Comments about Randall RG1003H 100W Solid State Guitar Head:

Needed an inexpensive head to replace an expensive tube head that died on me. After playing with it for a little while I got it sounding pretty good. The clean and overdriven channels all sound good. Took some tweaking. I like having the 3 channels. I've been a tube guy for many years, and this is not a tube amp. It does lack the warmth of a tube head. I would not do any professional recording with it, and it's not as loud as some of the reviews led me to believe. Overall, though, you can't beat the price. It's fine for the types of gigs that I play. It would be a great head for the young metalhead on a budget. Or like me, an old metalhead on a budget.

Comments about Randall RG1003H 100W Solid State Guitar Head:

Best solid state amp I have ever played through or owned. Tons of gain, thanks to the new Mike Fortin beefed up Randall designs. Built like a tank, loud as Hades, awesome when combined with a noise suppressor. Tight, warm, immediate and articulate response. Just fantastic if you're searching for one super heavy tone. Very easy to dial in. It's a ten, and I'll most likely level up to their latest tube offerings to see what havoc they can create in my world. Also I have to add that the staff at MF were extremely helpful and my item arrived in perfect working condition, kudos to Randall and MF! Satisfied!

HEAVY METAL THUNDER! If your looking for loud, bone-crushing tone, this amp delivers! I play Priest and Metallica and this amp is easy to dial-in. Heavy lows, not muddy. High gains are very good. Coupled with the RG412 cab, you can't go wrong.

this amp is an amazing solid state amp I highly reconmend this to anyone on a budget I use this amp and the peavey supreme 160 both solid state and have a killer tone all the way from doom metal "c standered" to metal like metallica and slayer. one other thing the amp is really light the shipping weight was 41 pounds but the peavey was 10 pounds more! love this amp thinks randall!!!

Comments about Randall RG1003H 100W Solid State Guitar Head:

Sounds great and is a great deal (plus no extra expenses like new tubes or maintenance for tube amps).

The cleans are nice with a bright switch for versatility but that channel can be a little quiet when switching from humbuckers to single coils.

Channel two has plenty of gain for some serious riffing yet is extremely clear and open. Channel three has a little more gain and volume but the main difference between it and channel two is the amount of saturation. Two is very clear and articulate but three is more saturated but not necessarily muddy. This thing is louder than I'll probably ever need and will last me a long time.

I have had a lot of high quality tube amps in the last 2 years and this is right up there with the best! Huge balls! Its hard to get a bad sound with its very useable EQ. It has a great warm crunch and the bass boost is great if you like that speaker shaking low end like me.

Great amp I bought it with the matching 2x12 cab and pairs up great. Many years ago I had an original RG100es and it was my main amp for about 10 years. Having this new RG1003 is great three useable channels and reverb is nice. I put my delay, chorus etc. in the effects loop and it sounds great. Tons of options on this amp including headphone, 1/8 input for an ipod and a direct out XLR for a PA make it a true gem for a low price. FET Distortion sounds great to my ear and is really reliable too...
