I've always avoided chorus pedals because I thought they only did the overblown, 80s sound. That was my own bias/ignorance. Saw a few YouTube clips of chorus pedals adding definition and "shimmer" and thought I would try some out.

The MXR M234 is great for anything from a touch of sparkle to full-blown, cheesy saturated chorus. I mainly use it for the subtle stuff, and the analog components give it warmth. At some settings, it offers very nice definition to fingerpicking or soloing. The "Level" knob is central to the versatility of this pedal. "Level" allows it to be subtle or saturated and points in-between. The "High" and "Low" cut knobs also offer great sonic flexibility and insures that the sounds don't have to be shrill or too shimmery (unless you want that, which it can do).

The stereo version would be the only improvement I could imagine for this pedal (maybe an expression pedal input too). That said, there are two outputs, which can offer other options. One output has the "wet" effected signal and the other output is dry. I have experimented with a more saturated wet signal (with level at 3/4) and a dry signal going to other effects (wah and fuzz) and then the second amplifier. Lots of room to experiment.

Ok, this pedal really has an amazing, warmth sound an had five konobs for lots of tweaks, but it has a issue that kills this pedal, the buffer bypass sucks!!! i can notice difference when is in my signal chain, it overcompress and in some kind suck the distortion of all my OD pedals, it´s like it clean up the signal, it's hard to explain, but if you use it in acoustic/clean rigs this will be an mamzing tool. if MXR sweep off the stereo function and makes it true bypass this pedal be one of the most successful chorus on the market.

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I play in a tribute band and play over 25 gigs a year. This is my third MXR pedal and am always impressed by the quality and sound. I have been using a Boss analog pedal for about 10 years, but although its a good pedal, the MXR Analog Chorus has more "sparkle" in the tone.

Best Chorus i've used. Buffered bypass since it has 2 outputs. It also improves your tone when bypass. High cut and Low cut controls. Great chorus sound! No problems with the pedal

I replaced my Voodoo Lab Analog which was giving me trouble. I tried them all at a local store and this was the best by far. The sound quality, total lack of any hiss or volume jump really impressed me. The high/low rolloff knobs also prove helpful. This is a great pedal

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

This effect pedal has a lovely warmth to its sound. Lots of controls to dial it in to where you like it however, if you're looking for full on chorused effect that's in your face and uber glossy, this isn't the pedal for you. This chorus is more organic in its contribution to your sound rather than taking it over. You can dial in how much low and high end you want too which makes it super versatile. All in all a great analog chorus at a very reasonable price.

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Been playing guitar for 47 years. Was never a pedal geek. I only started using an array of pedals about eight years ago. I had an Arion chorus pedal since the 1980s. That broke and I replaced it with a Rogue chorus until I found another Arion. Playing out on a regular basis took it's toll( the foot switch was going) so I wanted a good chorus that would hold up without breaking the bank. I looked at the MXR analog chorus as I have other MXR pedals: the noise gate, 10 band guitar EQ and the analog delay. Based on the reviews, I decided to try the MXR analog chorus. I've gigged with it three times and am very happy with it. I really like the tone controls where I can adjust both the lows and highs. I have it third in my chain after my compressor and tremolo and with the compressor on all the time, I've had no issues. I get a rich, lush sound. I've only used it with my my Tele and Strat through my Carvin Nomad tube amp. Haven't used it through my Marshall tube combo amp but expect same results as both amps are similar. I only use the pedal on certain songs for coloration. Overall am very happy with the purchase.

Comments about MXR M234 Analog Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was in a situation where I was up against it.
I had to ditch a do it all digital pedal from my board.
This meant I had to add some individual stomps, including a chorus pedal. I started searching the web, and of course the big "B" brand came up. The reviews on their chorus ensemble were all good, and it was in my price range. I headed down to my local G-C (at 8:45pm). I went right to the pedal cabinet and they did have the CE-5 in stock, but then I spotted the MXR in the case, too. I asked the gal if I could try 'em both out. She set me up with a guitar & I dug in. The "B" was cool, and lived up to it's rep. It nailed the '80's chorus, but was a bit...hmmm... not sure. But don't get me wrong, it was good.
Then I plugged in the MXR. My first impression was "Squonk" from the Genesis "Seconds Out" live album. It was really warm and smooth. But I wasn't sure if it was going to have the clarity wanted.

After switching between the two for 10 minutes, I took them both to the counter. Eenie meenie miney mo! I chose the MXR!

When I got home, I plugged it in, and yesss indeedy! This is the one!

So glad I bought this instead of the "B".

Excellent sound - warm & versatile, and very quiet! No hiss.

Another great addition by MXR.... Love it!!!
