There just aren't a lot of good keyboard amps out there anymore - you can roll the dice on a Behringer, spend a ton on a Traynor or Yorkville, or go with the old standby, your old friend, the one that never left you stranded on a gig. Peavey.
I had inherited a KB 2 and used it as a small practice amp. I got several positive comments on the sound quality. When it came time to get a new amp for my club/medium large venue gig, I bought a KB4.
The pictures do not do this thing justice in regards to its size. It's very large. They should put something comparable in size next to it in the picture for comparison.. something like a Buick. I would not want anything larger than this amp, and I'm begining to look at the KB 3 with a jealous eye.
On the up side, this is all the amp you'll ever need on a gig, and with the XLR outputs, you can send a signal to the mains and keep the stage volume down!
I know Peavey isn't as glamorous as some of the other brands out there, but they've been around forever, and this amp is way better constructed than most other amps I've found. Screws/bolts are into real anchor nuts, not particle board. Quality drivers, and the amp module is easy to remove should you need to clean the pots (they can get scratchy).
Great amp, but plan for its size.

Well, I should say I'm not using this amp for keyboards. As it has a full range speaker, I use it to amp my acoustic guitar and bass. Unfortuately, it emphasises a few annoying frequencies and is hard to tame. I've had to program the crap out of my EQ on my outboard FX unit to get it to sound half decent. Also ran into a very annoying feature... if you want to run two separate instruments out of the balanced L/R outs (i.e. one inst on R, the other on L), then you'll need some dummy plugs in the other jack on the channel, otherwise the unit will broadcast on both L/R! Really irritating, and the circuit diagram does not show this!anyway, I'm selling mine... really don't like the sound, and if you don't have two people, forget about moving this thing up and down stairs (unless you're Atlas!)cheers.

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

I use it on small-venue gigs to amp my Triton. If I'm needed to play bass on a gig, it doubles VERY well as a bass amp. The multiple channels are a nice feature, but more importantly, this thing sounds great over the full range of both instruments I use it for. It's built solidly, and weighs accordingly. The built-in road handle is nice but watch that you don't scrape the bottom of the amp when you hit a rock, curb, etc.

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

Only complaint: Its pretty heavy. I can move it alone alright though.
I really like this amp. I run my Roland Juno DI, all my software synths, and even guitar, bass and mics sometimes, and this thing is great. Can always hear it over my guitar player's 100 watt Marshall half stack. And doesnt distort. Overall very good amp, especially for the price... 10x better than my old Roland.

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

I bought this amp to replace another one, and MAN! was I blown away by the versatility and power of this little guy. I run an electric 12 string and a bass through this powerhouse.(at the same time). My bass player can't believe that this amp can handle both of us. It does, with more power to spare. GET ONE!!!

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

I bought this amp less than a year ago. I use it at church every sunday. The first thing I noticed is that there is a humm that you can't get rid of. I have changed cords used a ground lift adapter, but nothing worked. The amp now has a blown tweeter and distorts badly. I am very unhappy with this amp and the quality that is in it.

KB-4 For Drum Amp

By DonohoKid

from On the Road, US

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

My old man originally bought this KB-4 amp to use as a portable pa at church (and also for small 1-man-shows); mostly using if for a guitar amp and for vocals. It handled that with no problems. Once he stopped performing, he handed it down to me.It's now used as an onstage drum amp. Triggering acoustic drums with my Roland TD-10 (expanded); it sounds unbeleivably great. I can eq the kick to punch at good volumes while keeping the snare crisp. Everything in between (toms) come through just as well.Outdoors (grandstand/pavilions) it has a hard time keeping up... The kick will clip the limmiter on it when turned "way-up". But anything smaller (or more confined), it has more then enough power.

I use to own 2 of the original Peavey KB300 amps, which had 3 band EQ & compression dampening but also weighed 80 LBs. The first 2 channels only have 2 Band EQ,It does have a nice handle & 2 wheels for rolling around but is tough to lift.

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

I purchased the amp as a scratch and dent but honestly I barely found any scratches or dents . It basically looked new and only cost me under 300 greenbacks. I use the KB4 to run a NUMA organ and a Yamaha keyboard. Neither of them can be turned up too high volume without causing speaker to crackle. At 75 watts it's more than enough volume to provide stage sound, but I still have to plug into the board to get enough volume to cover a medium - large room. Having said all of that, I would still recommend it.

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

I purchased mine several years ago, and it has been great. At first, I had to tweak to get the highs, but I finally got it dialed in, and it rocks. I play a Korg BX3, and this little amp will SCREAM -- and at high volumes, it's crystal clear. I did buy a BBE Sonic Maximizer, and it opened up both the BX3 and the KB4 to new levels. I go directly out of the keyboard to the BBE, then to the amp. On occasion, I run a Peavey 115M (20 years old) as a second speaker giving a stereo split, and the horn on the 115M will really drive the highs. With this setup (stereo) when I kick on the Leslies in the BX3, the room spins like running true stereo rotor speakers. I will ultimately have two KB4s for my rig, and that will be a great setup. I have been a Peavey customer since the early 70's, and it's great to see a company who still has great quality control and cares about taking care of their customers. Hope this helps someone buy a great speaker!

Comments about Peavey KB 4 75W 1x15 3-Channel Keyboard Amplifier:

The built-in dolly is needed to get this hoss around. I first considered the KB-5 but couldn't justify it for our size gigs. The KB-4 is great in the clubs for my Yamaha keyboard but even better at home. I've hooked a mic, guitar & and midi keyboard all at once for practice and it doesn't look so big anymore compared to a PA & 2 amps previously needed...but it still has a big sound! I like the XLRs out for ease of connecting to board. Effects would be nice but loop is provided to use your own. I've used it for 2 months now & would buy it again.
