E string, euch. I'm really bummed about this, because it is amazing when it works. Damn.

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

I find this wah is a very well constructed, durable, and has a lot of expression. Up until now I have been playing using a BOSS GT-3, and the wah settings on there have been more than useless. The step up I took purchasing this is amazing. The tone sounds just like Hendrix and feels like him too. I recommend having this or a Vox V847A as your main wah.

Best Wah Yet

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

Ok, I am an experienced guitar player who has done professional recordings. This thoroughly recreates the Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Vibe. Personally I play alot of hendrix, and this wah is perfect. If you are into funk at all, this is your perfect match. I have no idea why people review this pedal bad. Seriously it is great. For the price it is definitly a great deal.I have used it to play Joe Satriani which works great! Its great for classic shred like Satriani. I have used it on Metallica and other things alike. After using many wah pedals before, this is the best. Don't waist your time looking in other places for your tone. This pedal is a Must Buy!

Good but Limited

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

The pedal does have an interesting sound However, when you step down to the lows, the are so muted you can lose the volume. You have to play with the range in which you rock the pedal back and forth. But it does have an interesting sound when you learn to control it.

The perfect wah

By Kneevo

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

I purchased the Dunlop JH-1B Jimi Hendrix wah today. I am blown way. I had high expectations for this new line of pedals. Usually I am let down by products that are hyped so much. I have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old. I am now 34. I have played my share of wahs. Classic Crybaby, Q535, Vox 847, the old Jimi line. This pedal flat out beats them all. If you are looking to re-create classic Hendrix and Clapton wah sounds then this is your pedal. Very warm and never too trebly when depressed fully. Just perfect. I love this pedal. I have only had it for a few hours and I have not stopped playing for those few hours. Well, until now. Gonna check out the Octavio next and the Fuzz when it comes out. Looks great too. Looks kind of like a Vox but sounds much better. It is nice to know that I have that classic Jimi wah sound, but i love getting my own sounds and style and this pedal gives you the ability to take that basic sound and run with it. Mainly cuz it sounds so damn good and you never wanna stop playing. If you dont have a wah go buy this and if you are looking to replace your old Crybaby or Vox dont even think twice. This pedal is the best wah for that classic sound. EVER !

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

If you're looking for a classic sounding wah pedal, look no further! It does what is says, its just a wah pedal so just a 4.0 on features since, well there only is one but what do you expect. This is the perfect wah and has a nice vintage tone which is great for playing Hendrix and classic rock like Zeppelin. You can really hear that WAH! and it stands out. It does not alter the volume or tone if put in the correct space on your loop.Really this is perfect...buy it!

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

I got this pedal yesterday, and it rules somthing fierce. It sounds *JUST* like the old school Vox Clyde McCoy wah. When I play jelly 292, catfish blues or (of course) Voodoo Chile this pedal really gives it that Hendrix feal.

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

I have been looking for a solid wah pedal for a while now, and have used the original cry baby, the dimebag darrel custom and a Ibanez WH-10. Though the hendrix pedal preformed well for me, I felt that it didn't have enough sound when it was fully rocked back, If i had fuzz on with the wah, it would fully cut out my tone if i went back to far, instead of creating a fatter sound.

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

Well I love Jimi so I had to buy this pedal. First off it looks great and has a cool vintage vibe. The actual weight of the pedal is lighter than my Dunlop 535Q, Vox 847A and most other wah's. If you open up the back you will see the circuit board has printed Crybaby 95. I also noticed on my Script Phaser that inside it has printed EVH Phase. I dont know why Dunlop would use the same board, maybe it just cheaper or easier. The sound is very throaty, with loss bass and raised mids, with decreased highs that will not spike out of control like the Vox 847A or 535 q on high Q settings. Start playing Voodoo Child and you'll hear that Jimi sound. I do question the actual build of the pedal and the fact that they did not put in a fasel inductor for the price point, but it seems like a collector piece along with being a unique tuned wah pedal. My opinion, is to safe your money for a true bypass wah like the Budda with a similiar reduced high end spike.

It's a good wah, don't get me wrong. But if you're in the market to spend a little extra for a guitarist's name, get the Slash model. It blows this thing out of the water.

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

Straight and to the point.... The highs and mids on this pedal are classic.... My only problem is that you lose sooo much volume in the lows. I usually spend a lot of time with the pedal layed back for solos and this pedal doesnt maintain its volume. Great pedal though. I'm sure there is a mod for that.

Good looks and sounds fat!

By Mark Schlaefer

from Frisco, CO

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

I have to say, I bought this because I've been looking for a wah that plays well with my strat and it's CS 69 pickups. These pickups are very scooped sounding and sound thin and harsh trough a regular crybaby. I have a fulltone clyde and it gets way woofy with these pickups. The JH-B seems like a very good fit for the 69 pickups. The mid emphasis of the wah sounds great with scooped pickups! So why the low rating? No true bypass, it really sucks tone big time. I traced the circuit to do the mod for true bypass (not easy on this unit) and found that they only changed one cap, from the regular crybaby circuit. So be aware your paying extra for the signature, cosmetics, and packaging, not really the guts, you could change that cap on a regular crybaby for 30 cents! It does look cool, so what the heck, I'm keeping it.

Great Sounding Wah

By Anonymous

Comments about Dunlop JH1D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah Pedal:

My friend, who plays lead guitar in this band I know, was always talkin' about how great this pedal was and that it was the best wah ever. I thought it was gonna be another one of those crappy "artist series" pedals that everybody buys because it has a famous person's name on it. Man, was I wrong. This pedal, in my opinion, is an extremely expressive and great sounding wah pedal, probably the best dunlop wah on the market at least. Compared to my Original Crybaby Wah (which broke after a month), this thing completely crushes it.
