Fender

A favored implement among bassists for leveling entire city blocks.

The 350W Fender Rumble 350 Bass Combo Amp takes you and your sound to DEFCON 1 by forcing 350 watts of seismic bass power through a pair of 10" Fender Special Design speakers and a piezo horn (for highs). Brace yourself—the Rumble amp is not for the meek. You can further tailor your tone by blending adjusted-to-taste overdrive with pure, clean bass tone for first-rate Fender bass sound. Other useful-in-real life features include a horn on/off switch, XLR output, 3-band active EQ with semi-parametric mid controls and "punch" and "scoop" presets, and springloaded side handles and removable casters all in a ported, rugged, and easily portable enclosure.

The full-featured Rumble 350 bass combo features a professionally voiced preamp and a high efficiency digital power amplifier, vented cabinet design for enhanced bass response, quiet variable speed fan cooling, and a piezo horn with on/off switch. Get a killer overdrive effect with the help of the gain and blend controls (footswitchable with optional footswitch) optimized for bass to give mellow warmth or heavy distorted tones. The Punch and scoop preset EQ shapes are ideal for finger and slap style tones. The 4-band active EQ delta comp adaptive compression circuitry gives you even tone, without losing the finer details of your sound. The included line out is great for direct recording or live use, and the combo also features a headphone jack for silent jamming and practicing. An included auxilliary input works great for CD/MP3, tape or drum machine to help you get into the mix and work out your rhythms and tempos. Black vinyl covering, rugged black metal grille, and nickel corners round out the sturdy shell to this combo.

Incredible Deal and Ideal for Our School

Features:

The clean channel, grind, horn on/off, and solid design elements including the rolling casters make this an incredible value.  I only do not rate 10 because I know a stack would be a more professional rig; our middle school rock-and-roll performance curriculum doesn't call for anything louder.  In fact, I doubt we'll ever get past 3 or 4 out of 10 on the volume knob--this thing is very loud and powerful.

Quality:

This has the feel and performance of an elite product from an elite company in music gear.

Overall:

I look forward to continuing to build our studios and performance gear through musiciansfriend.com and I highly recommend this solution to those looking to grow beyond plugging the bass direct to the PA, or using old crackly bass amplification.  I have learned now that a key to a good bass sound is to have a lot more power than you actually need, especially compared to what works well with guitars.

Good model, bad amp.

| Review By: Punch-NUPzO | 7 months, 1 week ago

Features:

Features are versatile and easy to use.  I got this amp to use with a short scale fretless bass in my hip hop/funk band and an active surf bass in my hardcore band, and I have been able to get any tone desired.  I chose this amp particularly because I am a small person, so I needed something that wasn't too heavy for me to load.  For the sound, the size of this amp is fantastic and the casters and handles make it easy to move.

Quality:

Bought the amp brand new and BOTH speakers went completely dead simultaneously about six weeks later for no obvious reason.  The amp had seen maybe ten hours of play time and the volume had never even been turned halfway up.  I took my amp to the nearest service center that does warranty repair (130 mile round trip), and two weeks later they called to inform me that the speakers are on back order for the next two months!  I sold my other gear to buy this thing, so I am without an amp to use for the next dozen or so gigs.  I am not pleased.

Value:

In theory this is a great deal, and when the amp was working, I couldn't have been happier.  The only gripe I had was the tolex is cheap and tears easily.  I'll see if Fender does anything to compensate me for all the time I'll spend without my brand new amp before I rate the value.

Overall:

Overall a lot of consideration was put into the design of this amp, and the brief period of time it worked for me was awesome.  I thought I had made a good investment and that the amp could be used to gig pretty much anywhere.  But the fact that the speakers blew for no reason and Fender has them on back order is a huge problem.
