OVERVIEW

Consistent from rehearsal, to studio, to stage.

The Kemper Profiler was designed to be a complete solution for all your guitar playing needs. You can use it just like you would a regular amplifier, or you could use it as a multi-effects unit, or even as the front end for your guitar-based studio.

Nearly all digital guitar amps available today offer the same features-simulations of classic and modern guitar amplifiers and stomp boxes, usually with some digital and studio effects thrown in for good measure. The Kemper Profiler doesn't simply include digital versions of guitar amps, but lets you make a "profile" of your own guitar amp to use inside the Kemper Profiler. You can also load profiles of other guitarists' amps into your Kemper Profiler.

If you want a more technical description: the Kemper Profiler analyzes the sonic characteristics of a reference amplifier. This process allows it to faithfully recreate the characteristic sound of virtually any guitar amp, and adopt the behavior and interaction of the components of the analyzed amplifier.

The Kemper Profiler doesn't just capture the sound of your guitar amp alone; you can also capture the sound of the cab and the mics (including the mic distance and angle). You can store 1000 amp profiles in total and it comes with 30 different stompbox effects as well as a master effects section with master delay and reverb.

FEATURES
Play through a standard cab with CabDriver mode
Feed a full-range monitor system
Store 1000 amp profiles
30 stompbox effects
Master delay and reverb

I first bought one of these in 2015 after wanting one for a few years. I have a small home studio and also play during the church service and in a small group at church. I own some nice tube amps (Peavey, Mesa and Rivera) and have GAS as bad as anyone else, but I don't have a ton of space for keeping my amps. The first Kemper went into my rack in the studio at home. I am simply amazed at the features on this thing. I bought the version without the integrated amplifier. Not only can I download amp profiles from Kemper for free, but I can also profile my own amps - which I've done. I was really skeptical about being able to capture the sonic DNA from an amp and have the Kemper sound the same as a high end tube amp, but it really works! You also have access to a wide range of effects. The Kemper has the ability to store 1000 profiles! I could never fit that many amps in my studio, or home. I had been using my Peavey tube amp at church, but decided I wanted a little more flexibility to access different tones. I bought a second Profiler and put that one in my rack on stage at church - I also run our sound with a Presonus 16.4.2 mixer that I put in an SKB Mighty Gig Rig. Having the Kemper Profiler means no more worries about tube failure. Having two Profilers allows me to preview new amp profiles at home and tweak them to my liking and then put them on my church rig using a small USB thumb drive. I can go from using a Fender Super Champ in the AM service to using a Dumble in the evening service. I have been thinking about buying the floor remote to make it even easier to switch profiles from one song to the next.

If you want reliable performance and an amazing palette of amps, tones and effects, you really need a Kemper Profiler!

CONS:
99.99% of all Kemper profiles suck; fortunately, there are thousands of profiles available.
Commercial profiles available for purchase from "The Amp Factory" and others are complete garbage and sound nothing like the online samples; total rip-off, stay away.
In my opinion, the factory profiles are all effects-laden junk; I deleted all the factory profiles from my unit.
The built-in effects are mediocre.
There is a midrange "notch" that exists in every Kemper profile I have ever heard; no amount of tweaking or cabinet switching can eliminate it.
There is no software editor for the Kemper, making even light tweaking tedious and time consuming.
PROS:
The Kemper can produce many usable tones with very low noise and very high sound quality.
Recording with the Kemper is extremely convenient.
All of the best Kemper profiles can be downloaded from the Rig Exchange for free.
The Kemper possesses many flexible sound-shaping tools that can help you get the tone you need.
You can practice late at night through headphones with great sound.

Comments about Kemper Profiler Rack Rackmount Guitar Amplifier:

Very high quality piece of professional equipment. This is the real deal for superior tone and response. i was previously using the Boss GT series equipment and was able to get some good realistic tones, but the feel and response just wasn't there. The Kemper resolved all of this. Tone is absolutely beautiful and the feel and response is just like an amp. simply amazing to me. I profiled my Fargen Olde 800 and it is absolutely awesome. Then with the ability to download vintage speaker cabinets with every mic possible opens up the range and possibilities. This unit could become a serious black hole of searching and tweaking for the perfect tone. My wife may never see me again!

I purchased a flight case for it and it travels well. Have used it live direct to the board and it performed and sounds awesome. My monitor mix sounded just like my amp, if not better. Ended up getting the FCB1010 pedal board with the Uno chip. Pedal switching works great, but the expression pedals just plain suck. Get a high quality expression pedal.

Comments about Kemper Profiler Rack Rackmount Guitar Amplifier:

Recently purchased the Kemper after owning the Axe Fx basic model. Although there are a lot of features the layout is so simple and intuitive that I was able to make adjustments, firmware updates and amp favorites sections in seconds. literally that easy. These types of steps were much more cumbersome if not downright difficult with the Axe Fx. On to the Amp Profiles- well they're not models- each title feels like a breathing reacting amplifier- you literally get 300 to play with right out of the box- but to my amazement, I downloaded the rig manager and was able load into my Kemper another 15 dream amps that the kemper community had posted. By the way, this was 15 out of over 5,500 other amp choices to load! The tones I was able to create in a very short time had me shaking my head. Each amp can be tweaked and the range of tone is amazing. I was able to adjust any amp to a point where i was capturing a great sound and then of course could save that snapshot immediately. I feel that the technology in the Kemper finally has captured what many others have attempted in the amp modeling field. The Kemper is in a class of it's own. This is a no brainer purchase- why buy an amp when you can own this and own every amp exactly as they originally sound, and capture any others with the profiling feature. they say to primitives advanced technology will seem as magic- well, kemper is pure magic to this primitive...

