Own it Use it. I've used for basement & garage band practice & Jamming. Keeps up with much higher wattage amps. Very loud for 20 watts, Squeal knob great for OD or Distortion sounds @ any volume level. This thing runs for months on a charge. I play it 1/2 hour 4 X a week & the charge seems to last forever. Recharge overnight & your up and running. Light weight very portable no need to bring AC adapter to gig long lasting rechargable batteries included. No AAA,AA,C,D batterys to buy all built in. Sounds from super clean To full on Overdrive Destortion with the "Squeal" knob. Save your back for paying shows. A chorus pedel would be nice between guitar & amp for clean sound. Play dirty skip the Chorus pedel. Also, has tone knob takes your sound form Thick HUMBUCKER SoUND to brittle single coil sound. CRANK UP THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY ON THE AMP & USE THE GUITARS VOLUME & TONE KNOBS FOR MORE FLEXABILITY. 9 OVERALL SCORE FOR LACK OF FX. Have owned for at least 5 years, still like new condition. I take care of my stuff. Only concern is how long will the rechargable batterys last. 5 years & still fine. I run mine until the lack of charge starts dirtying up the sound then recharge. I would replace it if lost or stolen. No need for bigger amp for full band show, Just mike the thing I& run thru PA. Maybe put a multi FX pedel, depending on your song list. Think EZ, Light, flexable, inexpensive & back saver if your a LP player. I use Fender Deluxe Stratocaster, Washburn Idol WI64DL & Les Paul Special Humbucker with it, ideal for all guitars. Use your guitar Volume & tone knobs for more tailored sounds.

Purchased this for a little accoustic amplification outdoors. It does that but not much more. Turning up the volume does little good for an accoustic guitar because of the 'buzz'. This might be okay for a blues player that needs some dirt but not for an accoustic guitar. Other reviews say they use headphones but why do that when with a simple app and a $30.00 adapter I can plug my strat into my phone and use headphones with a much better sound?

Comments about Pignose Hog 20 Amp:

I have always wanted to own a Pignose and now I have one! Gotta say, for the money, you can't beat it! Nice and solid feeling, pretty thick sound for a rechargeable. I use it as a practice amp on the patio. I have a Digitech RP150 and a Silvertone Les Paul knockoff that adds a different dimension to the sound. Gives it that garage rock feel. I'll mic it and BOOM!! Can't go wrong for the money, just play with it and you'll see. A must have for the price!

I use this amp to play Harmonica and it sounds great. I use a Shure model 520dx mic and play outdoors a lot. It is easy to use and I really like the fact that it is portable and rechargeable.

Comments about Pignose Hog 20 Amp:

Do not let the amp sit too long (2 or 3 months) without recharging the battery as the battery will die and will not recharge. It holds good charge though and last will long on a charge while using.

      Pignose Knows Best!!

      By Toni Valarezo

      from Miami, FL

Comments about Pignose Hog 20 Amp:

I use a Korg Pandora Mini multi effects processing unit to achieve a large spectrum of sounds. That is another unit that I recommend guitar players to use to compliment the sound and functionality of this Pignose Hog 20 amplifier. The Hog handles pedals very well, as I also unit a Biyang Compressor Unit and an Electro Harmonix Linear Boost Unit (both seperately). I have not tried a Distortion or High Gain pedal unit to achieve METAL-esk sounds but I am very sure (almost to a certainty) that this amplifier can handle it. I hope that my review has helped guitarists make an informed decision about this product. It is a very practical and inspiring product that EVERY guitarist should have as a practice aid. Good luck to all of you on your musical and technical guitar journeys! Peace!
Ok, so let me begin by telling y'all what this amp does. The Pignose Hog 20 is a RECHARGEABLE amplification unit that does what it is supposed to do; produces a clean sound. This sound is very clear and articulate. I will be yet another reviewer that mentions this amp's strong suit is it's CLEAN setting. The amplifier also has a TONE knob to adjust the brightness of the sound, as well as a SQUEAL knob to add an OVERDRIVE voice to the sound. This SQUEAL knob IS NOT a distortion knob. It is best used as a clean boost or to add a small amount of GRIT to the sound. If you are looking for a GAIN suited amplifier, this unit is NOT for you. If you are looking for an amplifier that inspires you to create and play than look no further. This amp is for you!
This amplifier is 100% portable. Once the unit is fully charged one can easily take it to a park, garden, school, play ground, lake, beach, or ANY place that does not have an electrically input. Be warned; the juice on this unit only lasts for 8 hours so plan accordingly. The amplifier is very sturdy. Though it is small and compact, and can easily fit into the trunk of a car, it is somewhat heavy (weighing at about 15-20 pounds; maybe less). I can not attest to it's long term functionality for I have only owned it for a week.
This amplifier is a STEAL! Its value and practical use far exceeds its cost. My only criticism of this product is that it takes 4-5 hours to charge in the wall before use. This is not an overwhelming disadvantage, only a point worth mentioning to potential buyers.

