OVERVIEW

Transforms the tone of a guitar into that of a classic organ.

The C9 Organ Machine springboards off the revolutionary B9 to mine another rich vein of classic gold and provide players with nine more definitive organ and keyboard sounds. The C9 will transform your instrument into a convincing full body, electric organ or vintage electronic keyboard. For each preset chosen, it also provides precise control over important elements of that sound's sonic fingerprint like percussive click, modulation, attack/sustain, drawbar setting or high frequency content. Blend your dry signal to create beautiful layers. This pedal can also be used with keyboards.

FEATURES
  • 9 presets that were finely tuned to emulate some of the most popular and classic organ and keyboard tones ever recorded
  • Provides control over percussive attack level, modulation speed, organ and dry volume
  • Rugged and easy to use
  • Use together with the B9 for dual keyboard possibilities (sold separately)
  • EHX 9.6DC-200 PSU included

It works like it should, just like with a guitar synth you should play what's appropriate for an organ. A compressor is a good idea to keep levels more even. (at least for chords). I've used it live and you can use one amp for regular guitar and this pedal. Not as versatile as a guitar synth but a lot less trouble. I like it.

Playing my Strat through the C9, there was a scratching sound right at the beginning of the plucking of the string. It was something like the sound of a needle going sideways on an LP record. It didn't make any difference if the Click knob was all the way up or all the way off and it occurred on all settings. This makes the C9 not usable. I tried it through two amps and with the Strat tone controls all on and all off. No difference. Also, when playing multiple strings, some will die before others so I would recommend using a compressor with this if you get one that doesn't scratch. I returned the C9 for a refund.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Guitar Effects Pedal:

Product is good, and light weight. I purchased on a Saturday, and upgraded to 2 day shipping. It arrived on Thursday. They said they were going to refund my money for the shipping, but they didn't. That's enough to make me look at other places for future purchases.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Guitar Effects Pedal:

You are the guitar player in a band with no keyboard player, and sometimes you miss a little keyboard sound here and there in the songs, This is the tool you needed and you didn't know.

Just one advice: think as a keyboard player: don't strum the strings, use your classical or fingerpicking technique to get the most satisfying sounds from this pedal.

I use it to enhance some of the tracks that need a fill in to make a recording sound better.
Also like to use it for performances in certain situations.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Guitar Effects Pedal:

This thing is the most fun toy ever! All those late 60's early 70's organ sounds! Yeah, I suppose the ideal user of this is the guitarist that wants to fake some of these specific keyboards but doesn't want to bother learning keyboard technique. But I also play a little keyboard and something about this has made me wanting to mess around with it. It's certainly more compact than a Roland getup and has a bunch of stuff I happen to like. I think even if you are just looking for novel guitar tones, to get the most from it you will want to adjust your technique a bit to optimize to each sound. Slides, for instance, won't sound like an authentic organ, but in some cases I find sliding has interesting results. Keep in mind they seem to have been perfectionists with respect to mimicking these instruments, in that they fake the vintage machine best when played within the pitch range of the original instruments. A boatload of fun this thing.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Guitar Effects Pedal:

Emulates that keyboard organ vibe rather well. Being able to mix the guitar and keyboard levels independently really puts this over the top. Nice planning in the development of this peddle.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have been using Roland guitar synths since 1986 in full band situations so I have a lot of experience performing live with them. The C9 pedal allows me to radically fatten up what we are doing now in a 2 man semi-acoustic duo. The "Shimmer" selection is amazing to use in melodic songs where chord picking & strumming are used. It's like your music was black & white & now is suddenly color. Using several different organ sounds & settings takes some planning to be able to morph between them in your set list but very doable. where I used to use a separate Clean amp for the guitar synths the C9 works great with my current clean based setup through a stereo chorus amp. It actually works well when adding overdrive crunch for more pronounced picking as well. To me the C9 is revolutionary in it's capability in a small pedal design. Absolutely recommend this pedal.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Guitar Effects Pedal:

Since the 60's I have always loved the sound of a Hammond organ with the rotating Leslie speakers. But, try to carry a Hammond around??? Now I can carry my Hammond around with ease !!! The sounds are great and very faithful to the organs being emulated. Nice big Hammond sound and I don't have to learn piano. In the bypass mode I notice no degradation of my guitar tone or articulation. The 'dry' output is a super feature, too. The main thing is its so much fun. I love it !!!

Comments about Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Guitar Effects Pedal:

i play in a cover band with no keyboardist, so this is great for playing keyboard intros and riffs into the songs. As long as you play with keyboard melodies and riffs in mind, and classical or finger picking techniques, it works fine. Sounds are great. it would be great if it had an expression pedal input.
