I love this head, I use it to practice in my room or at a big concert. Its prefect for both. I got it used and in good condition. The recording output doesnt work right, but that may be because of it being used. Ptherwise it works fine. I have only used it at half of the full use so far, but im goong to get an other speaker cable soon so i can use it at its fullest.

I got this head and Line 6 cab used for a really good price so i can't complain about that. It has a ton of features but after hours of knob turning I couldn't get any of the built in amp mods (distortions) to sound useable. I am a big-time tweaker so I know it's not me. The distortions are just too muddy or tinny at high volume. However, I found that the best way to use this amp is to set every channel to Red Clean. I have the FBV Express pedal so I use channel 1 as totally clean, then add reverb, and different delays to the the other 3 channels to color the sounds accordingly. I use a ZOOM GFX-8 pedal in front of the whole rig for different distortions and it makes a world of difference. Using external distortion gives you the ability to turn the master volume up beyond 4 without making the whole rig sound like it's buried under a hay stack.

Spider II HD

By IBZROX

from Princeton, NJ

What a great amp this is. It has everything to keep the musician content for a long time. Everything: The Clean, the Twang, The Crunch, The Metal, and the Insane, are all amazingly great. The only problem is that it is extremely deep. Sticking in a good stomp box, or a guitar with hot pickups helps eliminate this problem.

Line 6 Spider 2

By Spider 2 User

Only a few of the amp models sound okay. The red and green blues models sound the best, and the red clean channel is okay. I use a Fender American Stratocaster and a few pedals with the Spider 2. If you use one or two overdrive or distortion pedals with the drive turned down on these channels, you can get okay sound out of this amp.

Ive had this amp head for about a year. It was used when i bought it but just a litle. it has all the effects on it that you will ever need and all the channels sound great. BUT the metal channel didn't have the sustain I needed. The insane channel has alot of distortion and sustain but it's not that great at REAL lows like drop C tuning. At loud volumes it's hard to keep it quiet. It's more of a practice amp.

hey i've had this amp for a few months and have gigged on it and all...for the low price and the selection of fx and amp models, you can't go wrong with teh spider II, i love it...the different types of distortion are very good, and you can replicate the tones of many diff bands with no need for other fx pedals etc...the only drawback i've had with it is that on the metal red channel, when the drive is higher, the amp starts to crackle a tiny bit...its nothing to worry about though

HardCore Audio

I went to a friends house last night, and was impressed to see he had a Line 6 amp. I've always heard good things about this amp, but when I plugged into it, the things I had heard didn't even do justice to the amazing sound this thing produces. It has screaming hot effects, the Crunch, blues, twang, Metal, Clean and Insane are all beautiful sounding as well as versitle. I will be honest when I say, I've been a Marshall guy for years and years. Not anymore. I love my marshall, but the distortion is so scratchy sounding. Makes for horrible recordings. My band mate has a Marshall AVT150 HX and even it isn't anywhere near as awesome sounding as the line 6. The Metal Setting has that crushing sound that guitar players world wide love, and those lows that seem to beat your chest in. I never cranked it up past 3/4 full volume, and I know I was drowning out a Yamaha drum set. The entire time I had the volume cranked up, It never lost any audio quality. As I walked away my left ear was ringing and deafend a bit, if that tells you about how loud it is. I am truly amazed by the incredible sounds this thing produces. So much so I ordered the 75w version just a few minutes ago. Hands down buy this amp if you're looking for a truly incredible sound.

Awesome power!!!

By XtremeDeth

This is the first ever head I've ever owned, but I'm convinced that this is going to keep my tone and playing needs well satisfied for a looooonnnng time!!!! It's great. I have it running thru a Blue Voodoo 4x12 cab and it's killer. You can jam from good old Stevie Ray and Eric Clapton to extreme Suffocation and Deeds Of Flesh!!! Perfect for all styles.

