OVERVIEW

50W of pure, all-tube Marshall sound at a never-before-seen price.

Marshall has always sought to provide outstanding tone to guitarists of every budget, and with the new MA Series, all-tube Marshall tone is now more affordable than ever. The MA50C 50W combo was carefully designed by Marshall's R&D team using the same basic principles as all Marshall amps—to deliver colorful, dynamic, unmistakable Marshall tube tone in a road-ready package.

Attractive Looks
The aesthetics of the MA50C head have been specially designed to create a look that stands apart from most other Marshall amps, while still retaining the essence of what people have become familiar with for over 45 years. Two orange LEDs illuminate the interior of the unit, highlighting the power tubes. This effect is visible through the fret cloth where the trusty white script logo is mounted onto a solid piece of transparent Perspex.

Tube Power And Tone Simply Executed
The MA50C is powered using the traditional Marshall mainstays of ECC83 double triode tubes in the preamp, and EL34 pentode tubes in the power amp. The layout and controls are kept simple, allowing you to explore unhindered the full potential of the all-tube tone within. The MA50C has separate EQ stages for both the Clean and Overdrive channels so you can optimally adjust each one without compromising the other. A 12" Eminence AX-75 speaker delivers all this great tone to awaiting ears. An extra benefit has been provided in the form of a tube-driven Boost function on the OD channel giving you, for example, a solo boost with more volume and gain. The amp also contains a spring reverb for use with all channels within the amp.

Intuitive And Practical
The MA50C combo was designed with the flexible control demanded by today's players in mind, but with a streamlined feature set to keep it cost effective. Whether in your own home or gigging, setting up the sounds and relative levels is very easy. The supplied footswitch assists live performance letting you toggle between settings like Clean to Overdrive, Clean to Boosted Overdrive, and Overdrive to Boosted Overdrive, ensuring maximum versatility.

Extras
Even though the MA range is designed as a no-frills, all-tube guitar amplifier, Marshall included a couple of extra features that allow for even more versatility. In addition to the all-tube preamp and power amp tone, MA amplifiers are equipped with an onboard spring reverb tank for an extra dimension to your sound. With the front-panel level control you can easily dial in how much you need for your own taste. All MA amplifiers are also equipped with a serial external effects loop for guitarists who want to add effects units into their sound. The nominal level of -10dBV is suited to stompboxes primarily, but not exclusively.

Why some guitar players complain about tube amps and the overdrive tones they get, man, I just don't get it. Usually, a player who needs a LOT of gain is making up for poor playing technique.

Stacking a high gain pedal into the overdrive channel of this amp is just the dumbest thing *ever*. The amp has the ability to give you a 'lead' tone that is louder than the regular crunch tone, you have to know how to use the blend control, and you set it up backwards.

Kick in the overdrive and the boost, set the gain and EQ and volume for your boosted lead tone. Turn OFF the boost, and use the blend control to 'pull back' the volume and gain (you turn DOWN the blend control) to your rhythm level. that's it, simple and it works.

I've used this amp for country (new country), classic rock, funk and motown and even some hair metal work. It has yet to disappoint me!
This amp is designed to be a simple, 2 channel all tube combo. It does that perfectly and more. The boost switch gives this amp a versatility not found at amps this price, let alone a tube amp.

If you are used to playing Line 6, Boss or other floorboard digital modeling effects, this amp will NOT sound right to you, because you've gotten used to what a fake guitar tone sounds like. This amp does NOT give you that super compressed high overdrive angry bees goop for a guitar tone.

If you want some depth to your sound, this amp is a great sized combo that gives you what a real tube amp can, depth and 'breath'.
It's built solidly, the side handles along with the top handle is a great thought.

Closed back, but ported. You have to take the back off to get to the tubes, but that's ok.

I would have prefered the footswitch had a detachable cable, but I'll live with it until it fails, then put a jack on the footswitch box.
Value is great. This amp compares to another two channel with boost that I've played, a Hughes and Kettner Duotone. That amp, new, is ver twice the price.
The tones between those two amps are totally different, but if you need a good, straight ahead rock amp, this will serve you very well.

You won't need a distortion stomp box, but adding a delay, chorus, wah or similar pedals will make this a really versatile tone machine. I'd consider an overdrive pedal too, run it on the clean channel so you have a 'different' overdrive tone.

    My first Marshall

Great amp poor craftsmanship. The spring reverb connection is very flimsy. I had to resolder the connection that was previously repaired wrong. Other then the reverb issue. I LOVE IT.

Picked this amp up as a backup and gave it a test run on my last gig. I had a ball and my bandmates were impressed. Sound was big and full. It's a keeper. Might swap the speaker and see improvments like others suggested.

