I've always avoided chorus pedals because I thought they only did the overblown, 80s sound. That was my own bias/ignorance. Saw a few YouTube clips of chorus pedals adding definition and "shimmer" and thought I would try some out.

The MXR M234 is great for anything from a touch of sparkle to full-blown, cheesy saturated chorus. I mainly use it for the subtle stuff, and the analog components give it warmth. At some settings, it offers very nice definition to fingerpicking or soloing. The "Level" knob is central to the versatility of this pedal. "Level" allows it to be subtle or saturated and points in-between. The "High" and "Low" cut knobs also offer great sonic flexibility and insures that the sounds don't have to be shrill or too shimmery (unless you want that, which it can do).

The stereo version would be the only improvement I could imagine for this pedal (maybe an expression pedal input too). That said, there are two outputs, which can offer other options. One output has the "wet" effected signal and the other output is dry. I have experimented with a more saturated wet signal (with level at 3/4) and a dry signal going to other effects (wah and fuzz) and then the second amplifier. Lots of room to experiment.

Ok, this pedal really has an amazing, warmth sound an had five konobs for lots of tweaks, but it has a issue that kills this pedal, the buffer bypass sucks!!! i can notice difference when is in my signal chain, it overcompress and in some kind suck the distortion of all my OD pedals, it´s like it clean up the signal, it's hard to explain, but if you use it in acoustic/clean rigs this will be an mamzing tool. if MXR sweep off the stereo function and makes it true bypass this pedal be one of the most successful chorus on the market.

My new favorite pedal

By Mike Bochenek

from Baltimore, Md

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I highly recommend this pedal.
This pedal is exactly the chorus I've been looking for. You can easily dial in anything from a subtle shimmer a swarming seasick. The two eq knobs, one for high and one for low, give plenty of room for you to find your own sound. The analog chorus is rich, lush, and definitely not digital. If I had to play a show with only one pedal, this would be the one.
The housing is plenty tough, the led is very bright, and the stereo output offers ore options for set up on the stage and in the studio.
It's a great price for a great pedal.

Awesome pedal

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Got one of these a week ago at a local shop (a week before anywhere had them online). First off let me start off by stating the fact that this IS the exact same pedal as the black label chorus in a new blue housing. That being said this pedal sounds awesome and is a great value, I already had a micro chorus and with this I can get every bit of the same range of chorus and then a tone more. Honestly, in my opinion best chorus pedal under for this price

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

MXR is built like a tank. Dial it up, and you can get really lush chorus sounds; back it off a bit, and get that thick sparkly sound that cuts through a crowded mix...

Inexpensive, quiet operation, easy to dial in GREAT Chorus sounds. Replaced a very old chorus pedal that had crashed. The MXR is MUCH BETTER!

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've got a box full of stomp boxes that I don't use because they are either noisy or they change the eq so much that they're unusable. This one probably messes with the eq a bit also, but in a good way, for me, and the chorus is able to be made very discreet which pleases me. One of the 2 or 3 boxes that I actually use.

Great sound-solid build. Is this the craziest chorus? No. What it is is everything you would want in a perfectly balanced chorus sound- a bubbly, jangly tone with lots of control.

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is beautiful, both in sound and appearance. I use a Les Paul Studio into a Vox AC30 and this pedal can do a lot. You can get some crazy 80's sounds with it, or just some subtle flange like sounds to color the notes. Over all, wonderful piece of gear.

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've never been a big fan of reverb, so I've always used just a bit of chorus just to fill out my sound. I just built a new pedal board so I figured why not put a few new pedals on it? Lol. So I searched and shopped and googled and youtubed for days on end and this one kept coming out on top. I'm glad I ordered it. You can get some killer effects out of this pedal. From subtle to down right dizzy crazy. MXR has done it again in my opinion.