Line 6 Spider 2 head

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I would first like to start by saying that this is the best overall band for your buck when it comes to half stacks. It kills the competition. Marshall, Crate, etc. for this price nothing comes close. Here is what I don't like. When it comes to features, while there are a wide range of effects and possibilties, there are really only a few types of distortion and that you cannot adjust. Its just 8 or so distortions that you can add effects to. Nonetheless, these effects sound amazing. The reason I gave quality a nine is because when you turn up past 6 the clearity disappears and all you hear is loud buzzing. But then again its already loud so you dont need to go much higher. All in all, for a solid state at a great price, this is an unbeatable machine.

Don't get me wrong here, I love this head. It's versatility is practically unmatched in the digital market thus far, the options are great. But where it gains in ability, it loses in true tonal quality. The reason I say it is what it is, is because it wasnt made to be a true powerhouse. Line 6 manufactures this head for people who are looking for a low priced unit that can do it all and thats exactly what they've done. I've had this head for about 8months and I've outgrown it already. I'm ready to move up to something better, but the spider 2 has served me very well. It's survived extensive gigging and has done well with the power punk I deal to it with my gibson les paul special. For a nice entry level head it can't be beat and the price is nice too, but if you're a tone freak like i am, look elsewhere.

$400 Paperweight

By rosie684

from Hobart

I bought this thing and in about 4 months it burned up in the middle of a show. Just the other day my friends HD did as well. Smoke started comin out the back and something fried. I posted on the official LINE 6 Forum and other people are complaining about it as well. For the time that I had it, it worked and sounded awesome. Just make sure you get the best warranty you can get or you'll end up with a $400 paperweight.

It was a toss up between this Line 6 w/ cab or the Marshall MG half stack. I liked the features, sound, and reviews of the Line 6 better so I went with it. This amp is on it. Everyone was telling me go tube, but the problem with tube is they sound horrible at apartment living levels. This sounds awesome at all levels. Especially due to the split 75watt stereo out to stereo cab. I can play at the level of a smaller 2x12 combo if I want. The tones are killer and it sounds great through headphones too. My only problem is definitely a small one. The Guitar tuner is pretty off. It's extremely vague. I had to get a hand held tuner for my accoustic and when comparing the too devices tuning ability on my electric the Line 6 built in tuner was way off. However, a very small flaw for a such a great product. Way to go Line 6.

Great Head!!

By DJ Sewell

I've had this head for a few months now and i love it. The versatility of this head is amazing. The only thing that bothers me about this head is that you need the footswitch if you're playing gigs and stuff like that, and the foot switches are a lot of $. But it's definitely one of the best heads i've played on.

I had an marshall avt before this...this amp blows it away no feedback at all sooo loud...just line 6 needs to come out with a better pedal for it because the short board horrible and is a pain in the a$$. And the guitar imput was cheaply made...during a show my bassist steped on my chord and broke the imput but i got it fixed...overalll awsome amp for giging very loud!! and spyder 2 is cheaper and better then the spyder 3...buy this amp!!

i was searching for a half stack and after trying out every head out there i came across this one and its price, effects, and quality blew my mind this head does and has everything i need for my metalcore/hardcore band!!! the only thing i don't like is that the channel volume of the more clean sounds doesn't go as loud as the distorted sounds but dont't get me wrong this head is **** awesome buy it as soon as you can you shouldn't don't even question it!!!later....

It's alright

By James-fTrkn

from Ft. Collins CO

This amp is very versatile....but nothing compares to tube tone....especially if you are looking for a good metal/rock amp. The distortion sounds loose and that amp lacks midrange....has too much treble...even at 0, and has too much bass. It works fine for live shows...its REALLY loud...and all the effects sound good...but you dont have that much control over them. I am in the studio right now with my band...Tried the amp out...and it sounded not up to par. If you want a good live amp...go for it its cheap and good....get a floorboard though. But if you want a stuio amp..stick to tube...marshall mesa peavey etc

This amp head can adjust to any style you might be looking for. After reading the manual, it really isn't that hard to use. No effect pedals needed at all. Everything is built right in. From clean all the way to super distorted. Great product at a great price! This site did an excellent job handling the order as well. Both come highly recommended!
