Got this jewel 2 weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased! I own several vintage, original Fender tube amps that are just too loud for my neighbors when I want to practice or "jam" so I read about this one and thought I'd give it a try. I've read that some replace the speaker right away, but this one seems to be just fine. The clean and the drive channels are very true for a solid state and I experience no static or break up at the higher volumes. This 'lil sucker can go loud too! I was really impressed with the reverb on this amp. It's rich, full and thick, and quite sensitive to the control knob. It performs better than I expected. The "Blackface" look is a nice touch as well. It's lite enough to carry in my pocket yet produces a big sound...and I don't have to disturb my neighbors! I dig that I can plug in earbuds and play silently too. All in all, great little amp. Well done Fender! Well done Musicians Friend! Can't beat the price either. *in my best "Cartman" voice*, "I love you'guys"...

I've been a player for going on 45 years now and still active in a classic rock&roll band. I haven't had a non-tube amp for at least 25 years. Currently playing through a 66' Super-Reverb or a 73' Bandmaster-Reverb. I am also a stomp box junkie. I know it's a sickness so don't judge me. I researched a little to find a respectable practice amp that I can fire up and play something at a moments notice. I decided on trying out this Frontman 25r. It got good reviews, so for the money, why not. I even picked up a replacement speaker to drop in it as soon as it arrived. I bought the Eminence Redcoat Ramrod. I know everybody recommends the Rajun Cajun. But I knew what the Redcoat can do. This amp is better than expected. Way better. For the extra 75.00 bucks to upgrade the speaker. Was a gamble that was worth it too. For a total of $160.00, the purchase was all well worth it. I think this amp will hold it's own with a full band rehearsal and even small venue gigs. Also note that the fender amp cover made for the Fender Champion 110 fits this amp perfect.

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

While this amp looks pretty cool with the red vinyl, it's not very good sounding, and mine didn't last very long. I did replace the stock speaker with an Eminence Ragin' Cajun' speaker, and it sounded much louder and better. But, the amp quit on me after less than a year's use, and I hardly played it at all, just using it occasionally around the house as a practice amp.

I can understand if you can't afford a Marshall Stack, or something equivalent to that. But, try and save a little more money & grab a better Fender amp, or a Peavey Vypyr, etc.

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm an older hobbyist, former gigging musician. I owned one of the original 25r amps from about 2001. Maybe it was just me, but I found the sound quality quite flat and/or harsh, and that was playing a DeArmond M72, which is a very good guitar by any standard. And the volume went from zero and then pretty much to 10, not much room in between. I didn't use any delay or chorus effects through it, which may have made it more "organic" sounding. And I never have been a fan of 10 inch speakers for guitar. I know many adore these, and I even heard a guy playing jazz chords on an ES 335 through one that sounded pretty good. Maybe I got a dud? It certainly was not in the same league as the misunderstood Spider IV 30 watt that I use at home now. But that is another review!

Comments about Fender 25R Frontman Series II 25W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

After a 45 year absence in playing I needed an amp to begin again. Glad I waited to get one of these on the final shipment. Needing to relearn playing as well as relearning amps I did not want a modeling amp. Too much to get in the way of learning. The 10" speaker over others with an 8" is a plus as is the 3 band EQ over the others with only 2. Good clean sound with acceptable dirty sound and a little reverb is a great way to get back to playing again. No wonder it has a rating of 4 3/4 stars out of 5 with 124 reviews. A really fine product for the money. Too bad Fender has discontinued it now.

I have had this amp since 05.I have used it and abused it but it has never let me down. If you play with it you can get a good sound from it.I like to use the drive channel and just turn the gain up till you can hear it .then turn up volume. It gives the impression of a tube amp about to break up.not quite as good but pretty close.I have played it out live and was amazed at how loud it can be.40 years of playing ...aroom full of equipment and i still grab for this for small venues because I know when I plug it in the little light will come on and it will sound good

Really like it. Don't get me wrong. It's just that the reverb isn't as good sounding as the original version and the overall amp tone isn't quite as Fender chimey as the metal grill version.

I've used this amplifier many times for live shows and it was way better than I had expected. It really does the job for me and I can hear it over the drums, no problem. If you are a big tone junkie then you may want to relace the speaker. The factory speaker is okay but it could be better...all a matter of opinion. Whenever playing live, I can mic the amp (with the amp volume set at 3)and use the amp as my personal monitor. I am a Fender/Gibson guy but I prefer to use tube amps. For the price though, this little amp is well worth it for what I needed...the decision is too easy. Buy today...

I currently own a 1988 Peavey VTX Classic and a 1974 Fender Dual Showman Reverb with 2-15 bottom. I wanted a small portable amp with reverb for not much money. This amp fits the bill 100%. It sounds like a good Fender amp should. I play clean and I rarely have to turn it up above 3 for living room settings. I don't use the overdrive channel but I have tried it out of curiosity and it can be over the top (in a good way). I wholeheartedly recommend this amp with no reservations whatsoever.
