I was shopping around for a professional Fender tube amp that would deliver with: Good Size, FX, Output/Input options (Additional Speakers/FX Loops/Channel switch for AMP FX), perfect midrange wattage for loud cleans (and possible break-up if needed to be louder), great built FX quality, 2 possible channels with a good reverb included. Well, let me tell you that this amplifier delivers all of this. I highly considered the 22W Reverb Deluxe as these 2 were priced close enough (Considering The Deluxe Reverb is a full-on tube amp). However, I decided that this one was the only Fender out there that had all these options and would still keep the tube quality sound. You do sacrifice convenience with the digital reverb and less tubes, but this amp with my liverpool tech 21 and TS9DX Tubescreamer pedals screams smooth crunchy clean tonality that comes out from my 2013 SG Standard (with 57'and 57 plus' pickups, and my Les Paul Classic with DiMarzio's 36th anniversary on both). It is portable and not that heavy. I bought this amp at the right time before it sadly became discontinued. I play in small and midrange (well amplified) venues, and this amp is LOUD! I would recommend this to Midrange players (like myself) who gig often, and are looking for an amp that will project great sound with any pedal that you plug in to it.

I bought this amp a few months ago and was having great luck with it. Until about a month and a half ago. At first it just appeared that a capacitor went bad. Then I found out that Fender is having a lot of trouble with it's "Vintage Modified" line of amps. I finally got to talk to the authorized Fender repair guy today, after more than a month, and he told me that Fender was considering doing some sort of recall on these amps. I asked him when my amp would be fixed and ready to pick up. He said he wasn't sure. He tried to order parts from Fender and they were on back order. He said he had been seeing a lot of problems with the "Vintage Modified" amps lately, and they were supposed to be sending him a kit to fix some of the problems. I have always loved Fender products. But after more than a month of waiting on a junk amp simply because Fender won't stock a few basic components has changed my opinion. Fender is letting a lot of loyal guitar players down. Avoid this amp like the plague. Leo, you are sadly missed.

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I wrote at least 2-3 yrs ago about this amp when I first heard it demo'd at the Winter NAMM in Anaheim. I was so impressed that I went out to get one right away. About 9 months ago, I had been looking for a HRD and decided to swap with a good friend. When I later heard him putting it through the paces and the sound coming from my former amp, I was hating myself for selling. This amp delivers in a medium sized venue where there was a lot of hooping & hollering, a lot drummer, bass player, key board and cowboys with several suds down their guts. While my friend and I play the same style of music; 60-70's, blues, country, and southern rock, the amp is versatile enough to handle it all. My only complaint would be that the cage around the tubes rest very close to the speaker and if I wanted to up grade (personal reasons only) to another speaker, it appears it would be a chore trying to get one to fit in, and I found that the on/off and standby switch at times came on but no sound. I did take it to a local Fender Dealer for a look, they replaced the rocker style switches, and it still would do it now and then, but I simply clicked it off, and back on it went the second time. Never stopped, cut out, or interfered at a gig or jam. Other than that, the amp is super portable in weight, the footswitch has it has been mentioned is 25' long and you won't need much else in effects as it has the gain,chorus/delay/reverb switches on the pedalboard spread far enough not to accidentally click the wrong one. It's powerful at 40watts, don't let the negative reviews kid you, and the price for this gem is cheap for a Fender.

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a great amp. I primarily play a LP. The clean channel is total vintage Fender & the effect sounds great. It's the perfect amp for someone who isn't looking to buy or lug around a thousand stomp boxes. The drive channel could be a little beefier & maybe have a little more depth but for someone like me who plays mostly 80's stuff it's perfect. And the newer stuff I do play is mostly Foo Fighters or similar bands with a brighter, cleaner sounding distortion anyway. Great amp, great price & unlimited versatility. A must for regular gig'ers or otherwise. Nice job Fender.

          Deluxe VM

          By Carmine De Santo

          from Southern NJ

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have been searching for a new amp for quite some time.
I am a little surprised by the great reviews because I didn't find this amp to be an $800 amp.
The effects were adequate but not the best I've heard. I currently have a Stage 1000 and the effect's are better. I'm trying to break away from the solid state amps though I love the weight of them and the size and weight of the Deluxe VM would have been perfect for me. I may still consider it if the store will give me 30 days to try it out.

Classic Fender Sound with great DSP

          By Eric Schultze

          from Kingston Ontario

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This has become my main amp both on stage and in the studio. I have the perfect balance of volume and tone. The on board effects are great and I love not having to run around with a pedal board anymore!
The two channels are great! The clean channel gives you that classic Fender sparkle. The drive channel give everything form nice dirt to a down right growl. The Chorus, Reverb and Delay are fantastic.
          Well built and very sturdy!
No more pedal board dance for me. I just grab this beauty and go. Very good price point for all you are getting.

great all in one tube amp

          By Scott Tompkins

          from colorado

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I love this amp. I have several other amps, but for that old time fender sound with a celestion speaker this amp is my go to, for travelling around. It has built in delay, reverb and chorus and a clean and dirty channel all selectable from an included 4 button pedal with a long (25' ?) cord. It sounds fantastic from the single 12" speaker and gets plenty loud. I love the tone and not having to carry a pedal board when i just got to a buddy's house for a couple of hours or do a small gig. I gave it an 8 because I have had fender amps with a little nicer tone, but for an all in one tube setup, this is pretty great.

Great Tube sound but with Digital effects built in Best of both

          By Charles Mathis

          from Illinois-Texas

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Great amp, great effects and easy to use. The delay has just the right settings for my style of playing and I can set it to up the volume by changing channels without a volume pedal. Like all powerful amps you have to carry the weight. That is bad on older people.
I loved this thing out of the box with the effcts pedal that gives me a lot of control over this beast. Forty watts of tube power and effects too, don't get better than that. Great for my finger style and lead work in Country Music
Solid built similar to my Deluxe Reverb I had in 64.
          Good price.

Have I got a PUP ? not happy

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I got the Deluxe vm as a package buy with a B'bender50th anni' tele'. from a guy who had not used the amp at all. To my ears it is harsh and metalic with no sustain on the clean channel, notes just die off.The Drive' channel is better but still harsh on the treble end and not what I expect from valves. After reading other comments I feel mine may have issues as I would not dream of gigging it with its present sound, also it feels wrong', just no spring under the fingers, like tapping on a steel plate.I wanted to love this amp but at present divorce is looking like the only way.

          No stomp box needed

          By Booger

          from Texas

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

After years of lugging Mesa Boogies around, I wanted something lighter. I'm also finding the need for some effects. So, this amp fits the bill. Typical Fender clean tone. Playing mostly with a Tele, haven't spent much time with the LP on it - but it has the twang needed for what I'm doing. The drive channel is decent. I really like the delay - fattens up the sound for the rockabilly stuff and I don't have to carry around stomp boxes. I found myself using the chorus more and more at practice the other night - it's not over the top. Nice wash without sounding like an effect. This is nice little amp. It's not for shredders, but it has a home with country or the blues.

          I Love This Amp

          By Wolfhound

          from Lakeport, CA

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Very clean and quiet background, surprising power and volume along with excellent portability. With the on board special effects and four button stomp box, you can play blues, metal, rock or jazz with just the addition of a wah pedal. The shared control for delay and chorus is a little confusing at first, but I'm starting to get used to it. All things considered, Fender has hit one out of the park with the Vintage Modified DeLuxe. This is a fantastic amp!
