It delivers what the others promise.

The Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head delivers powerful sound and plenty of it. Though many amps claim to produce classic and modern tones, most fall short. The brutal yet toneful 350W hybrid output is just the beginning of the story. With its two-amps-in-one design that employs dual preamps, each with an ECC83 valve, you get totally independent amp configurations. It also completely reconfigures its power amp section depending on which amp type is selected. Both of the amp types have two footswitchable modes, with Amp 1 offering Clean and Crunch modes and Amp 2 delivering two distinct overdrives. Amp 1 is the classic side. When selected, it re-creates the unmistakable sound and feel of Marshall's 100W valve power roar. The Clean mode produces incredibly dynamic, 3-dimensional clean and bluesy crunch. Click into Crunch and unleash the unbridled aggression and bite of the JCM800 Series with levels of gain never conceived of in the '80s. Amp 2 takes over where Amp 1 leaves off with OD2 dishing up more sheer gain than any other Marshall ever while giving you maximum control in shaping your signature sound.

Features

  • 350W hybrid output
  • 2-amps-in-one design
  • Dual independent preamp stages with separate ECC83 valves
  • Both amp types have 2 footswitchable modes
  • Amp 1 offers Clean and Crunch modes
  • Amp 2 delivers 2 distinct overdrives

I've been playing now for 32 years. I've played a multitude of amps during that time. Evenutally any guitarist worth his salt will what I call "play all the notes" out of your current amp. I've never played an amp that had such extensive tone controls. It's positively the most user friendly amp in terms of control and use. Someone has sat down and really done their homework on this one. When I demoed this amp I had a Mesa Rectoverb, a Stilleto Duce, and the Mode Four in the room with me. I played the Rectoverb first into a Marshall 4 x 12 angle top. I wasn't impressed with the amout of reverb the amp had and it was tonally limited in my opinion. I then plugged into the Stilleto, and was even more disappointed. When I plugged into the Mode Four it was Nirvanna! Wow! The digital reverb is 200 fathoms deep and with the tone matrix control coupled with the resonance control gives it botton clear down to Austrailia! If you want an amp that will do it all, that somehow still manages the warmth of an all tube amp and has the power of a Top Fuel car then by all means buy this guy! You owe it to yourself to try this amp out. I took it home to see how it sounded in a different enviornment and I never took it back to the store. I just called the store and told them I'd be in with the check! Old Rocker

I played one of these in a music store and I was sorely dissapointed. I expected a beefed up hot rodded JCM 900 and got what sounded more like a glorified valvestate. It is advertised as a tube amp but only it's preamp section is tube. Its power section is all solid state and it sounds like it. Absolutely no note definition if anything more complex than a triad is played. Spend the extra couple hundred and get the JTM 45 reissue if your getting just the head. You can use pedals to get a metal tone if you want it. If your going for the whole stack spend the extra and get the Bluesbreaker combo. Much better. Hell spend a third of what you would spend here and get a Peavey 5150II or a XXX. Much better amps in my opinion. Get a mesa... anything but this pile o crap. When are they gonna start making the JTM series again. Those were tops.

This amp rocks

By Jamdelta5

from Surfside, TX

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

This is one of the most versatile amps I've ever owned. It seems marshall hit the nail on the head with this one.Mode 1: Great for any kind of funky type of Jimi kind of stuff. I use it on songs like Little Wing and Wind Cries Mary.Mode 2: I don't use this one very often but I do use it for punk type stuff and even nirvana type rhythms.Mode 3: Really great for Classic rock like Skynard, Deep purple, Stevie Ray.Mode 4: A really great shred tone without too much noise. Zakk, Slash, Eddie, Vai, Satch, I use this one a lot it sounds really great.Only thing I don't like about it is that this would be the perfect amp if every mode had a separate volume and gain knobs. That would be the greatest amp ever. If marshall made one I'd pay 2 or 3 times as much as I paid for this one. Other than that its a great amp. I use it at every gig and it sounds great.

