I would love to get a Framus or an Engl or even some Marshall power going on but I have bills to pay and I had to buy in this price range. At 1st I wasn't happy with the overall sound and it took 2 years to get a pedal chain figured out to get some solid tone out of it.I run it thru a Marshall cab with 4 vin 30's. It used to clip at high volume until I added a Homebrew power screamer and a Sonic stomp. It now has a tight focused sound, tons of usable gain and bottom end and will keep up with any of the Marshalls in my band. Onboard effects are suprizingly good. Clean channel is sparkly but you have to really roll off the bass. Twin gains are really cool too. I was ready to replace this until I figured it out but now I love it! Take the time to change to a 12ax7 Tung-sol tube and figure out your pedals and this thing will blow you away....not just "for the money".....It will rock as hard as the tone-snobs uber expensive amps for thousands less.

This is my 3rd RH150!!! The first one caught on fire, when replaced the clean channel sounded like fuzz and the amp completely cut out at level 5!! When send a new one, when the distortion channel was engaged, you get a crazy fuzz feedback (with guitar volume off) and the amp cuts out at level 6!!!! Dont make the mistake that I did, so far I had three of these amps and all three cut out half way up!! Its really embarrasing during a gig to have your amp just shut off! It cant even keep up with my lead guitarist 100w marshall, save your money and buy something worth it.

I'm starting to like this amp more now that I have it figured out. If it's cutting out on you, it's probably your cab. The amp pushes 4 ohms and I was using my Laney cab at 16ohms which drastically lowers the volume. Therefore it stresses the amp more and it'll cut out. Since then though, I've rewired my cab to 4 ohms and now this thing is a beast. My only real complaint is that the effects loop is not footswitchable. The footswitch turns your onboard FX on and off and there's only really one or two (delay+reverb) that I'd use in a live setting.
I got this about 2 months ago, and I was blown away. This thing is perfect for the style of music I play [Decapitated, Suffocation, Nile, etc]. I never had a bass problem, in my opinion it's leveled perfectly. I love how bright the clean channel is, and how disgusting the distortion is...this is clearly the best for its price.
If you play metal or anything hard this is the head for you. The dirt on this thing sounds like its coming straight off the George Lynch hookup. The effects are very well controlled and accurate. This thing sounds as good as a good Digitech ran into a good PAI cant even find the words to express just how hard this thing ROCKS!I have tryed to find screwups and i just cant find any that warrant complaining. If you have your level and gain all the way up on either dirt channel it will hum a bit when your just standing there but this is so minor that it just dont matter.Randall for sure has fixed all of the gain idiosyncracies and has put the Mesa and Marshall chess teams in HARDCORE CHECK with the new Randall toys! This is proof that Randall makes product from pride while others make as a direct result of ego.BUY THIS AND YOU WILL BE A HAPPY METALHEAD!
This thing is a monster.I'm gonna have to nail everything in my jam room down. It's knocking everything off the walls!! I've been playing for over 20 yrs And i've been searching all over for this sound. It's got that deep crunch all metal heads crave. Yet it's not muddy. The clean channel sounds great too and even has a boost on the 4 button footswitch.Don't be dicouraged about it only being 150 watts. This head is easily capable of pulling off any gig. If you want an amazing sounding head at a great price , you won't find one better. I'd put money on it!!
I was a little dismayed when this amp head arrived and the box had "MADE IN CHINA" printed on it. But I will tell you, this amp is amazing. The Valve Dynamic system sounds amazing and truely simulates real tube. Additionally, the onboard effects are very nice and the included 4-button footswich makes switching between effects very easy. I recommend this amp to any gigging or jamming musician.
I just tried this head and it has some power. It HAS A LOT OF BASS. The bass was on 2 or 3 and the sound ran together. I turned it down to 1 and it sounded great. I had the master volume on 2 and it was loud enough. I am going to purchase the RH300 though. Great head for the price.
Man i'll tell ya, this amps sounds beautiful. The effects sound great and the gain and tone are phenominal. The only drawbacks are that it has a little too much bass(even turned all the way to 0), and what absolutely pisses me off is that once turned up past maybe the 2 o'clock position it completely cuts out. And that's on the gain channel with the level all the way up. On the clean channel I cant turn up the channel level past the 1 o'clock position without it cutting out. I play in a hardcore/metal band and normally don't get mike'd at shows so I need the amp power but what good is a 150 watt amp if you can only use 100?
The G2 series kicked ass before hand and now with the new MOSFAT tube power circut, you get even more tone than before with lots of kick to it. I had the privilage of using one of these heads at my local music store when they first came in and I gotta say, they're great. Not only do they give you loads of gain but they give you digital effects in there too! The only reason I gave Features a 9 is because a 10 would be their MTS series where you can customize the sound of your three different channels to whatever the hell you want! But for this price, you not only get a great sounding 150 watt head, you get 150 watts of the best solid state distortion ever heard with the juiceyness of tube tone. Recommended for everyone that loves metal or wants that old british sound. Truely a great amp.
I love randall heads but when I got this I was so disappointed to hear the low bass thunder and cutting out at the slightest power chord on the low strings. It is ridiculous; I had to take it to get fixed after playing it once. Save until you can spend your money on a nice tube amp. Don't cheap out like I did and get a solid state for half the price.
I play this head through a Randall r412cx and a Randall r412cxm and it sounds great for the price. I have had it for a year with no problems. This amp has great crushing gain, more than any other amp in this price range and some more expensive heads. However I am still not quite satisfied with my sound and am saving up for the Randall V2 400 watt Hybrid. Don't get me wrong I have no regrets about buying this amp whatsoever, I just want to upgrade my sound.
