I have had this pedal for about 6 months now so feel I am ready to review it. This is not a pedal/effect which I had originally considered when building my latest pedal board but came upon this type of effect while researching Hendrix and his "cheese wedge" octave pedal and other artist that use this type of effect. I had looked at the Boss octave pedal which was very highly rated but it was only an octave down ( not up ) pedal. I had purchased/tested the Voodoo labs pedal but had to send it back as it is true analog and picked up tons of RFI (radio interference). I have a few other Electro HX pedals and found this one that is both octave up and down and is just what I was looking for. Being a "Micro" POG it takes up less room on the board ( nice) , has just a few controls ( easy to set up), has its own non standard 9.6 VDC wall wart power adapter included. This is probably not a type of effect that you will use all the time and when you do switch it on I personally use it sparingly to thicken my sound. I use this with lots of dry ( original signal ) dialed in with both small helpings of octave up and down. It plays nicely with other pedals ( like the MXR stereo chorus ) and I have it placed on the board after the MXR-compressor and prior to the Fulltone OCD ( all are really nice pedals too). You can set it to dial in an octave up 12 string guitar or like a harpsichord type sound. The octave down alone sound, I personally do not prefer and not why I bought it but you can do that too. I am still experimetning with all this pedal can do so give it some time after you buy it to get use it and how it can enhance your sound. The only downside it is more pricey than other pedals and why I rated the value slightly lower (4.5). Hope this helps you

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Micro POG Polyphonic Octave Generator Guitar Effects Pedal:
This thing is awesome. I use it on bass and don't know what it's like on guitar but it gives me a good sub octave (just be careful not to get it lost in the mix with over powering bass in the tone). The octave up has a very unique sound (but to be fair not everyone is going to like it so listen to it in a video first) which I think is really cool. The pedal tracks extremely well but the sub octave is a bit quiter than the dry signal when getting down low to the A note on your E string and lower than that. You'll have to pay a pretty penny for this thing but you'll quickly forget what you paid when overwhelmed by the world of sounds (and good sounds at that) this thing has. I don't think there's an octave pedal out there with tracking as good as this thing and the octave up is an awesome bonus. Good buy.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Micro POG Polyphonic Octave Generator Guitar Effects Pedal:
I think that the unit is a little pricey and I wish it was true-bypass, but I think that overall it is a great pedal.
Doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the full version but does exactly what I wanted and has a suprisingly diverse range of sounds. (I actually purchased the full version at GC but returned it after a few days as it was more complicated than I needed.) I mostly use it for creating ambient pads and for thickening up lead sounds in conjunction with a fuzz.
Very well built, typical of most EHX products.
I think the unit is a little pricey for what it does, but is now an essential part of my rig/sound.

I am a active musician and i have been using the POG for about a year, this pedal has it all. You can get great bass sounds, 12 string sounds, etc. While the price may throw a few people i found this pedal to work great whenever i needed a 12 string or another bass.

I've had the micro POG for several months now and like any good product I like it more over time. Friends of mine have had octave type pedals with only one octave, either above or below and felt like one trick ponies. Having both the above and below octaves gives you a lot of versatility, making it a very usable pedal to thicken your sound, brighten it, or just give you a wall of sound. What really sold me on the pedal is when I decided to learn some of George Harrison's Rickenbacker 360 12-string solo's on on my Rick 330. Turned the Sub octave off, cranked Dry and Up, and had my Boss DS-1 feeding into it. I was blown away with how similar it sounded. It turned my guitar into a 12 string. And that's one example of what you can do with it, especially when you use it with other pedals.Used in the right context this pedal sounds awesome and is of the highest quality. But the make you pay for it! I even had a cat puke on it and it was fine.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Micro POG Polyphonic Octave Generator Guitar Effects Pedal:
The micro pog is great if you want a combination of dry, octave up, and octave down. You can't get only octave down, though. So no bass sounds, but great 12 string sounds, and heavy octave down AND dry sounds.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Micro POG Polyphonic Octave Generator Guitar Effects Pedal:
i've had this pedal for alittle over a year now and i feel like i'm comfortable enough with it to write a review. I wanted a simple octave pedal, and always loved the POG, but it was to complex. When i saw a review for the micro-POG, i tried it out and was blown away. Its very simple to use, but VERY versatile. I use it with my piezo bridge on my schecter to get 12-string acoustic sounds... i use just the octave down or octave up to get crazy phsychodelic stuff... and my favorite, crank all 3 knobs and do volume swells for a sweet organ sound! Alittle pricey, but its a great quality pedal. If it was ever lost or stolen i would DEFFINATELY replace it. Great job EHX!!
Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Micro POG Polyphonic Octave Generator Guitar Effects Pedal:
The EHX Micro Pog is an excellent octaver, and a valuable tool for anyone that doesn't want to buy a bass or 12 string guitar. The thing is built like a tank, too. It's very simple to use; just dry, sub octave and octave up knobs. It doesn't sound artificial or hollow. It'll hit your wallet pretty hard, but for this price, you'll get a terrific pedal.
Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Micro POG Polyphonic Octave Generator Guitar Effects Pedal:
This is a really sweet pedal, nothing else I have seen or used has done what this does, and never in such a small casing. I can get realistic 12-string tones, or just add in a little octave up and make my signal get some jangle. The lower octave knob is really versatile and can really add depth to the guitar tone. Overall, an excellent unique pedal.
