OVERVIEW

A Celestion-loaded 2x12 cab to pump out huge Bassbreaker tone.

Bassbreaker series guitar amplifiers continue Fender's storied lineage with a kind of "parallel evolution" that evokes the dawn of hard rock. Bassbreaker takes the original Bassman design and breaks away with features including dark gray lacquered tweed covering, refined pointer knobs and unique circuitry plus power tubes and speakers hinting at the U.K. amps that "borrowed" Fender circuits in the 1960s. The sound is one of pure tube greatness.

The Fender BB-212 140W 2x12 speaker enclosure is engineered to perfectly match and enhance Bassbreaker combos and heads. It offer rich, resonant voicing and low-end "thump," with pro-level performance for today's rock players.

•Semi-closed back for full, rich lows
•Two 12 inch, 8 Ohm Celestion V-Type speakers for tight response and “vocal” tone character
•Total impedance 16 Ohms
•Fits neatly under Bassbreaker 45 combo/head

Comments about Fender Bassbreaker 140W 2x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

Wanted to try the V-type speakers and stumbled on these. After listening to all the clips I could find on them, wanted to try them. I have two other cabs with Scumback M's and a stock 5150. Wanted a different tone for recording my Splawn Quickrod / 5150 III / Mesa Mark v:25.

This one works just as I'd hoped. Used for appx 20 hours with the Quickrod. Nice lows, not mushy. Great highs without the harsh frequencies. No ear fatigue from it, even directly in front. Mic's up well and is very light.

Great value at this price, the speakers alone are about 2 bones or so. I'd highly recommend!

Comments about Fender Bassbreaker 140W 2x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

I was looking to get a lightweight cabinet with more "spread" for better on-stage monitoring compared to my sealed-back, compact 1x12" cabinet loaded with an Eminence Swamp Thang. This cabinet more than filled the bill and only weighs 5 lbs. more than my 1x12"!

While I do not own a Bassbreaker series amp, and therefore cannot comment on how it sounds with its intended amp pairing, I use it with a Yamaha THR100H and an Orange CR120H. While both amps have their own unique features and voices, both sound excellent through this cabinet. I play in a Motown/R&B/Funk band so I usually go for a loud, high-headroom clean tone on either amp with my Keeley 4-knob compressor always on. For overdrive, I use a Keeley Super Phat Mod. With either amp head, I can get a fantastic clean or overdriven tone without harsh treble and plenty of low end grunt. The Orange is much louder and pushes the speakers nicely without any noticeable break-up. The Celestion V-type speakers are great and I can't wait for them to break in.

My only criticism is that in order to save weight, the back panel of the cabinet is somewhat thin MDF (the rest of the cabinet is sturdy plywood). The back panel resonates on some of the lower notes, but to counteract this, I added a single vertical brace on the inside of the panel made of 2x2 pine. I put a strip of toolbox liner between the brace and the panel to prevent vibration and screwed it on. The only sign on the modification is a row of vertical screws up the middle of the back panel, and most importantly, it fixed the resonance issue and reinforced the panel.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the cabinet as it sounds great, looks great, does not weigh much, and was very affordable (I bought mine as a Level 1 open box for a slight discount).
