I would love to get a Framus or an Engl or even some Marshall power going on but I have bills to pay and I had to buy in this price range. At 1st I wasn't happy with the overall sound and it took 2 years to get a pedal chain figured out to get some solid tone out of it.I run it thru a Marshall cab with 4 vin 30's. It used to clip at high volume until I added a Homebrew power screamer and a Sonic stomp. It now has a tight focused sound, tons of usable gain and bottom end and will keep up with any of the Marshalls in my band. Onboard effects are suprizingly good. Clean channel is sparkly but you have to really roll off the bass. Twin gains are really cool too. I was ready to replace this until I figured it out but now I love it! Take the time to change to a 12ax7 Tung-sol tube and figure out your pedals and this thing will blow you away....not just "for the money".....It will rock as hard as the tone-snobs uber expensive amps for thousands less.

This is my 3rd RH150!!! The first one caught on fire, when replaced the clean channel sounded like fuzz and the amp completely cut out at level 5!! When send a new one, when the distortion channel was engaged, you get a crazy fuzz feedback (with guitar volume off) and the amp cuts out at level 6!!!! Dont make the mistake that I did, so far I had three of these amps and all three cut out half way up!! Its really embarrasing during a gig to have your amp just shut off! It cant even keep up with my lead guitarist 100w marshall, save your money and buy something worth it.

Cuts out but fixed the problem

By Rowco

from Indianapolis, IN

I'm starting to like this amp more now that I have it figured out. If it's cutting out on you, it's probably your cab. The amp pushes 4 ohms and I was using my Laney cab at 16ohms which drastically lowers the volume. Therefore it stresses the amp more and it'll cut out. Since then though, I've rewired my cab to 4 ohms and now this thing is a beast. My only real complaint is that the effects loop is not footswitchable. The footswitch turns your onboard FX on and off and there's only really one or two (delay+reverb) that I'd use in a live setting.

Disappointed

I love randall heads but when I got this I was so disappointed to hear the low bass thunder and cutting out at the slightest power chord on the low strings. It is ridiculous; I had to take it to get fixed after playing it once. Save until you can spend your money on a nice tube amp. Don't cheap out like I did and get a solid state for half the price.

Covers it all

This head has the best of both worlds. You get great tone from the tube and can go from rich clean sounds to heavy distortion which is still articulate. For the money, this thing rocks. I really like the effects. I've never had mine past 4 because it has so much power. It's from Randall so it is built like a tank.

Cant Crank..Cutting Out

By PanteraFan

from Southern California

I had heard a lot of great reviews on this amp, so I figured I would try it out. First off it has an incredible amount of bass, I love having a heavy ass low end, but most of its UN usable because when playing at jam levels it will cut out. (Main volume about 6) The effects sound great for on board effects, but I rarely use effects on amps. I?ve played with it for hours and still can?t get it to match up to other amps (in its price range) volume wise. Again it will cut out. Id say great amp if only it could cut through when jamming with a band. If I could I would have bought the 300 watt model....as the "150" watts I?ve witnessed from this amp don?t really cut it. Just trying to help...

Best High Gain Head for the Price Range

By JacksonGuitarsForever

I play this head through a Randall r412cx and a Randall r412cxm and it sounds great for the price. I have had it for a year with no problems. This amp has great crushing gain, more than any other amp in this price range and some more expensive heads. However I am still not quite satisfied with my sound and am saving up for the Randall V2 400 watt Hybrid. Don't get me wrong I have no regrets about buying this amp whatsoever, I just want to upgrade my sound.

This Randall is a beast

By Fleshfries

from Massachussets

I got this about 2 months ago, and I was blown away. This thing is perfect for the style of music I play [Decapitated, Suffocation, Nile, etc]. I never had a bass problem, in my opinion it's leveled perfectly. I love how bright the clean channel is, and how disgusting the distortion is...this is clearly the best for its price.

Pretty Decent

I bought this amp right before Christmas and never saw it till beginning of February I ordered it through a local dealer and the order got lost. At first I was mad but when they knocked money off and agreed to give me the model with the effects on it I cooled down a bit. This amp can take a beating I've hauled it all over the area and dropped it in a parking lot once theres a few rocks embedded in the front but it plays great. It plenty loud but there's a lot of bass. The distortion is decent but i plan on getting something to boost it when I have some spare cash.

does anyone else's cut out?

By jonMYRIAD

from Scranton, PA

Man i'll tell ya, this amps sounds beautiful. The effects sound great and the gain and tone are phenominal. The only drawbacks are that it has a little too much bass(even turned all the way to 0), and what absolutely pisses me off is that once turned up past maybe the 2 o'clock position it completely cuts out. And that's on the gain channel with the level all the way up. On the clean channel I cant turn up the channel level past the 1 o'clock position without it cutting out. I play in a hardcore/metal band and normally don't get mike'd at shows so I need the amp power but what good is a 150 watt amp if you can only use 100?
