Well built reliable easy to use and very flexable as far as what it can do despite the fact that is has only two controls.... more knobs to twiddle with don't make things better.
This baby is totaly foot control-able if that is even a word.
I could go on and on about this pedal It's been around awhile I have a really old one and the only differance is the old ones didn't have a lite on them.
This is the best comp box there is and I think the fact that it has only two knobs is part of it .
this is a great box for getting that Nashville sound but that is not all it can do .By setting the threshhold low it can mimic the sound of a tube rectified amp because as a note beguins to die the box brings it back to life so to speak creating sustain. Tube rectifiers choke heavy signals but as the note dies it's voltage increases creating sustain I like to use the little rubber thing on the output control so I can control it with my foot it is great as a volume control. This pedal is not just for country players it will make any amp and guitar sound better ...great really it helps breath life into notes if you don't run the threshold to high it is a monster volume boost get one I have been playing a long time and unless you find an old lab series L-5 amp this is what you should have best tool you will ever own.R.N.H
I think it is a ten and I can't think of too many other boxes that you can really say that about I've had mine thirty years it's unreal I must have gone through dozens of amp's and guitars but I some how held on to this old stomp box heck if it had blew up after a year I probably would still got another one.
I Also had an mxr distortion plus that I lost in a fire and it was a great tool as well.
I thiink I paid about $40.00 in 1979 for one of these baby's and I still have it and it has more than paid for itself I hope they bury me with it. there are always critics out there that nitpic but most of those cats cant play anyway so they blame the gear this thing will make you sound better if you let it.

I like MXR effects often because of build quality and because of the stomp switch, which I find personally more reliable than the treadle-style switch found on most Boss effects (for example). This effect does add the sparkle, and it definitely compresses. However, it is quite modest used as a clean boost. With some guitars, it seems to boost a useful amount, but not with others. I would recommend shopping for one that could add more boost if that is what is needed. Otherwise, it's fine.

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:
I was in the market for a compressor and chose the M-102 Dyna Comp for it's simple 2 knob interface. It sounds good too and seems to be built well. I can't wait to pair it with a fuzz type pedal. It also sounds good with my Boss MD-2. I recommend the Dyna Comp for someone looking to get more sustain without adding a lot of noise.

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:
Came down to this Dyna Comp and the Keeley. Compared them next to each other and simply could not tell much, if any, difference. Musician's Friend sold me the Dyna Comp for about 1/4 the cost of the Keeley!! Nuff said!

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:
The description claims "infinitely clean sustain". I found it no longer or cleaner than that in my ME-70. Can't tell the difference. I prefer having all my effects in one box unless there's a significant reason to have an extra one. There isn't, so the M-102 goes back.

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:
I use this after all the dirt pedals in my rig. This isn't the "recommended" place for compression, but it has its advantages. I leave my overdrive (either a plimsoul or OCD depending on the song) on all the time & use the volume knob to control the amount of dirt I need while keeping a near uniform volume level - a cool trick which you can't do running the compressor 1st in the chain. That being said, like my OD's, it stays on almost all the time. It can get a little noisy at high volumes, but this is manageable w/ a noise suppressor. The pedal is fairly transparent, and not at all digital sounding. It keeps the same level of performance no matter what pedals I use with it. It is nice and percussive w/ the sensitivity turned up high - great for jazz & funk style comping, (Somewhere between Reelin in the Years & the clean rhythm section of Stanley Clark's School Days) and due to the medium-quick attack, I can approximate Trey Anastasio's lead tone quite admirably on a budget. At medium to lower sensitivity it blends in with your core tone and smooths out the peaks and valleys - providing a uniform smooth tone with little to no coloration. There are certainly better compressors out there, but for under $100 it doesn't get any better. You can argue for the inclusion of an "attack" control, which the MXR Suupercomp has, but I couldn't dial in a better level of attack on any compressor - the speed is perfect for me. If the Dynacomp was good enough for Lowell George, it's good enough for me
Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:
I got this last weekend, and it already is a crucial piece to my rig. I can get low-level feedback or just get clear articulations and notes with less fuzz. Works great infront of my solid-state amp. A must for any rig if you're trying to get quality and price.
Two controls. How loud you want it and how much sustain you want. Nothing to confuse you if your new to the pedal world.
Solid steel box. MXR and Dunlop make things that can take a beating. The only thing that is frustrating is that you can't really close the box if you use a 9v battery.
Not the cheapest comp pedal, but also not the most expensive. It gets the job done and saves you some cash for other toys.
Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:
This is my first, and last, compressor pedal. Not a lot of bells and whistles but it does everything I want, and more. The controls are easy to use and I can dial in just the right settings without a lot of fiddling around.
Excellent yet simple controls get just the right sound without a lot of experimentation. The pedal comes with rubber slevees for the knobs that make for easy adjustments with your foot when on the floor or in a pedalboard. Great feature.
I haven't had this long enough to test its long-term durability but these have been around for decades and they should have it right by now. It's all metal case, solid footswitch andgeneral build quality seem to be top notch.
I have had tremendous luck finding the things I wished for on the MF STotD. This was another value winner.
Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:
Used this model for 20 years or so. Don't have any reason to change.
This MXR Dyna-Comp is great. Long sustain with minimal noise. I love my Rickenbacker 12 string through it. It fattens it up nicely. Makes my Les paul sound great too.
MXR effects are great.Even though you have to replace the footswitch every couple years, or just buy a new one.
No better value in compressors for the money.
