This is my second SKB pedalboard, the first lasted me more than 10 years. The design is spare, but functional and these seemed to have engineered their way out of some of the failings of the previous design, e.g., the superfluous ports and hex nuts that collapsed into the housing. I have some after-market velcro that I use on the board bed and all eight effects stay nice and tight. The single biggest complaint (and hit to the rating) is the lousy GVE power supply. The one that shipped produced a high whine that was totally unacceptable and perceptible even over the drums and guitar at volume one I used my distortion. It took several e-mails and some unnecessary troubleshooting with SKB to convince them to ship a replacement power supply, which they did for free. The second unit has no whine or hum and the PS-8 works as intended.

I've had this pedal board for nearly a year now. It would be perfectly fine except for one fact. SKB switched suppliers for the AC Adapter, the one that comes with it now is HORRIBLE. It causes a loud buzzing that just kills the sound. The other guitarist in my band has the same board, same pedals, we tried his adapter, the buzz goes. He has the older one....I called SKB, their customer service is very nice. They sent me another of the same adapter for free, but it has the same problem.

Also one of the zippers on the bag has broken already. Seems to be cheap quality.

This would be a great board but SKB seems to be knowingly shipping out poor quality adapters and do not have a solution for it. They want me now to send in my board for a new one. The problem is with the adapter not the board!!

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I bought this Stupid Deal and regret it. It is very noisy unless you open it up and repair loose wiring. The Velcro sticks to the board but won't stay on your pedals at all, leaving a gooey mess on the bottom of the pedals. The pedals will not stay in place and will end up piled on the bottom of the case if you travel any where.
The carrying case feels like it is going to fall apart and mine has. If you don't need to move the pedal board it will serve its purpose.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

Board is nice size and weight and is attractive looking, but I got an electronic squeal through my amp when I used. I put batteries in all my effects pedals and no noise or squeal. I then bought a T-Rex power supply. Very quiet. All power channels isolated. Will build my own board and use T-rex supply.

Don't waste your money

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I bought this last spring and had issues immediately. If you are a beginner to expanding guitar effects, it's the perfect learner's device, but the sound quality is terrible and it's manufactured very sloppily. The first thing I noticed when I plugged it in to my Fender Deluxe Tube amp is that there was a high pitched buzzing that never goes away so long as your instrument is plugged into a pedal that's being powered by the pedal board. It's almost as though the circuitry is being picked up audibly by the tube amp. This makes recording Direct Input with this pedal board impossible. It sounds terrible. After that, one of the power sources just stopped working one day, the connection to the outlet only works if you plug the adapter in at a strange angle, and the carrying case's handle snapped while I was walking.Terrible product. Save an extra $100 dollars and buy a better version.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I basically threw away money buying this pedal. I dont normally write reviews, but since I wish I had read them before I purchased this thing, Im leaving one. The whole point of this board was to hold the few pedals I have and power them on a small board which is all i needed. well, as soon as i hooked it up, i had the most terrible hiss, i couldnt even play over it. so after trouble shooting i realized it was the power supply causing the noise. so i bought a voodoo labs power supply to run my pedals hiss free and it does an excellent job. the only problem is now that i have to put the power supply on the board, i cant use my basic pedal set up, and i dont use a lot so the few i do have are necessary for me. so now i will be getting rid of this junk and will be reading reviews before every purchase i make in the future.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I'm a bass player and wanted something to hold my toys. the board itself is cool.....but the CASE they give you should NEVER be used. The .05 cent zipper is ready to break with a breath and the opening faces down when the handle or strap is being used.
Considering SKB normally makes OK Cases this shocked me.
The fact they even give this bag away is unconscionable considering the weight and cost of what its going to hold when loaded.
The Boards fine... but when you buy it do yourself a favor and throw the bag/case out. dropping all your favorite pedals due to bad design and junk zipper anit worth it.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I initially liked the integrated approach of this design with the inbuilt power distribution, cary case, 8 pedal capacity and all at a reasonable price compared to other pedalboards.

However once I received it, I was very disappointed with the overall quality of the unit. The power supply was very noisy particularly with my Line 6 Echo Park which made the power supply unusable for this pedal. The connectors are of very low quality - both on the power supply and also the power leads to the pedals - and during my first use, the power supply connector to the board broke rendering the whole board useless. This is definitely not a product for anyone doing any level of gigging and needs their stuff to work night after night.

MF did me a solid and allowed me to swap this out to a higher priced board and separate power supply that hopefully is a little more robust and less noisy - I guess you get what you pay for...