Comments about Kemper Profiler Rack Rackmount Guitar Amplifier:

I think I have finally found the missing link. Like any piece of new gear you will need to sit down and learn how to use it. Every time I do, I learn something new. It is allowing me to profile my collection of amps and when done sell them off. Not only putting money back in my pocket but clearing up some much need space in my studio. Some amps I will never sell but some are easy to let go. The profiles available on rig manager via Kempers site are endless so you can pretty much have any amp you want. I cant hear the difference between my tube amps and the profiles at all. Worth every penny. I will only be using it in the studio for now so I cant say how it performs in a live situation. You will need to buy a midi pedal that will work with this unit if you want to use it in a live situation. If you can afford this then you should own it.

Comments about Kemper Profiler Rack Rackmount Guitar Amplifier:

For many years, I've heard how great the Kemper is, but the price was a bit daunting. So, I went through different rigs, looking for specific tones. When I needed a different tone, I needed to change my rig. So, I decided to try the modeling rigs.

The problem with the modeling rigs is that they are software representations of how the developers/programmers "think" the amp is going to react. For the most part, they do a pretty good job. The downside is that when the modeler gets older, and the development stops, you no longer have any updates, or any new amp models.

This is NOT the case with the Kemper. The Kemper is not a modeler, it's a profiler. You profile an amp, and you have the sound in your Kemper. The sound is generated from the Kemper's profiling, which means that it is NOT guitar specific.

It comes with a ton of built in effects, so that you can get any sound you are looking for.

You basically have a unit that is "future-proof". If an amp comes out in a couple of years, you can profile that amp, and have it in your arsenal. If you think about it, it's pretty much the cheapest amp head on the market, because it's essentially EVERY head on the market.

The 3rd party vendors, selling profiles is amazing. You can find any amp that you could ever want.

This is the best choice I've ever made. The sound quality blows away anything I have played through before. Simply amazing. I wish I had taken the plunge sooner.

Comments about Kemper Profiler Rack Rackmount Guitar Amplifier:

This thing is astonishing. I owned one early on, sold it to go back to a tube rig and ended up purchasing again. I am blessed with the resources to acquire any rig I could have ever wanted. I was thinking about going with a boutique EL84 based head, iso cab or some other means of providing outstanding tube tone in a zero stage volume environment and there is no better solution than the Kemper. Even if I got only one tone out of this thing it would be worth the cost. It's authentic tone and feel is that good. The huge bonus is that I get world class AC tone and an unlimited library of other amps for other miscellaneous projects. I use Strymon outboard effects for reverb and delay but the Kemper's effects are also excellent.

I've had the KPA for a couple months now, intensively testing different amp models, effects, recording uses, etc., and so far I cannot complain for much! The KPA has great stock tones to start, and for the most part the profiles don't need much tweaking for them to be usable. What is also very cool about the KPA is that you can upload different amp profiles from the main Kemper webpage and get nearly unlimited amount of tones. The recording through both the analog and digital outs (SPDIF) are great and also, the KPA takes pedals in front of the amp very well! I currently run a Seymour Duncan 805 OD and Vise Grip Compressor and it does it beautifully!

Comments about Kemper Profiler Rack Rackmount Guitar Amplifier:

Having great tone is very important to me, but lets face it, you have to turn most tube amps up to get their best sounds. Most stages won't allow that. Most apartments won't, either. The Kemper delivers amazing tone at any volume - pure and simple. Great amp tones that would fool you on a blind test with the best tube amps available at any price. It's simply better than any other product out there. Better than any modeler, even the Axe-FX (any of their versions).

The Kemper Profiling Amp sounds just as good as a tube amp because it reproduces the RECORDED amp tones. It's not a modeler, working with algorithms based on someone's interpretation of an amp. The Kemper is reproducing actual tube amp tones it has recorded. The Kemper comes from the factory with a bunch of great amp tones. You can profile your own amps and take every amp you own in a small, portable device. That's what I did - I have 20 of my best boutique or modded tube amps with me at all times.

Guitarists are an extremely rigid and conservative (gear-wise) bunch of people. Too often, they 'hear with they eyes, instead of their ears.' Brand names mean more than playability or tone. They see a name brand amp on stage and then judge the tone. If you are willing to hear with your ears, then you will LOVE the Kemper.

Until the Kemper, I preferred my Diezel, Engl, and modded Marshall amps. I love the Kemper so much I have sold most of my tube amps. I just don't need them any longer! Sure, the Kemper might cost more than many single tube amps, but you get essentially hundreds of real tube amp tones inside, plus an impressive array of effects. Considering what you get, it's a bargain.
