OVERVIEW

(Open Box) Loads of midrange, perfect for '80s rock and metal.

The gain structure and tone character of the 6262-212 is built on the same fundamentals as the 6260, but has more midrange, making it perfect for '80s rock and metal. You also get full control of EQ, Presence and Reverb on both channels.

A lot of amp manufacturers call their Treble/Mid/Bass knobs tone controls, but Bugera calls theirs EQ because they spent a lot of time making sure that they each have a unique character. Treble really screams; Mid puts you about six rows into the audience; Low can add more growl than an angry Kodiak bear.

The Presence control is tailored to smooth out your tone or add enough bite to cut through any cymbal. It can bring new life to darker sounding instruments.

Like several other Bugera models, 6262-212 has a modern studio digital reverb to avoid unwanted rumble from vintage springs when you're on a heavily vibrating stage. Bugera auditioned literally hundreds of 24-bit reverb patches and finally settled on a favorite that they thought would be perfect for both lead and rhythm playing. The result is way more versatile and usable.

This model does not feature Infinium technology.

So I bought my first Bugera tube amplifier back in March and experienced failure of the output tubes (not the amplifier, the tubes). Since I know a bit about tube amplifiers (having owned a 5150 and two Fender The Twin amps many years ago) I did not panic.

Instead I replaced the output tubes and re-biased them using homemade bias probes made from octal power tube socket savers, 1 ohm metal film resistors and some volt meters they give me free each time I buy tools at a certain place.

Note that the output tube failure is entirely the tube and not the amplifier. I am assuming it is from impact or vibration during shipping causing internal tube damage such as broken grid wires. Google "6550 instead of EL34 distributors request" - interesting since this is not a new kind of problem.

At these prices they are an absolute steal and what you need is to get a quality set of output tubes and have them replaced. If you don't expect the output tube failure that many of the reviews point out. Since I had parts and experience it took me about 20 minutes to take the back off, replace the tubes, replace the fuse and start warming up/burning in the new tubes and start setting the bias current.

If you look online there are many sound clips and if you find the good ones and listen to them then you will know they are very capable for tone.

For output tubes you might want to consider the matched quads from Ruby (EL34 or 6L6 depending on your preferences).

I think the Bugera (likely from Sino factory) preamp tubes are quite acceptable for factory tubes but I like to buy Sovtek LPS, Mullard, EH and other (Svetlana, Ruby AC5, Tung Sol) 12AX7 variants for tone. Until you have experience stick with just changing the first two pre tubes since many nice sounding 12AX7 tubes can not be used in cathode follower and other positions where the heater to cathode breakdown voltage will be exceeded for the particular low noise design/construction of many of the nice tone tubes made in Russia.

Purchased this as it seemed like a real bargain for a 120W all tube combo. It was advertised as an open box in mint condition (level 1). When it arrived, the box was really beaten up and it seemed that the unit was very old inventory (date code of 2009). Unpacked the unit only to find that the footswitch was the wrong version and could not be plugged into the amp due to different sized jacks. Apparently at some point the design was revised and this unit was supplied with the wrong version. Plugged the amp in but it was absdolutely dead. Standby power light would not come on. Checked fuses but all OK - decided not to invest any more time in it and sent it back for refund.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Well, I had a bad experience with the Bugera V22. Went through TWO of those. Since the price on the 6260 seemed a good risk, it quit working in about 20 minutes of play. Returned for a refund. Learned my lesson with these amps. I have used Fender for 30 years and never a problem Guess I should not have experimented.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

If you're wondering if the price is to good to be true you are right. I purchased two of these amps at the same time. I opened the first one and it fizzled and blew within the first 5 minutes. The other one seemed to work but I didn't play it again until a few weeks later and within 10 seconds of turning it on it fizzled and blew. Musician's Friend was nice about letting me return them. Looks like American and British amps are still the way to go.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is an incredible bargain. I had no trouble with mine right out of the box, which was indeed, the hard part as the only drawback might be that it's heavy, but that tells me it is built solid, like in the good ol' days. Besides, I just use it in the studio at home.

I can dial in pretty much any sound I want to get from this thing. Blues, jazz, rock, country, rockabilly...it's all in there once you figure it out.

I see some people have had problems with them, but I can tell you from experience - mine and friends - the 'F' brand has it's share of problems too (think tube biasing). Doesn't matter too much to me anyway though, as I learned tubes in tech school in the '70s (yeah, I'm old).

Serious though, if you've considered building your own tube amp, don't until you try out one of these. Much easier platform to start with and you can buy 10 of these with what it would cost you to build your own.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a near-exact copy of the famed Peavey 6505+ and as such it can be expected to perform similarly. As the 6505+ is in itself a slightly more refined 6505 (previously 5150) there are of course certain expectations to be met.

This amp will meet them. The clean/crunch channel has got a perfectly usable clean channel that would not be entirely out of place in a blues or jazz house, although the amp visuals might raise a few eyebrows. It also provides a VERY good crunch channel, suitable for anything from classic rock to early metal. In typical 6505 style, the lead channel has more gain than you'll ever need, and provides it in a reasonably tight, solid fashion. (To perfect it, any tubescreamer clone with gain on 0 or 1, level on max will do the job.)

My amp arrived with 2 bad power tubes, but MF customer service got me sorted out with no hassle and no problem so I've no complaints there.

At the price point these amps are selling for, it's very hard to justify spending more for essentially the same product in a different package.

        Highly recommended.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I am oddly enough a fan of Bugera products, knowing that they tend to have a lot of issues but with minor work, you can get some pretty amazing performance out of them for a small price. With that said, I purchased one of these on tax day 2015 and received it later that week. I took it home and plugged it in and was disappointed with the sound initially, until I pulled the back off, removed all the tubes and reseated them. Once I did that, this amp rocked.

