Comments about Fender Limited-Edition Blues Deluxe "Smoky Tweed" Reissue 40W 1x12 Combo Amp:

I use an AS(HHS) Strat and a 61 re-issue Gibson SG on this amp. Great clean sounds. Amazing power. The SG has a wonderful bluesy sound out of the Deluxe. No problems with the Jensen speaker but one might want to upgrade to a larger output (it's just 40W).

The only legitimate issue I have found thus far is the crunch (or lack thereof) of the other channel. It tends to be a bit murky and muddy. I switched out the tubes and put all Tung-Sol in the Pre Amp sections but the murkiness was still evident (as well as some overall flatness).

Mixing it up with a Preferred Series in V1 and any decent tube combination in the others (I found that the sovtek and svetlana sounded better in V2 and 3 than either Tung Sol) should help.

Amp is sounding like a dream. An awesome crisp and ringing clean and a deep, rocking crunch on both channels. Footswitch and cover were included. Very happy with this purchase.

Comments about Fender Limited-Edition Blues Deluxe "Smoky Tweed" Reissue 40W 1x12 Combo Amp:

I do not often post reviews, but I have benefited greatly from others so I guess it's my turn. I am six months or so into this amp and getting close to 80 hour of use at performance levels (I consider the speaker to be "broken- in" at this point). I have been playing for a while, so I have the usual compliment of guitars-LP, PRS in humbucking and Strat and Tele in single coil land. I picked this amp up to do some blending and I have general veered away from Fender amps due to their reputation for clean tones. I was always looking for creamy distortion not bell like clarity. However I was surprised to find that this amp has some real attitude. It has a lot of volume at low levels and when dial up modestly it really burns yet unlike the darker amps I own. It retains more upper mid and highs when driven and it sounds cool. I am strongly considering a speaker soak for lower volume use while hopefully preserving the higher volume tone. I really like the Jensen speaker. I am considering buying an extension shell and loading it with another Jensen. I have run the amp with a pair of greenbacks in primary and extension mode and that sounds great too. Now some issue to address- There is a lack of headroom issue in this amp. I swapped out some tubes and it did not make much of an impact. I found a reasonable fix by just using the reduced db input. This added enough headroom for my needs along with rolling back the volume knob at times. Another point to consider is this is a production line amp and I had to send back my first one back due to a defect but the current one works great. In performance mode, I would encourage you to mic the front and back of this amp. I have noticed there is a more resonant, ballsy sound from the back and a brighter sound from the front. I'm sure a sound eng. somewhere is laughing at this saying "well of course"
If you are looking for a versatile rock or blues amp, you're in the right place. If you want heavy metal or spanking clean country, keep looking. This amp has turned out to be a lot of fun to play, tweak, and has possibilities beyond what I was looking for in a blender amp.

Comments about Fender Limited-Edition Blues Deluxe "Smoky Tweed" Reissue 40W 1x12 Combo Amp:

I WAS SO LET DOWN WHEN I GOT A DEFECTIVE ONE, BECAUSE I HAD A BIG GIG READY FOR IT. I KNOW THIS IS A GOOD AMP FOR SURE, ESPECIALLY FOR THE BLUES. ME AND MY MANY AXES CAN'T WAIT FOR THE COMING REPLACEMENT. THEY SAID THEY'D SHIP IT ONE DAY GROUND, WHICH IS GOOD FAITH ON THEIR PART. THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY CUSTOMER-ORIENTED WITH ME. I JUST WISH THAT THE FOLKS AT THE MANUFACTURING LOCATION MONITORED THEIR QUALITY CONTROL BETTER BEFORE THEY SHIPPED. EITHER THAT OR M.F. SHOULD PLUG IN TO EACH TUBE AMP WITH A CHEAP GUITAR TO CHECK ALL CONTROLS BEFORE THEY BOXED AND SHIPPED. THEY WOULD SAVE A LOT OF MONEY ON RETURNS IF THEY KNEW IT WORKED BEFORE THEY EVEN BOXED IT! I'M GONNA GET THIS AMP AND WRITE A NEW GREAT REVIEW IF THEY POST THIS REVIEW, AND THEN DO ME RIGHT ON THE RETURN! ELSE I'LL HAVE TO GO BACK TO LUGGING AROUND MY BLUES DEVILLE RE-ISSUE TWEED 4X10, WHICH ARRIVED IN PERFECT CONDITION! LET'S GET QC TIGHTENED UP HERE! GOOD PRICES DON'T TRUMP FUNCTIONALITY!

Comments about Fender Limited-Edition Blues Deluxe "Smoky Tweed" Reissue 40W 1x12 Combo Amp:

This is my 5th amp and I bought it hoping that it would motivate me to sell two of my other amps. I'm thinking that will happen now. I really didn't need it but I liked that it had 2 channels, the two function pedal, and the FX loop which my Gibson GA15-RV does not. The Gibson wins the creamy clean tone contest as this one just sounds a bit too dirty a bit too quickly. I'm plugging into the #2 input since that is the low one and keeps the sound cleaner, especially with humbuckers. I read somewhere that increasing the bias might warm this amp up a bit but I haven't tried that ... yet.

I've had it about three days and played it a fair amount in that time. Today I was really putting it through its paces and realized it had serious and unacceptable rattling problems. I decided it needed to be fixed and pretty much disassembled it pulling out both the reverb tank and the main power/control section. It was then that I started tightening up every screw in the amp that I could find. Most of them needed tightening at least a half turn. Some a lot more. I think the main culprit of the rattle were six nuts that hold the front panel panel in place where the speaker is mounted. This thing is made in Mexico and Fender QC needs to be improved if they're letting this go to market like this. I also super glued the tube guard that is mounted to the back cover. I tightened every screw I could find inside of the amp and put it all back together and the rattle is barely detectable in there if at all.

The jury is still out on the stock Jensen speaker but I'm willing to let it break in for a few months and see how it sounds. I'm not thrilled with the reverb but it's decent. The Gibson amp has spoiled me on both reverb and clean warm tone.

This one's a keeper unless the rattle comes back. Might even do a mod or two and maybe try a different speaker down the road. For what I paid with it on sale and about ten extra you know what added shipping (thought shipping was free) that I wasn't too thrilled about, I think it's a good amp for the money.
      YMMV

Comments about Fender Limited-Edition Blues Deluxe "Smoky Tweed" Reissue 40W 1x12 Combo Amp:

When I started to seriously learn to play I thought I wanted massive distortion and lots of effects. I have gone thru Peavey, Vox and Marshall to find that Fender tube tone is the foundation for all the sounds I want. This amp has great dynamics and for me is all about the tone. I am very satisfied.

Just a Sweet sounding and Beautiful Smokey lacquered Tweed. The 1x12 Jensen has great headroom up to 3 on the volume knob on the clean channel and after that breaks up for beautiful Blues tones. The natural Overdrive on this Fender will become another Classic. No pedals needed ! Channel 2 = High Gain Fun.
