Maybe every one who buy's this amp is a gain addict or something But I use this head through a Marshall 1960 vintage cab in my metal band and the drive channel has more than enough gain.I cant say enough good things about itit been around the country, played side by side with boogies and marshall's and trayner's and peaveys and it always holds its own
I received this amp in the mail yesterday. I am very impressed with the sound. I was a little leary because of the low price tag, but it just turned out to be a great deal. I plugged my Strat into it and messed around with the bass, gain, more gain. They all sounded great.
I have this amp and the fm100 cab and it is true what the others say, the clean channel is awesome. the reverb is something special as well and it sounds equally good clean and dirty. the only gripe ive had with this amp is the distortion, to me it sounds too nasaly or something. I cant really put my finger on it, but it led me to sticking with my practice amp for a while cause it just sounds off in my ears. Dont let that get you down however! play it yourself and see what you think! this amp is really loud, played it in my friends garage and you could hear it about a half mile away on lvl 4.SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR WINK GRIN TURN IT TO TEN!
I play Jazz, Blues and some funk. This is in my experince of 30 years the best value out there. First, when using the matching Fender 4x12 cab, the clean channel is sparkling, crisp, and perfect if you use a Pod or other effects series. Also, the amp is lod. I mean LOUD. I mean kill a small child at 50 yards loud. So there is nore headroom than you'll ever need. The distortion channel is pretty good..a crazy sustain and very articulate sqaure wave that is surprisingly warm for a solid state rig. I use humbuckers and of course, your mileage may vary, but this is the most fun I've had with my clothes on in years and this amp will fill ANY room or hall. Only downside is with the cab it's heavy, but that's a small price to pay. If you need a monster amp skip the Marshall and go straight to this baby.

I have been playing metal since 1985. I have had dozens of amps. Most of them have too many bells and whistles that sound terrible. I have been searching for an amp that could not color the sound of my effects ,just amplify them. This is the best ,loudest most accurate effects reproducing amp I have ever heard. I use a line 6 POD XT and Gearbox on my PC.Everything I hear with headphones is now what I get with this amp only it gives me a pounding in the chest and ringing ears. It is amazing. It is bombproof and I have found the last setup I could ever need.27 years of searching, but this wasn't available back in the day. lol
- Was this a gift?:
I run this through a crate cab with vintage 30's 12 inch speakers, it sounds amazing. The distortion gets up there really well, it pulls off amazing pinch harmonics. The only problem is it does get a little noisy, but theres quite a few solutions to that. It gets LOUD too, and personally speaking, the spring reverb and analog distortion makes it a far better value than any line 6 amp.
This is the cleanest sounding amp head I have ever heard. the clean channel makes my guitars sing, and crisp. With sctreaming highs. It's also the loudest amp I have ever owned. I had a big amp head before, but I usualy never turn the volume up over 2 1/2 when practicing w/ this. In live perfomances I could never see needing a second rig. I gave the product a 4 because it seems to lack a little bass end on my big 300w 4X12. However it may have more bass with the matching smaller Fener cabinet. The dist. is wonderfull and thick W/ alot of controls, but not verry heavy, even on the "more dist" channel. I recomend using pedals for the more extreame distortion sounds. The only other little cons are the switch is on the back, and the great reverb it has are not switchable on the foot switch. Other than that I can finally hear what my guitars should really sound like, and thier full potential on this amp.
You want an amp with a great clean tone, but don't have $800 to get a good tube amp? This guy is your answer. I use it for that great clean reverby-Fender tone, and I love to run my pedalboard through it - it supports multiple effects pedals without sacrificing tone. I admit, I hate the distortion on this amp, but, well, that's why I have a Big Muff.
I perchased this head and the matching cabinet locally and I really like it. Good quality, features and price. I play an ESP EC-1000 Deluxe and It has EMG 81 and 60 pickups that couldn't be better. The clean channel on this amp is amazing and it works great with the EMG 60. Theres one problem though, the distortion on this amp just can't get... Brutal. I tried a lot and I was suprised because and EMG 81 is a very heavy, crunchy pickup. But this amps distortion just doesn't cut the mustard. It amazing in all other aspects but that one. So I'm going to have to get a pedal to make it Brutal. But overall the Fender FM100H and FM412 cab make a Killer half stack. I highly recommend this for the average guitarist who wants to play loud.
love this amp! i overdrive the clean channel with a mxr doubleshot and a eh big muff. i play it through a vox 2x12 cab.
