This esteemed series now welcomes a new addition; the AC4HW1 mini combo amp. The Volume control, Bass and Treble tone controls, and Master Volume provide any player with plenty of sonic variety. The HOT/COOL switch offers either the coveted VOX Top Boost tone, or a pure and rich gain that bypasses the tone circuit completely. Comments about Vox AC4HW 1 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have never spent this much on an amp before so I was a little unsure of myself when I did. It is a great amp and VERY versatile as well. Volume and gain, treble and bass so it is a simple layout but it definitely has an AC sounding tone stack for that glassy and chimey tone. The hot cold switch takes it from traditional voicing to high gain territory, adding to it's versatility. The Greenback is a good choice of speaker but like all Celestion's takes a while to break in properly.

I have found it loud enough for practice if everyone agrees to a little bit lower volume threshold and it really sounds nice when it is running hot. It is loud enought to get over the drums in my group but just barely. To my ears the amp sounds it's best when the volume is at about 3 o'clock and the gain is adjusted to taste. Above that I find it really difficult to get a clean sound at all and VOX amps sound soooo nice when they're clean!

I feel the hand wired aspect of it gives it better tone and a soother transition from clean to crunch than other amps I have played and, with everything I've mentioned earlier, makes it worth the money!

Comments about Vox AC4HW 1 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

If you are a fan of the legendary Vox AC30 Chimey tone and are looking for the perfect practice/recording amp look no farther! I have been waiting for musicians friend to carry this one but had to end up special ordering through my local Guitar Center. I did replace the speaker for a 12" alnico blue to give more of the authentic tone. The clean and drive tones are exquisite but there is no built in reverb which is fine with me. Opening up the back requires the removal of tons of back-panel screws. If a valve ever dies at a show or recording session, you would spend a half hour just getting to it. I hope you enjoy this thing as much as I do!

Comments about Vox AC4HW 1 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I love this amp. I was skeptical at first when reading reviews. A 4 amp combo at this
Price? But when I plugged it in I was in awe. It is even better than the
Glowing reviews suggest. And it is very loud for a 4 amp, surprisingly loud. Sounds great with an ibanez tube screamer. I have absolutely no regrets.

Comments about Vox AC4HW 1 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

35 years of rock and blues. I have owned many amps over the years and since I no longer gig I currently own 8 amps, all 30 watts or less, all tube. I have a great recording studio set up at home. Without a doubt, my favorite amp to record with is this Vox. Beautiful clean tones and the BEST over driven tube sound out there IMO. I can crank this amp and my ears do not bleed. It is loud enough to keep up with a drummer so if I were to gig, I would feel fine with it. If needed I could mic it through the PA. No need for dirt pedals with this but it does take pedals well.

A close 2nd is my Fender Bassbreaker 007 combo. Between the Vox and the Bassbreaker I really don't need any other amps but since the one with the most toys wins.....