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

This compact powered pedalboard is ok for a first effects setup, or a home studio board that isn't moved around for gigs. The bag is junk, the input jacks for the pedal cables are poorly constructed, and the AC adapter cable is too small for the input on the board. On the positive side, the board itself feels pretty solid, the power works well and is reasonably quiet, and it's small enough to fit in a cramped home studio or crowded rehearsal space. This board provides up to 500 milliamps of power and comes with velcro strips you can cut to fit your pedals which helps secure them to the board.

This pedal board is pretty straight forward. It's nice has a good design with the whole board being Velcro, and works just fine. With all the negative reviews, what do you expect? This pedal board is a good small size for someone who doesn't have too many pedals and the feature that powers the pedal built into it is great. It's a great pedal board for the standard home user, don't expect this to be road worthy.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

Bad product from a quality company, simple as that.
Like someone else said, this board is just too noisy to use with anything other than bang around at-home solid state rigs. A fundamental lack of grounding somewhere.
The only thing worse would be if is actively caught fire.
You get what you pay for -- got mine for $40. Barely worth it as a surface to which I run OTHER power.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I have had this pedal board for almost a year now. I gave it an average rating because it's, well... average. It will serve its purpose of housing pedals and allowing you to get your power supplies down to one source. There is some noise, especially if your wiring in your home isn't great. I had no problems, but I hve read that some people have had issues with noise. I did have to open it up and resolder the hot lead back into the power adapter jack. I went to engage my wah and the whole board went dead and came back on... I imagine if this wire was soldered poorly that there could be other issues with quality as well. If you're having power issues or noise - check the solering and make sure it's all solid. Could be a bad ground connection.

Anyway, like I said, it's a decent pedal board. The adhesive on the velcro doesn't stick to any of my pedals... The velcro is stronger than the adhesive. The inclusion of a 9v battery to 9v ac adapter cable was very nice!! I have a Sovtek Big Muf Pi that eats 9v batteris... not a problem anymore though.

this board is really great, and the power supply is awesome. It had no trouble powering up 8 pedals. It just had trouble housing 8 pedals! Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

Not too big, not too small, just right.

The body is made of rugged plastic.

Fits in tight quarters, but can hold a lot of pedals.

My only gripe, and hence the 4 star rating: The carrying case has an outside pouch for extra cables and such. They put the zipper on the top of the pouch, as you are looking at the bag. Problem is, you flip the bag open, kind of like a hood on a car, and now the zipper is on the bottom. So as you are packing up the pedal board, everything that is in the pouch spills out.

I was loading it up to go to the studio, and had to stop several times to repack everything. Not a big deal if you know EXACTLY what you want to bring, can load up the pouch and zip it shut first. But if you are like me, and constantly thinking of things to add or subtract, it gets to be annoying. Had the zipper been on the side, it would've worked better for me.

The board is what you would expect. Fine for home and occasional light duty gigs. All the terrible reviews about the AC adapter are spot on. The adapter is noisy. Used another higher quality one we had at the house. SKB must have brought a pile of these awful adapters into inventory, or they would have substituted by now. Plan to replace the unit that comes with the board.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

First the good: Plenty of real estate on this thing. It is BIG. I guess this could be a negative as well. This thing easily holds 8 standard sized pedals or 6 and a wah. The electrical components seem to be pretty decent. Now the bad: The hook and loop material on the boar itself starts to fall apart as soon as you try to reposition the pedals with the industrial strength velcro tape. It also pulls away from the board. Very low quality fabric. The bag they give you absolutely sucks. Absolutely lame on the padding. Offers no real protection. I picked up the bag by the handle and the handle ripped right off of the bag. Called SKB and they sent me a new bag (good customer service but apparently the handle ripping off must not be uncommon). What I didn't notice until tonight is that when the board dropped to the ground after the handle broke, the board split open (the screw holes broke) from the impact. Horrible. Possible fixes (other than the cracking of the board which I guess I'll have to get some heavy duty glue to repair): Remove the fabric that they use to cover the board and replace it with some HEAVY DUTY indoor/outdoor carpeting from your bigblock hardware store. Next, buy some 2" thick foam rubber and line the bag with it to give the pedalboard some protection. Once you've done that, THEN you'll have a decent powered pedalboard. Of course, by then, you've added another $20 to $30 in materials onto the price of the thing just to get it to be IMHO the way it should have been built in the first place. In the sub $100 price point, there aren't many choices out there. I wish there were more options. I'm beginning to think that the best alternative is to make your own.