      Pignose Hog 20 Model #7-200

Comments about Pignose Hog 20 Amp:

      5 Stars
This little amp with the 6-1/2 inch speaker really delivers. It provideds a nice clean or warm tone depending upon how you set the Squeal and the Tone dials. This amp provides a couple of features, which is why I purchase; 115 VAC and 12 VDC so I can use it at home and where power isn't available. My tube amp is idle while I play with this and it is being very enjoyable learning what this amp can do. It is working very well with my Jimi Hendrix Wah and my Metal Muff w/ Top Boost, which allow me to dial in my tone a little more. For the price you can't beat this amp with a stick and I highly recommend it to anyone that needs this unquic power capability. A great little amp for the price.... Well designed, solid, excellent quality, and fun to play with.

The best money I have ever spent on an amp, practice or studio....

      Gotta love the little piggy

      By gamjamm

Comments about Pignose Hog 20 Amp:

Don't think this amps 20 watts will be loud. My Jca22h 20w will bury this amp on less than 1. Most 15w and some 10w amps will out do the pig by a long shot[even a 5 watt tube amp] The pig does'nt have a lot of clean headroom either but it's enough for what it's for. It has a decent crunch and distorts easily with humbuckers at higher volume. I don't personally care for the "squeal" knob.Too much "odd" harmonics. What its good for is that it's rechargeable, super portable, and the charge lasts a good bit with the dual beefy battery packs in the back. You can take this anywhere and play. No electric....no problem. And that's a good thing.
The best feature is the built in battery packs that can be recharged. Lasts quite a while on a charge too.
Well built. Feels and looks solid.
You can buy a Fender champion 600 tube amp for the same money or a Fender frontman 25 for less but they're either much larger and you have to have juice to run them. So the value ain't bad for what the pignose gives you.

      Just Incredible!

      By WildEndeavor

Comments about Pignose Hog 20 Amp:

I use my Pignose Hog 20 daily. I take it everywhere on the airplane stuffed inside my duffle bag, and it still looks like new. I use the headphones a lot, so I can go MONTHS at a time between charges. Paired with my Schecter C-1 Artist, I have a lot of tone variations to toy with. The thing is tough, sounds good, and I could not be more pleased with a product. Thanks Pignose!

      Good bedroom amp, nothing more

      By Greyback

      from Ypsi, MI

Comments about Pignose Hog 20 Amp:

I baught this amp about three years ago and at first was pretty impressed. Rechargible, light, but still pretty loud for 20W. The clean setting on this amp is good...until about 5 or 6, then there's this really annoying buzzing when low notes are played. Obviously, that made me dislike the amp quite a bit, and it gets worse with pedals in front of it. At low volumes, this thing can get great distortion out of a pedal; the cab is good for recording too just stick the mic in the back and shred. I mainly baught this for a bedroom use, but I think it's time to sell it since tubes are my game now and there's better for the money. If you want a practice amp for blues and don't want to lug around huge cabs and such, get this.