Comments about Marshall MA Series MA50C 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Right out of the box this amp sounds amazing. I have 3 guitars, 2 electrics and an Electro-Acoustic. Jammed on it for an hour on each guitar. I must say I'm really impressed. The included footswitch is heavy, and could also double as a doorstop, some amps in this price range don't include one. Saves you a lot of time running back and forth to your amp, to select the clean or overdrive channel. Please spend time playing with your amp settings, and if you have a lot of guitars write them down so you don't have to go by ear every time. This amp is solidly built, wih good looks to boot, it's built so solid that it's heavy, and cumbersome to move. Locking casters would have been a nice option on this amp to make moving a breeze, The side handles are great by the way. You can't go wrong with this amp you get more than what you're paying for. You get a warm round sound

Bought a restock and it's fine

Comments about Marshall MA Series MA50C 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

      LoojhgkLoo
I've been wanting a Marshall tube amp for many years. When I learned about the MA50C, I was very interested. I watched Youtube videos and liked what I heard, so I decided that I would get one. Wanting to save money, and still get the amp, I decided to buy a restock. I was worried about what I would get considering the huge savings vs. a new unit.

I received the amp yesterday. There are a few nicks on the cabinet, the screws holding the chassis into the cabinet show signs they were removed, and the user manual is a little wrinkled. So, it looks like the unit was repaired, (screws removed) and probably returned by a previous customer. Musicians Friend states that these restock units may show the exact signs that I've described, so I'm not complaining.

All in all, the amp sounds great, it looks great, (it may have been used for a couple of weeks) and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I will update this post if there's any reason so everyone will be aware of what I've found. But so far, I'd say that the restock is a good deal.

      Good luck!

      Not a bad amp

Comments about Marshall MA Series MA50C 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp has straight forward features and a foot control pedal that come with it which is nice. But my fx loop doesn't work and the overdrive Chanel sounds like crap. I gave up on it and bought and OCD distortion pedal by fulltone. Now it is a great sounding amp. And the clean tones are great. It even sounds good when I plug my acoustic into it for band practice. I love the sound I get out of it. This is now my favorite amp I own. (I own many)

      AMAZING AMP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Marshall MA Series MA50C 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Even at low volumes it fails to disappoint me! It really has that true Marshall tone. It hasn't surpassed the JCM 800 or 900, but this is still one amazing amp for the value! Has great head room on the clean. I crank it up half way max and still is Very clean, the OD channel has nice bite to it and the Boost channel is AMAZING!!! Sounds GREAT through a Gibson SG. Definitely worth the buy! Screw those Fender, Peavey, and other amps, get this if it's in your price range!!!

      Money talks!

Comments about Marshall MA Series MA50C 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm an hobbyist, I play at home not too loud, in an apartment building. I love the Marshall sound but I can't justified to spend 1500$ on a Vintage/Modern or JVM. The price range I'm comfortable with is around 600$. I own a Fender Blues Jr. and a Vox AC15C1 so when I heard about the MA series I went for a test at the local guitar store. Affordable Marshall, yeah! Big good looking amp, good tube(EL34) Marshall sound so I asked the sale person: How much? 550$ CDN he said...I take it I said! I don't think they are very popular so the price went down I guess. At that price it's really worth it. The fact that it's made in vietnam or that the power switch has no light or that the cabinet is made of press wood doesn't affect the sound quality. To my ear it sounds very good and that's what count at the end. I'm not a purist(I can't afford it)I'm just a working class man and Marshall understood that and the MA series is perfect in that aspect. I like to buy new with a warranty. I'm not comfortable buying used tube amp from the 80's (JCM 800).I don't think they get better with time like wine ;)I understand that the heavy+mid+creamy Marshall crunch sound is not for everyone and some will find it limited but if that's what you are looking for don't look further. If you are not a professional($$$)musician but you still like good quality/sounding music instruments, the MA series is exactly for you. It's not a 1962 Bluesbreaker but it's not a Solid State MG series neither. It's a good Marshall tube amp at a price that we can afford.

Good entry level Marshall tone tube amp.

      By Gboutique

      from Montreal

Comments about Marshall MA Series MA50C 50W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp just will give 2 tones, a good clean British, and a Marshall overdrive/crunch, nothing between them, nothing on top. The construction is good and solid in its segment. The speaker Eminence AX-75 (Celestion G12T-75 clone) is ok .. The tubes are Chinese (re-labeled Marshall), decent sound .. It misses a lighted power switch and a gain selector in the effects loop. The good thing is that you can improve this amp with a good set of tubes, a better speaker (Celestion G12T or Vintage 30) and even can install an original illuminated power switch for original look..!!
