Look, I have 5 great amps from Ampeg & Hartke. I needed something small and portable for some smaller gigs on the Westside. Took a chance and ordered this puppy unseen. WOW, great power and punch. Goes from warm bluesy to hot slap all by how I attack the strings. Looks like we will be using this one to record our new CD. Great amp for a great price.

I have been lugging around an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro and the Ampeg 6 x 10 cabinet for years now.
Hands down the absolute best world class bass tone on the planet. ( unless you want to change tubes at One hundred plus every six months like I would have to ). I play 100 + shows a year. Mostly 250 to 500 seats .
I am now 60 years old, and was looking for a smaller rig that didn't compromise my sound.
I was , and still am , very unlucky in my search.
The new Fender rumble 500 watt was interesting at first. It seemed to come somewhat close to getting that Ampeg sound until I turned it up. Yes, there should be enough volume for small to medium gigs, but thats not the only concern here is it ? I noticed as the volume increased, the tone decreased.
The louder you play , the less tone you will have . This seems to be a common trait with most of these small solid state combo's . They have a "sweet spot" you need to stay within , or you will not have control over your tone if you exceed. I was MOST impressed with the TC Electronics Mini heads with a 4x10 cab underneath. But then I am back to hauling two pieces of gears, two cases, bla bla bla.
Kind of defeats the " smaller combo" mentality.
I do think for a casual small club player looking for a small
portable combo rig, you should look at the Fender Rumble 500.
However , if you want the best tone with unlimited volume, you will be wanting an Ampeg, Dave Eden World Tour, or similar high wattage name brand rig.
It's a very good value for the money.....but you do get what you pay for !

Comments about Fender RUMBLE 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

It's been a wonderful replacement to my SVT x8 tens/Classic head. I have been using it for a full year doing 1-3 nights a week with it and no problems until night... Bottom end distortion on the low notes of the E string; especially the G note. I bought it with a x5 year new Fender warranty and I will et you know how Bananas at Large and Fender take care of me.

Comments about Fender RUMBLE 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I have the Fender Rumble 500 paired with the Fender Rumble 115 as an extension cabinet. So the config is 500 watts, two 10's, one 15 and two compression tweeters.

This is the best rig I have owned - up to and including my SVT with the 8/10 cab. Between the exceptional tone and portability, hands down, a versatile and fun rig. Easy to find a great tone and easy to change when necessary. I am playing a Fender P-Bass through it with flat wounds and the responsiveness is incomparable. I am struggling to find something to improve upon, and I just can't. Thank you Fender for thinking of us bassists once again.

Comments about Fender RUMBLE 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

Wow. I went into the 500/2-10 Combo for its weight and portability, but I came away with a lot of respect for it. It has a lot of punch already and I added a Rumble 112 Cabinet to it and it sounds awesome. i watched the online video about the 3 tone-sculpting buttons, and was intrigued. The settings each have their places and times for use, but my old '79 Jazz Bass sounds superb with all tone controls flat. So does my '78 Precision Special (much different than what they're calling a P Special nowadays!). I have a Mesa M9 Carbine with a Mesa 4-10 Roadhouse Cab to compare to, and for the small amount of cash the Rumbles set me back, the Fenders hold their own at volumes that I play at. I can no longer haul the Mesa stuff around for its heft, but the Rumble stuff fits the bill in the clubs and small-to-medium venues where I mostly play, and it weighs a lot less than a suitcase my wife would pack for a weekend getaway!

I think I made a wise decision, grasshopper. Don't be afraid to lose the weight.

Comments about Fender RUMBLE 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I have attempted to play the bass for 47 years and have gone through more bass amps that would make your head spin! I had a GK MB115 bass amp that installed a Celestion 300 watt bass amp speaker that sounded nice, but the power was not enough to play in most places I like to play. I then bought the Ampeg 450 watt bass amp that was literally a piece of junk! I returned it and bought a Hartke 150 bass amp that has the paper & aluminum 15" speaker. It sounded nice enough, but when I tried to hit the low end on the E string, it sounded like it had gas and was competing in a farting contest! Seriously folks this is what it sounded like. I found out that the aluminum part of the speaker was pulling away from the paper cone that I found out was a problem with this amp. Needless to say, I sent it back and was offered a huge discount to upsize the Fender 500 watt bully and I was taken aback and was just amazed with this amp.
