Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp with Tolex Covering:

I'm very pleased with this GK MB108 bass combo amp! I had read good reviews of the MB108 not only here on Musician's Friend but on other sites as well so decided to order it and see for myself. Well, I can tell you that for the size of this GK and the price, it is quite an exceptional combo amp! I live in an apartment and haven't had a chance to really turn it up, but even when the gain is turned up a mere quarter of the volume it's loud enough to overshadow the music I'm playing! And the bass, treble and mids can be properly tweaked to give almost any sound a bassist is looking for in their sound. Also I switched between basses both with active and passive pickups as a test, and either pickup type comes through very nicely on this GK! I'm just really impressed by the output this little bass combo amp gives out for its size. Would definitely recommend! A+A+A+

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp with Tolex Covering:

If used correctly, think small room for low-volume practice or possibly playing along with an acoustic guitar or two, this is a really nice-sounding combo amp that does the GK name proud. The minuscule 8" speaker puts out a lot more bass than you would think. What it lacks in deep lows is made up for with a tight, punchy midrange that really cuts through the sound system I use when practicing.

Now if you think you're going to go out and gig with a 25-watt combo amp then you're either really new at playing bass or enjoy breaking things because it's not going to happen because this amp is not designed to be used that way. I read where a new owner of this little amp was running his bass knob at 3:00 while setting the volume at 2:00, and was wondering why it was making speaker and port noises

But if you're looking to add a small practice amp for your room or casual jamming with a couple of friends (not a hard-hitting drummer, mind you), then if you like the inherent sound of Gallien-Krueger bass amps you'll love this one. For under 150 clams it's a pretty good deal.