The Fender FM 100H is a good head for a low price. The spring reverb has a real classic sound to it, and the tone is straight Fender. I play a Squier Strat supped up with Seymour Duncan pickups, and it needs to be said that the distortion channel on this head leaves something to be desired; it sounds weak and almost nasal. If you're a beginning player on a tight budget, this is the head for you. For anyone else, I'd recommend going a step up on the price ladder.
I bought this head for two reasons.1) I was sick of dealing with my $70 30w Drive amp.2) I was sick of being drowned out by my bands drummer. When i got it i was a little skeptical because of its price, but even with a stereo speaker the wound was 100x's better than my practice amp. I dont have any complaints, and to this day (I've had it for about 5 months, moved it atleast 3 times a week, and play about 10 hours a week.) it has worked perfectly.
I've been playing for many years and play many styles. This amp is a great value in view of the many high priced units out there. For the money, Fender gave a lot on this amp.It sounds good on all channels and has plenty of power for it's size. I run it through an old Ampeg 4-12 bottom with 4 Altec's and it cranks on Jazz,Blues,Country,Rock. With a 5 year warranty you can't go wrong. Buy this amp and have fun while not breaking the wallet.
This amp is definatly my best purchase as a musician so far, and maybe ever. This amp is amazingly loud, the clean channel is the best clean ive ever heard on any amp, Fender defiatly lives up to there name on that. The distortion channel is great too, i no longer use any distortion stompbox, theres no need for one. The only problem with this amp is the tortex is not that great. Its softer witch allows more smudges to show and scrapes to happen, but hey thats part of it. Great buy recomend it for everyone. Plus you cant beat the price.
I have been playing guitar for over 8 years now and I think I have a nick for what it takes for a great sound. I love the fm100h fender head. It has everything that you need. I have this head with a Hohner amp cabinet. I'm going to get the matching fm412 amp cabinet in a while from now. I love the clean but the thing is, is that once you have the guitar in input one in the head it gets too ringy so now i use input two. which allows me to play without my ears bleeding. haha, anyways its an awesome amp with a great price. affordable and durable all the way.thanks fender for this amp head
I just bought two of these fender fm100H heads. I am running them into two 300 watt 4/12 Marshall Cabinets. Firstly, these amps have a very good clean and rich "fender sound". The reverb is also very good. I use external effects and external distortion so I will probably never use the drive channel. These amps sound really great and that is all that matters. They are also lighter than most amp heads and easier to carry. I am very satisfied with them and glad I bought them.
i played this at a local music store. it sounds awsome for a solid state amp. but wht can u expect from fender. every amp over 30 watts that ive played and owned by them are awsome and im about to buy this head.
Compared to almost every other entry level solid state head, this amp is by far, what I consider, the best buy. this amp blows the Marshall MG series away. Considering both distortions get weak over time and essentially end up relying on distortion pedals, the fender's clean is much more versatile and nice sounding. Typical to the fender name.
I bought this head and the FM412 Cab too and together it is the best setup I have had. The head is pretty flexible in the sounds you want to get out of it, and the cab is LOUD. I had the stack up against a wall at my house and it made my clock fall down, it's good power for a small price. Also musicians friend sends all of their stuff FAST. Thanks again and a positive good buy.
I bought this amp a month ago and I have been blown away with it's quality I love the sound and it has a mean appearance that I want for stage use I'm personally going to replace the black grillclothe with a silver one for that vintage fender look when I get a chance but for the musical quality I love it I have my GNX2 running through it when I want a marshall tone and with my pedal mixture it has no limits I've never had this mixture past half volume and my neighbors have complained many a time and thier son blares his guitar at home all the time I love the tone when I run it without my pedal as it has beautiful clean tone and the spring reverb is incredible not to mention the MORE for when you wanna go from a rythme to a lead for a solo
