Overall im very happy with this... it was the first pedal I bought an is my most used. A good bass fuzz and guitar fuzz in one.. a reason its been in continuous use for 40 + years. I do wish that it had more clarity. Overall good job EHX. You've don't it again.
It has enough volume to use it almost as a stand alone boost, useful with a dirty amp. Megatons of fuzz and sustain, useful for solos with sustain cranked, good rhythm tones when its backed off. The tone knob is where it sold me... it can, like in the discription, go from warm bass to crisp treble, which makes it a good candidate for a bass fuzz. Perfect for tones like Chris from Muse. Or if you are a Felix Pappalardi fan, turn the tone to half and sustain cranked. This can get good Jack Bruce tone from the 1968 Cream farewell concert. With a wah wah you get a perfect Cliff Burton tone.
I gave it an 8 because the paint will chip easy... be carefull. Other than that its fine, stronger than it Looks.
For what it costs its a steal.... I have 2 of these and love them to death. If you are not happy then there are hundreds of mods out there there to "fix" it. I have played pedals that cost twice as much, yet sound cheap.

I was looking for a pedal with great sustain, and this certainly isn't it. If you don't bend a note, then you get sustain. But as soon as you do any bending, the note is gone. Instead of a note, you get some kind of crappy feed back. What's worse, when I was trying to get the battery out it was similar to playing "Operation" for you kids that remember that game. Pain in the buttocks. Therefore, I'm still looking for sustain.

I'm a working Pro...Bar circuit in Canada...for years played BOSS pedals...great sound and DURABLE...nothing against them...highly recommended...Given a PI as a gift! Plugged in and turned on! A 70's growl, punk, hair metal... eliminated a couple of the BOSS...Put it on the pedal board and it was BIG...great impressive look...the sound is great...a little fidley on the knobs...changing settings needs a piece of masking tape marked (Tip) (Duh...) So far so good on durability...A "Stomp pedal" doesn't mean pound on it...If you are a moron who wants to be "the Show"...go ahead and crush it... guaranteed to break in 10 shows...Treat her like a lady...a great live pedal...BOSS is back up rig...now if I could only find a Roadie...

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Classics USA Big Muff PI Distortion / Sustainer Guitar Effects Pedal:
A noisey pedal, but very responsive, great sound. A one trick pony if what you're looking for is a pretty focused fuzzy sound, only really gets that right at one specific setting, but if you want to screw around with it more it actually does a lot of stuff. Very soulful pedal, integral part of my sound, hasn't failed me yet, and if it did I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Classics USA Big Muff PI Distortion / Sustainer Guitar Effects Pedal:
It performs exactly as advertised. I love the broad range of tone and distortion. Works great with slide guitar as well, creating a very cool low growl. Construction seems a little flimsy, but sufficient.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix Classics USA Big Muff PI Distortion / Sustainer Guitar Effects Pedal:
The value is incredible, considering the quality. I don't think there is a better fuzz out there for this price.
It's fantastic for what you get. You don't need any more nobs than they give you, trust me!
The guy at the store said it is a little bit delicate, but i've stomped the hell out of this thing and it still looks like its new.
A classic fuzz pedal for under $100 bucks. if you are on the fence about getting this for some reason, get off the fence!
Comments about Electro-Harmonix Classics USA Big Muff PI Distortion / Sustainer Guitar Effects Pedal:
There's a reason that this pedal is a classic. True, it only does fuzz, fuzzier, and fuzziest, but it's a lot of fun to play around with. Takes me back to when I was 9 years old and first discovered the distortion switch on my amp!
Having already tried out the Little Big Muff, which I also love, I was curious to see what the original sounded like. Holy cow, is this thing awesome. Nice, thick wooly fuzz and raspy, ear-splitting fizz, it's all there. The Little Big Muff is a nice alternative, and truthfully, there's not a huge difference in sound from this one, but I still like this one better.
So far, so good, but I think this where the Little Big Muff comes out on top. The folded aluminum construction makes this pedal feel a bit fragile, as does the footswitch, so you might want to take some extra precautions when transporting it to gigs. You could throw the Little Big Muff across the room, and I think it could take it.
Great price, especially for a reissue, US-made pedal. Check out the "boutique" fuzz pedals....they're $$$. If it breaks, oh well....just buy another one.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix Classics USA Big Muff PI Distortion / Sustainer Guitar Effects Pedal:
This is one of the pedals Jack White uses, and now that I have one, I see where he gets his sound. It is very loud with my Fender Twin. I keep the volume on it down a ways, but put an OCD into a Tube Screamer and then into the Big Muff and then that goes through a Memory Boy before it goes in the amp. I've tweaked the settings on all the boxes and now I can get that screamin' sound at a fairly low volume level and keep the neighbors happy.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix Classics USA Big Muff PI Distortion / Sustainer Guitar Effects Pedal:
Best distortion pedal ever. I've used it for guitar for years. However, I started playing bass in a band and figured I would use this other than the Bass Big Muff, only because it's cheaper and more abundantly accessible via music stores. I've blown 2 of them with bass, so I highly recommend not using this if you are using it for bass, use the Bass Big Muff.
So easy to use.
Built like a tank.
Pedals that cost more still cant get the fuzz that this thing puts out.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix Classics USA Big Muff PI Distortion / Sustainer Guitar Effects Pedal:
This pedal gets the job done. Very usefull when you need a nice, nasty fuzz. Well done Electro-Harmonix!
Its kind of a one-trick pony, but that trick is amazing. The most important knob is the tone. Roll it down to get a nice rhythmic fuzz, and turn it all the way up for almost a slashed speaker-type fuzz.
I've stepped on it bunches of times and it has yet to fail me.
You can't say this isn't a value for the price.
