Comments about Randall Thrasher 120W 4-Mode All-Tube Amplifier Head:

This amp has great head room and a lot of versatility, good deep bass and depth, but I haven't quite found my tone yet. it seems a little harsh and a little too focused as far as tone goes. A focused sound is great and you don't want muddy spungy sludge coming out of your speakers when you down tune etc, but it suffers from a lack of touch sensitivity and sustain that you love tube amps for. This actually seems to play more like a solid state and if you have experience with both types you know exactly what I mean. Its not a bad amp, I probably just need to figure out how to tweeak it to my taste. Its just that with the hype of Fortin engineering Ive been dissapointed so much so that I just went back to playing my Line 6 with Bogner tube technology.

Comments about Randall Thrasher 120W 4-Mode All-Tube Amplifier Head:

Bought this as an Open Box item in Mint Condition, and all though the boxes were torn and tattered,
the Amp Head was in perfect shape. Not sure why someone had to return the head, but the foot pedal
was crushed a little, so there may have been some damage at one point. Anyway, the Thrasher 120W
is working just fine, and I'm very pleased with the sounds I'm getting with different pedal configurations.
Someone said it was hard to dial in the sound they wanted, but it took me very little time to dial in some
great tones. It is a versatile amp that can range from a rich clean tone, to an ear blowing distorted Monster. I've been playing a long time, and I'm kicking my self for never getting a Stack like this!
My Fender Blues Deville 212 is going to be cold and lonely for a while, because I can dial in the tones I've always been looking for with this Thrasher and a few pedals.

If you can't spend the time to dail it in, its not for you.

Comments about Randall Thrasher 120W 4-Mode All-Tube Amplifier Head:

You need to spend some time adjusting the amp to fit your needs. Its not a set everything at noon and it sounds perfect all the time type of amp. It reacts to different guitars, and different tunings. It freaking awesome. I love this amp. It really is extremely versatile.

Comments about Randall Thrasher 120W 4-Mode All-Tube Amplifier Head:

It's a good quality product, super loud, heavy, and seems well built. But it's not at all what I was expecting knowing this is a "metal" amp, and the people who play it and the reviews I was expecting super high gain. The gain was way below the levels I thought and I had it maxed out. The mids are also out of control on this amp and very hard to reign in. I got some decent sounds out of it after a very long while of trying to dial it in. But at the end of the day I returned it. I couldn't find a good heavy tone out of it that I really liked and I didn't want to start having to add all kinds of pedals to get there.

Comments about Randall Thrasher 120W 4-Mode All-Tube Amplifier Head:

Great great amp that gets a bad rap from people who can't figure it out or write if off too quickly. I have played live and at home/recording and it always delivers for me. If you want surgical tight clear Metal this amp delivers. But it takes time to get to know the controls...how the high/low gain knobs work etc. I use both the boost function and at times employ a separate OD pedal for more sustain. It shines either way. It is super sensitive to different speakers, pickups, pedals, processors, etc. But for me once I learned kind of how the amp operated I was very very happy. It does not offer super boomy bottom end so if you want that go another direction. It has nice penetrating mids that slice thru a band mix if dialed correctly. My bandmates rave about it all the time. As I previously stated it kills at the precise articulate shredding thing. I love mine want to try the 50 watt sometime as well :)
