OVERVIEW

An amp designed for students ready to plug in and play.

The CMD JB Players School combo, named after Jeff Berlin's great Music School, is a great choice for students.

Markbass knows how important it is for students to practice and play with a good professional sound, as well as to have a compact, light and portable combo. This combo is the smart choice to satisfy all of these requests. It's inexpensive, it features the same quality standard and the same quality control tests applied to all Markbass products by their technicians during production.

Jeff says, "The CMD JB Players School combo combines Markbass' usual great tone with a high quality amp cabinet that is affordable. I am only insterested in an amp if it has good tone built into it. This amp has it! I can practice with this amp and I can gig with it as well."

The CMD JB Players School combo has a highly-portable size, and it weighs only 34.61 lbs. Its sound is professional, and like all Markbass rigs, getting the right sound is as simple as setting the amp flat, plugging in, and turning up the volume. EQ only needs to be used when compensating for unusual venue acoustics. Both student and professional users deserve a great professional sound, and this combo is the choice!

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

I got this as a portable alternative to my other rig and although I've only used it 4 times at a regular smaller house gig, I am impressed with the tone shaping possibilities more so than the headroom or the rear port idea. Placement of this cab is critical. If you are in a confined space the rear port will bounce sound [air] off the wall and give you a seriously boomy, muffeled sound. Move it a few inches and the sound changes dramatically. It's impressively small and light weight, but you really need an amp stand of some sort unless your ears sit really low on your body. All that being said, this little guy gets very favorable comments from the people that count. The ones out front. It's a fact, bass players rarely have any idea how they sound unless they are told and this is no different. It's not real loud, but it is one of the few in this size range that allow an extension speaker without defeating the internal speaker. More speaker=more volume, plus it says you will pick up an additional 100 watts by adding another 8ohm spkr. I've read comments that claim this amp is very clean, but with my active Lakland bass I can get a nice growl at low volumes. I can only believe that running this [post eq] thru the mains would sound real sweet.

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

Been playing bass for around 16 years (mostly jazz and all types of christian music). Has an ampegish rumble on the low side and does not fart out on with the B string unless you got the gain up too much. I was very impressed with this little bad boy. Didn't know you could get so much sound out of so light an amp. I wish I had an upright bass to run it through because by the tone it has, I'm sure it would shine on an upright... Got it on Thursday, took it to a church gig Friday night as a backup and it ended up being the amp I used. The sound guys had a full stack Acoustic amp that farted out so Mark bass to the rescue! Venue was about 500 people (had PA support but sound guy had to have me turn down the amp so they can control the volume of the bass). Ran it along with a 4x10 cab on that acoustic stack and sounded great! I cannot speak on longevity of the amp as that I've only had it a few days (only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars). I'm still trying to find my perfect tone but I have a Tobias Classic 6 string bass with knobs upon knobs so it may be awhile. I initially had my doubts but if you're looking for a nice light compact amp on a budget that could be used for home practice and double as a small to medium gig amp, this is it. Just get it already, you will not be disappointed!

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

This amp has surprisingly great tone. I can walk it into a gig and set up in minutes. Small venues are filled with plenty of bottom and tone. I wish it had a tweeter for slap clarity though.

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

This is a great portable amp. It has a Mark Bass Little Mark 250 Black Line head (that can be removed with a hex wrench if you are so inclined) mounted in a compact 15" speaker cab. The cab in well built and feels solid. Plus, it's only about 34 pounds so it easy to move around. The head has a Speakon connector for a speaker out and a 1/4" speaker out (connected to the internal 15" speaker), an XLR style line out (with pre/post switch), effect send/return and tuner out. It also has separate gain and volume and a 4 band eq (low, two mids and high).

It can keep up with a drum kit at a rehearsal well. It makes a better portable amp for performance where you either mic the cab or use the line out through the PA and still have plenty of volume to feel it on stage as a monitor. I suppose you could get another small speaker cab, and run it out to use both the internal 15" and that cab. Either way it's versatile and loud.

It's more than just a loud practice amp, that's for sure. Plus, the price is right. Watch for % off sales/specials on MF because you can get this well under the normal (already good) price.
