Well built reliable easy to use and very flexable as far as what it can do despite the fact that is has only two controls.... more knobs to twiddle with don't make things better.
This baby is totaly foot control-able if that is even a word.
I could go on and on about this pedal It's been around awhile I have a really old one and the only differance is the old ones didn't have a lite on them.
This is the best comp box there is and I think the fact that it has only two knobs is part of it .
this is a great box for getting that Nashville sound but that is not all it can do .By setting the threshhold low it can mimic the sound of a tube rectified amp because as a note beguins to die the box brings it back to life so to speak creating sustain. Tube rectifiers choke heavy signals but as the note dies it's voltage increases creating sustain I like to use the little rubber thing on the output control so I can control it with my foot it is great as a volume control. This pedal is not just for country players it will make any amp and guitar sound better ...great really it helps breath life into notes if you don't run the threshold to high it is a monster volume boost get one I have been playing a long time and unless you find an old lab series L-5 amp this is what you should have best tool you will ever own.R.N.H
I think it is a ten and I can't think of too many other boxes that you can really say that about I've had mine thirty years it's unreal I must have gone through dozens of amp's and guitars but I some how held on to this old stomp box heck if it had blew up after a year I probably would still got another one.
I Also had an mxr distortion plus that I lost in a fire and it was a great tool as well.
I thiink I paid about $40.00 in 1979 for one of these baby's and I still have it and it has more than paid for itself I hope they bury me with it. there are always critics out there that nitpic but most of those cats cant play anyway so they blame the gear this thing will make you sound better if you let it.

I like MXR effects often because of build quality and because of the stomp switch, which I find personally more reliable than the treadle-style switch found on most Boss effects (for example). This effect does add the sparkle, and it definitely compresses. However, it is quite modest used as a clean boost. With some guitars, it seems to boost a useful amount, but not with others. I would recommend shopping for one that could add more boost if that is what is needed. Otherwise, it's fine.

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:

After trying out many compression pedals decided to try the DYNACOMP and was absolutely blown away. After getting it home, as even more impressed. After a little tweaking found the sweet spot and it stays on all the time.

A good compressor should add something to your tone without completely coloring it. This pedal does it after a little tweaking. The BOSS sounded the same regardless of where you set it-colored, supersquashed, etc. The MXR has half the dials, and twice the range. In fact, after using it, I don't notice it's there until I turn it off, then it sounds like there's something missing.

Try it, use it, and play around with it, you'll be sure to find a setting that ENHANCES your tone. I did!!!

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:

So I got this to pair up with my Strymon Bluesky ..and it did what I was hoping it would do. But for those buying this .. it actually has more than just one use .. Yes the Sustain is great .. It brings out a lot of the brightness without making it sound like your Pickups are On Fire .. This Pedal can also act as a very Very Loud Booster as well this thing adds a serious Punch with the Sens Cranked. but if you Put the Sens at about half and crank the Output .. 11 on the Marshall Turns into 17 ... But Make sure you have a suppresser because this thing is Technically an Overdrive .. and I got rid of all its hissing as soon as put it behind my NS 2 .. cleared right up

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:

Good pedal so far. Still tweaking a bit as to find the sweet spot for me. Can suck your tone if you let it or it can squash the sound, for sure Settings for me are 1 o'clock left knob, and 11 to 12 o'clock for the right knob. Really puts a smooth on the sound........

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:

Got the Dyna Comp a few days ago. So far good for me if used moderately. Some markers around the dials would pin it down to be more exact. Can squash tone if you drive it too much, for sure... Stereo in and out would be great.

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:

I received this as a gift for Christmas 2011. Worked fine and became an "always on" pedal for me. (various guitars, usually into a Deluxe Reverb) Two years, 2 months later, with about 225 hours of use, it died. No light, no signal when engaged. (Bypass does still pass the signal).
I like the sound well enough, so long as I don't push the sensitivity too high (which gets too noisy), but if this is the reliabilty, I'm not sure it's worth it, even at it's relatively low price. At this moment, for the above reason, I can't recommend this pedel.
Still researching, but I may replace it with a different brand.

Comments about MXR M-102 Dyna Comp Compressor Pedal:

I was in the market for something that would help tighten and clean up my tone. I have searched around for a reliable compression pedal and the MXR Dyna Comp kept coming up. Most reviews were good so I decided to give a try and I must say that it's become an essential to my setup now. I immediately heard the difference in my tone once I plugged up to it. It provided some nice clarity to chords as well as tighten the sound of my guitar while in distortion which is great for the leads. It features two knobs for control settings which are quite responsive and provide with enough room to experiment and find a tone that sounds good to you. It's also extremely durable. The battery on this after a full charge will last forever. I my only qualm is that I think it should of come with a power adapter. Also, the LED light I mine never works which makes it hard to tell if it's activated or not.
