The micro chorus is pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a chorus sound. I try to use effects sparingly and not many of them but I am very particular about the sort of sound I want when I do use them. In the past I've used a small clone, digitech multichorus and various TC Electronic chorus effects...none of which sounded as good as this pedal.
At first I was concerned that there is not a depth control on it but the sound of this pedal is huge so I actually don't feel like I need it. It might actually be a little too enveloping for some people. The speed range is very usable to me anywhere from 8 to 1 o'clock on the rate knob. I tend to stick with slower chorus for more of a doubling effect.
Another reason I like the pedal is that it is analog and true bypass. A reason I don't like the small clone is that it seemed to not have a lot of head room when using it through an effect loop, especially with distortion. Don't have that problem with the micro chorus.Doesn't squish the signal at all.
Overall if you're looking for something simple this is the best chorus I've ever used.
Not a lot to it which is a good thing. I was a little worried that there is not a depth control but after using the pedal it doesn't seem like I need one.
I own many MXR pedals and they are always build solid and reliable. I've never had an issue with any of them.
For the sounds I'm getting from this pedal I'd say the value is great.

Way too much noise to use for quiet chording/arpeggios. The stereo chorus is dead quiet. I was hoping for something similar in a small package but I was very disappointed. I only have 2 or 3 other pedals, and I have carefully chosen effects that are dead quiet. I put this back in the box after 5 minutes and sold it the next day.

This is a great simple product but will give a loud hiss with high gain, great for clean sounds though!

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Been tinkering with mine for about a month now. I have yet to find a setting on it that doesn't sound great. Integrates well with other effects and sounds amazing to give a clean tone a little shimmer or wobble. I was skeptical, I usually like more knobs to play with, but this hasn't disappointed me. You're getting a lot for your money.

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I just received this pedal and I'm using it through the effects loop of my Marshall DSL. This is the best sounding chorus I've ever used. At its minimum setting, it adds a little chorus to fatten up cleans or distortion (think Zakk Wylde etc). At the half way point, (give or take) its really lush and is great for cleans. Better than any digital chorus I've used. At around 3/4 of the way up, it starts to sound a lot like the beginning of Come As You Are. I was concerned that because it only had one knob, I wouldn't have enough control over the sound, but somehow the guys at MXR have figured out how to make it work. I actually like the fact that I can get every sound I want from one control now. The only drawback with this pedal is that it's a little noisy when engaged. I'm not sure why but it's not a deal killer. I give an 8 overall only because its a little noisy but again, still highly recommended.
      One knob
      Built like a tank
I give it a 9 based on the amazing tone and the simplicity

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Wanted a chorus effect to fatten up my sound a bit. This one is perfect, one knob to rule them all! Doesn't get much easier than this AND it sounds fantastic!

Running in effects loop of 1994 Fender Blues Deluxe and I can't get enough of playing arpeggiated chords with my G&L Asat or Strat. I'm sure the house is sick of it but it just sounds SO good.

Seriously easy to use and don't have to spend all night getting the perfect sound.

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you are looking for a great sounding, quality built, true bypass, chorus pedal with a no frills operation this is it.
I give this pedal an 8 with features because it only has a rate adjustment but I like simple effects and this by no means dimenishes the pedals overall value. If you like to have dozens of setting options this pedal isn't for you.
Built like a tank and sounds great (clean) ... and true bypass switching!
Absolutely great value. Thier has been times over the years that I have questioned purchases of amps and effects, thinking "was this worth it?" This is not one of those times. If this pedal had other brands stamped on it could sell for quite a bit more. Great job MXR-Dunlop

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I strongly urge my fellow guitarist to buy this unit, as it is as simple as simple gets. And the sound is a perfect classic chorus, and is true by-pass. This pedal needs to be run in the effects loop, if possible. Some pedals sound better out front, but this one blends perfectly in the loop. I am using a 91'Gibson Les Paul Classic through a Marshall 100W Vintage Modern with a Marshall 4X12 Vintage 30's cab. Trust and believe in the positive feedbacks, and know that most negatives are amateurs, or beginners. Great product and great value for the professional club player.

Exactly what I was looking for!

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the definitive cliche' chorus. It sounds exactly like a chorus should sound. It's simple to the point all business. If you want real chorus sound and play in mono and just want a simple set and forget plug and play setup, this is it. I had an Analogman Clone Chorus with the depth switch that cost more than three times what the MXR does and I sold it to buy the Micro Chorus. I wanted a chorus you could really hear when it was on. The Analogman chorus was too subtle. Buy one! Merry Christmas to me!

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Im rating this on the value of what you get for the money. It is a nice analog pedal with warm tone. Easy to use and easy to get a classic sound of years gone by. Yes the stereo chorus is most likely better but with a higher price and more difficulty to use. If your on a budget, this is a great pedal. No complaints. MXR makes some nice stuff.

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

My original Ibanez chorus (the purple one) FINALLY died. I used it when I bought it in the spring of 1983 until recently. I tried a cheaper, plastic pedal. It was OK but a bit transistor-y. No warmth. I own an MXR smart gate, so the micro-chorus seemed like the best bet. Plus, I read the reviews and I figured I could use it. Simple set up! I had my old reliable sound within 5 minutes! Sorry, but I don't go for digital chorus, distortion or digital bells. THIS is pure analog chorus and it's simple to set and go. Can't wait to use it on a gig!!
Simple!! Power up, plug in input, plug in output, kick the switch, dial in the rate. BLAM!! Analog chorus, rich and syrupy!
True bypass switch, (why don't ALL the others have this!!??!!) sturdy metal case AND fits great on a pedalboard. Did I mention quality analog chorusing?
Oh yeah! It may not have all them knobs ya gotta tweak and turn and such, but I'd rather play than spend my practice/playing time turning knobs. This one has one knob, set it and forget it.
