OVERVIEW

Great tone and power for rehearsals and medium-size gigs.

The MB112-II has enough power to cut through the mix at rehearsals as well as well as gigs but wont break your back getting there. With 200 watts of output through the 12" Paragon driver and the same 4 band active "variable Q" equalizer and contour control of GK's legendary RB Series amplifiers, this combo will deliver the volume and tone pros have come to expect from GK.

The Auxiliary input allows you to play along to your favorite songs through the internal speaker or through the Headphone output for late night jamming. The MB112-II is also ready for your next gig with features like XLR output with pre/post switch for easy interfacing with P.A. systems and exclusive "Chain Output" to drive GK's MBP Series of powered enclosures when you score that outdoor gig where a little move volume is required.

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB112-II 200W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with Tolex Covering:

I bought this to down-size my rig that I take to and from several different gigs a month. It is very powerful sounding and has some good "oomph" for a little black box. Small enough to use with public transit and 30 pounds is nothing compared to other setups I've had in the past. Drummer on Sunday was skeptical but immediately impressed when I turned it on and he's one of the louder musicians I play with in a venue that doesn't have PA support. GK tone stack is perfect for dialing in the sounds I need in a variety of genres and has every feature I can imagine actually using and nothing else. Ran through a practice with a Trio that I used to use a 560 Watt power amp/pre amp and a 410 speaker cab and it also held it's own and with a better tone. Saving the space in the car and dropping 60+ pounds for load-in/load-out is a real treat while maintaining a professional sound/appearance. It is very sharp looking and it's already helped me get 12 other gigs lined up the first time I took it out. Finally, it's small enough and with the db cut you could practice by yourself without annoying anyone; perfect all-around amp in a compact footprint and the powered extensions could always help if you end up needing to play with guys running half-stacks etc.

bought this to replace an older G & K 2x10. I use my 2 x 12 at church (which is powerful enough to fill a fairly large sanctuary). Very happy with the sound quality and volume - almost that of my older unit at about 1/3 of the weight.

I use this amp for practice in my home. My wife loves it because she can watch her TV shows while I plug in my head phones and don't over power the TV. It's up in the air if it will be able to cut through the drums but again I could add a second cabinet and double the power. The best thing about this amp is very light in weight compared to my very large cabinets I have (2 x 18" , 1 x 15" and 4 x 10" cabs.)

I have the MB112 circa 2011, which is exactly the same except mines got the silver metal grille, which I prefer for protection over the cloth front (although I sure like the look of the black grille cloth). Anyway... this amp is the living end. I've gone from shlepping a 68 lb. Kustom KBA100x around (great amp by the way) to this 200 watt 30 lb. dynamo. Where the Kustom has more EQ options and built-in effects (which aren't half bad used in moderation), the GK MB112 has less than half the weight, twice the power and that unmistakable GK tone. I recently played an outside gig with it, and at a little less than 3/4 volume it kept up with the rest of the band playing to around 150 people without going through the PA. Could have gone through the PA with the XLR out on the GK, but didn't need it. Just a few years ago this type of performance was unheard of in this weight class. Plenty of power, great tone and very gig friendly. No more trying to carry heavy bass amps in the dark at 2 AM!

I bought this amp because I was sick of lugging around an 85 pound 350W backine I had been using. Right after I got it in the mail, I had three back to back gigs. I play in medium sized bars in a four piece band. I was initially worried if it was going to be loud enough, but that was not a problem at all (especially with the PA). It hasn't got a lot of frills, but between the contour switch, 4-band EQ and the DI, it has everything I need. All that in a 25lb very portable package? Totally a winner for me.
