The 1987XL head:
All the fabulous tube tone of the original 1987X from the 1966 to 1969 era plus a true bypass series FX loop. 3 ECC83 tubes in the preamp and 2 EL34s in the power section dish out that delicious, nasty overdrive behind Hendrix, Townshend, and scores of other greats. 3-band EQ and presence controls provide all the tweakage necessary to get the most out of this classic screamer. 50W. 26"W x 8"H x 10"D. 34 lbs.
The 1960TV cab:
This classic cab has an angled front; 4 - 12" Greenback speakers; and a warmer, thicker sound than the 1960A. The midrange is well-defined and a more rounded high-end sparkles without being overly bright. The 25W Greenbacks are less in your face than the 75W Celestions in the 1960A. It has reissue original grille cloth and is 3" taller than standard 4x12 cabs. Handles 100W. 29-3/5"W x 35-1/2"H x 14-4/5"D.

this is the head that all others imitate. seriously. now, just like guitars, i feel all amps are not made equally. some les pauls sing more than others. and some amps do too. it's hard to order stuff like that online and be assured you're getting your money's worth. so, if you can, go to a store and listen. however, not everyone has the luxury of having a large music store close by. if that's the case, i'm pretty sure i can assure you, if you order a 1987 head, you'll be happy. they are built like tanks. and are loud enough to tear your face off. seriously. when i first got it, i dimed the knobs, put my treble booster in front of it, plugged in my les paul, and played some communication breakdown. the cops were at my door in 15 minutes. my closest neighbor is about a mile away. when i feel the urge, i uncover this beast and play until the cops come. that's the type of head this is. and i love it.

I just bought this gem along with the Greenback 4 X 12 cab. I can't stop playing the thing to save my life. The tone is unbelievable whether it be that squawky Billy Gibbons tone, violin Dickey Betts Fillmore East-era tone, fat Brother Duane or Peter Green tone, Trower, Hendrix, Leslie West, Cream era Clapton, the list just goes on and on.... Forget those arsty fartsy boutique combos. I was trying to make up my mind between a Rivera Fandango, Bogner Shiva and Mesa Boogie until someone introduced me to this baby. When I played it, it was pure classic tone along with straight simplicity. I felt it right away. Further, a mean little tiger at 50 watts. I thought I was playing through a 100 watt head when I first crankied it. Honestly, I can't put the thing down and am running my VOS 59 LP Flametop through it. Can't wait to use it at our next gig.

The 1987x shows you that you dont need a bunch ofknobs and gadgets to get great tone. Teh volume knob on this amp makes all the difference. and by going back from 10 a few numbers you can get a very clean sound...by cranking it you get smooth Tone..and the best thing is the dynamics, the "attack" is awsume and unlike any other amp except may the 1959 100 watt but tehis one wont blow your head up.Very nice amp and the grenbacks speakers are the best vintage tone there is.

What can I say? It's almost pointless for me to say anything because this amp is it. I'm telling you, this is the real deal. There is absolutely no competition with this amp. I love this amp with a passion. Forget about Mesa and forget about other off-brands. Buy the best amp from the best music superstore ever. Go Hendrix!

MARSHALL natural overdrivesounds AMAZING, there is absolutely no other amp in this earth that will do classic rock better-add a powerbrake or hot plate to keep the volume at a managable level. This is the real thing, man, and it cant be beat. I plugged into a fender solid-state after playing this amp exclusively for about a month- i almost vommited. This amp ROCKS! Completely earth crushing tone and warmth. MARSHALL 4 EVER

This amp is the ultimate Marshall tone! Jim and the boys at Marshall definitely pegged the sound of an old Plexi or JMP. From AC/DC, Led Zeppelin to ZZ Top this amp gives you that great hard rock sound. With a Les Paul the Plexi Reissue and a 4x12 cab what more could you ask for.

If you play any Jimi Hendrix songs like "Voodoo Child" and you can't get the right sound and distortion from your amp then it's time to get an amp that will give you the right sound and this amp is it. With this amp you'll get the sound you need at a really nice price. So get it and keep on rockin' till you can't rock no more.