Totally Sweet

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

I have owned my Mode Four head and MF 400 cab for over 2 years now and I am still very pleased with the purchase. It does take a while to dial this head in though. I use an Ibanez RG1570 with Seymour Duncan Invaders and an ESP Steven Carpenter 7 string with EMGs. Either of them will rip your face off. Highly recommended.

This amp is amazing.

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

When I got this head home and plugged it in, I was blown away with how much power this amp has. It really delivers where other solid state amps cant and it sounds great at higher volumes. The distortion is over the top and gives alot more spice than any other marshall amp I've ever played. This amp is a great buy for the price that you pay and it deffinately satisfies.

Very Flexable Amp

By Aerostar2005

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

I bought this Amp because I wanted a Marshall. I'm in a band that plays all kinds of music and this amo has every sound I need , from Shimmering Clean, to Super Metal Detuned Destruction. My Band Hates this thing because its so Loud, but they love the versatility of it. I had a Crate GFX212 that came close, but this one just rocks!!!!

w.o.w.

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

When this head first arrived at the music store, we plugged it into a Jackson RR5 and a Peavey XXL 4x12 cabinet, which is similar to what I usually play through. We turned this baby up to 2 and were noise complaints from the other end of the mall. The tone on this bad boy is absolutely astounding. whats great about it also is it has a mute button that can be used for tuning, and a solo button for just completely ripping. The 2 amp/4 channel design is simply genius. The 1st amp sounds just like a classic marshall head such as a jcm800. The 2nd amp takes distortion to a whole new level with amazing lowend and plenty of range for regular solos at insane volumes. This is without a doubt my favorite head and I will stick with marshall forever! God Bless Jim Marshall

Excellent!

By Zakk-39VDr

from Ashburn, VA

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

I bought this head about a month ago and love it. It DOES take some time tweaking it and, like all-tube amps, its sound at high-vol can be different than at bedroom level. But, once you get your sound dialed in (that is, your sound from FOUR different channels all with footswitch control, including Reverb and Solo) it is outstanding! MARSHALL says they copied the tone on Channel 1 from their JCM800 with this thing - and they don't lie. The thing is EXTREMELY light for such a large and powerful head. You'll see negative reviews from people who don't OWN it - they just tested it out for a few minutes...that usually won't do it with this thing, it just has too many variations and you can make anything sound crappy with a bad setting in a store. MARSHALL loves this amp, I love this amp, Mode4 owners love this amp (tell the 'all tube' snobs it all tubes and they wouldn't notice the difference (except that Channel 2/OD2 has more distortion and full-bodied tone than they'll ever get) - I don't care what they say.

Good Amp high price Tag

By LedHed

from Massachusetts

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

Listen if you have the money for this then by all means by this and its signature cabs (either one) but the reason for the low over all value is due to the very high price tag and extreme weight. Very heavy (why do u think guys who play stacks are always jacked) however that being said this is an extremely versatile amp because I play in a band based on all the greats (page,Vai,Malmsteen,Hendrix,Joe Walsh, eddie of course) so I need to go from sweet blues to screaming fingerboard burning and back. Like a jcm, jmp, and jtm maybe even a little fender (check out the deville).

WOW!!

By METALLGAIN666

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

I tried this thing out and instantly fell in love with it. The tone is so full. I sounded just like slayer with this thing. It cranks out, and shreds beautifully. You can really hear your notes. Anynoe who doesn't like it put it on a less tonal setting, because the low end and highs are perfect!

Comments about Marshall MF350 Mode Four 350W Head:

I baught this amp almost a year ago I think or however long it's been out. I must say I am please with it's kick in the balls attidute, however I find it limiting not to have an eq on it. never the less this amp is more than I could imagined. 350watts of pure volume. I can drown out my friends $4000 sound system with just a half stack. just try it and you'll understand.