I run a Zoom G9 into this as my effects processor and the amp/speakers handle it like a pro. I get no buzzing whatsoever, just very solid sound reproduction. My band plays a mix of songs from the 60s to today and it doesn't matter if I am playing Beatles or Rage Against The Machine, it handles them all well.

The power output of the amp is 120 watts and it gets real loud real quick, easily outperforming my Fender Mustang 3 (hundred watt amp) for sheer volume. The fact that I can put additional speakers under this bad boy is huge and I am sure it will be used.

I do wish I had the Infinium model but this seems to do just fine. There are no real bells and whistles to this besides a foot pedal, clean and lead channels but with the right effects board and a decent guitar, this beast rocks.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was hesitant about buying this after reading some reviews. I purchased the 3 year MF warranty. So far so good. I've had it a month.
I have a EVH 5153 and this is not as good, but it has a distinct flavor and tweaking the knobs gets very interesting results. It is a very sparkly amp. It's not dark. So, if you have a darker sounding guitar, this may be a great match of an amp. I loved my Les Paul through it better than a Marshall TSL60. Hopefully it lasts longer than the 3 year MF warranty.

I must be lucky because I haven't had any issues yet after daily use for a couple of weeks. After reading the reviews I figured it was a gamble, but in my case I won. This amp sounds sounds very good! I was planning for changing out the speakers but after testing against my v30 cabs it's not needed. You can get them sounding very close to a vintage 30 just by turning up the presence knob. I have several Mesa boogie and Ampeg tube amps. This amp is by far the easiest to dial in a good tone. I've also used my Kemper into the return of the effects loop and it sounds better then running into my Mesa poweramp. When I change preamp profiles on the Kemper I hear a much bigger difference then thrugh the Mesa Strategy 500. I bought the extended warranty for two years based on the other reviews.

You're not buying an amp, you're buying a project. If you can accept that, it's fine. If not, find something else.

The first one I got went dead in under an hour's play. Had the time, so sent it back for a replacement, and the "new" one works fine so far. For the record, I have not discarded the packaging.

I did some research, forwarded that to my amp tech, and it seems everything is pretty solvable. Where I bought it, you have plenty of "tech cash" before you're at the safer DSL-40C or Hot Rod III.

The components are derided on line, and it's my first tube amp, but it sounds fine to me. I am prepared for some maintenance work, but until it comes up, I can't complain.

Five stars, -1 had to return it, -1 kinda waiting for it to break. Would not recommend to most friends, would recommend highly to a small percentage.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Bought the Bugera 6262-212 because of the great sale price. Bought it as "NEW". The box was in excellent condition when it arrived, but when I removed the amp from the box I immediately noticed a tear in the tolex at the bottom front edge. Had to epoxy it together. On the right front edge was a deep cut in the tolex. Not much of a way to repair that. It obviously appeared to be a returned item that was sold as new. When I buy something new, I expect it to be in new condition! The date code is 1-5-01. I'm hoping that's not the correct date of manufacture. If it is, it doesn't have any of the newer upgrades or modifications since that date!! Surely that wouldn't be the case - or would it??
With all of that out of the way, this thing sounds great. Plenty of volume to blow the wall from my studio. Tone is excellent and the lead channel is awesome. I have another Bugera amp and have had no problems with it at all. That's why I bought another one as a back-up. Can't beat the sound.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I took advantage of the great pricing on an open box unit. The amp worked great, but the footswitch would change different channels. I sent it back for a new open box unit. All was well at first, played for about ten minutes then the volume dropped out. I just returned it for a refund vs trying another one.

Its a shame because the amp sounds pretty good

Went through 2 units of these. Both amps died after couple of hours of playing. Sound is nice but it is useless if the amp dies in few hour of use. Get better parts people!

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

The issue was when I first turned it on. The manual states to flip the "on" switch and wait 60 seconds before flipping it off of standby. As soon as it was off standby, there was a low hum and a slight random crackle that built up over the course of a minute. The front blue LED indicator light also started glowing a bit brighter during that time, until: *pfft*. The fuse popped and went out. I had to buy a replacement fuse at Radio Shack. That one blew as well. I can see that the third power tube is red-plating as soon as the amp is off standby.

This is the original model that was plagued with issues. The manufacturing date on my model is January of 2001?! The three biggest concerns were that the solder points were weak, the capacitors fell of the board, and the molex connector would melt inside the amp. I can't check for these without possibly voiding the warranty. Perhaps the 6L6 tubes are bad.

Comments about Bugera 6262-212 120W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this Bugera 6262 combo on sale and have to say that for the sale price, this amp is BY FAR the very best deal I've ever gotten on any piece of music equipment. The tone is SO awesome , especially after it gets warmed up real good . The amount of gain this amp has is unbelievable (6 pre-amp tubes) and it is VERY loud . I'm not sure how loud it will go because I've never had the volume past 2 because it drowns out the rest of my band . I love the clean channel and the digital reverb is really nice too . The EQ is great , the mid knob gives you tons of tone shaping and I especially like having the presence knob to further allow for more tone shaping .. Bottom line ....for the price, this amp was a steal.. It rocks. ! .. I love it !!

Great amp for the money. mine came complete, no defects. It is dated 2011.it is completely new. Clean channel is fantastic. Lead channel - if you turn the gain past 2 you'll blow an eardrum. I have read other reviews and can say that I have not had some of the issues I have read about- so far. Have not used the foot switch yet, but only because I use a peddle board.
