Finally...

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Classic AC30 chime with a flamethrower drive channel and 50W of EL34 joy. Incredibly flexible tone shaping and an effects loop. The Wharfdale speakers actually really sing with the extra 20W over an AC30. Master volume keeps it reasonable, but it shines when wide open. I use a 72 Tele Deluxe, Hagstrom Deluxe F, and a 60s Fender Strat. I usually run a boost, but hardly ever a drive pedal. My favorite tone so far is with the gain on Channel 1 at about 9 o'clock, EQ mostly flat with slight boost to the treble and bass, tone cut at 9 o'clock, and both channel volume and master volume cranked... delightful. Actually the same settings on Channel 2 are great for a thick but defined crunch. No regrets here.

Vox AC50 CP2

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had my Vox AC50 CP2 for about a year now. One reason I got it is that it has line out capability, for recording directly into a computer. Besides that, it is an impressive sounding amp. Channel one delivers a very AC30 type sound, with a little more gain and crunch available if you need it. Channel two offers more modern high gain capability. Channel two was also designed, I have read, to behave like a vintage, non master volume control amp. You do this by rolling down the gain, and bringing up the channel volume and master volume. It's really a third sound option, and my favorite. Channel two also has a fatness switch, which helps expand the sound of my single coil Telecaster, and a brightness switch, which can help humbuckers cut through the mix. It's easy to get a variety of big classic tube sounds out of this amp.

WOW Sparkling Clean, Face Melting Drive

By KidTiger75

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking to down size from my Orange Half Stack to a combo amp. I wanted a combo with a Great clean tone that also had a second channel that would some drive to it. I had a hard time finding this. The fenders clean was amazing but the overdrive channel (if they have one) was like the sound of clanking cans. The mesa and marshall had all the Rock n roll punch but I was not sold on the clean. The Orange combo is way over priced. I was worried I would not find this perfect combo until I came across the Vox 50 classic combo. This amp is perfect for me. The only down side is it does not come with caster, this is a problem because it ways about 76lbs.I was also held back by the idea of the amp being made in china but its hard to get way from that these days. In my opinion it is well made. This is just my opinion , The amp was a perfect fit for me. I tried the fenders and have owned Mesa, Marshall, orange and laney amps. All had there strengths but this was the best fit for me. This is not a bash on those other brands.Bottom line: Sparkling clean and Face melting drive...Try One

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is really amazing. You get a Birch ply cab, 2 x 12" Greenback clones, and a pair of EL 34's that make it sound like a Plexi 50 watt. The clean and all the Vox chime of the AC30 and it's own gain and volume controls, and the gain channel has fat and bright switchs. Plenty of jacks on back, line out, effects loop, ext speaker jack and 8/16 ohm switch. When I crank the master volume and lower the channel volume and gain, you can hear the EL 34's character come through, just like Marsall's tube amps. Lower the Master, crank the gain, crank the channel volume and you get more modern Marshall crunch. So it's like having 3 amps in one. Spring reverb is lush. Presence control on drive channel is a plus. Tone cut on clean channel is goofy, a reverse treble control. Mine ain't leaving the house! I also own several vinatge tube amps, Marshall and Fender, this is my first Vox tube amp. The added Marshall channel is really the reason I bought it. The Vox channel has the shimmering bell-like chime I was expecting too. Amp is extremely quiet when idling.

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I must say that it definately has it's own character. On Channel one I have been able to get everything from an AC-30 chime/jangle all the way to a 70s overdriven tube amp sound that absolutely is incredible. Channel two is insane. You can literally peel paint off of the walls. The volume level is crazy, but the DI feature w/independent volume control is extremly helpful. Now my two main gripes. First, the effects loop really needed to be footswitchable. The only way to defeat the effects loop is a switch on the back of the amp. Also on this subject a blend control might have been a nice touch. I have owned/used a large variety of Marshalls, fenders, mesa/boogies and many other amps over the years (25+) and most that had an effects loop had these two things standard. The second major gripe, is not anything that could really be changed. It weighs a freakin' ton, why not put casters on it?Overall, I am extremely pleased with it and use it during at least 2 gigs and 1 practice every week.

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I picked this amp up after realizing My Mesa Boogie DC-10 2x12 wasn't quite the right amp for me. I really prefer amps with El34 or EL84 tubes. They sound a little warmer to my ears than a 6L6 amp. Anyway, this Vox AC50CP2 amp has a really nice clean channel and its spring reverb really makes single note blues lines sound fantastic with loads of sustain. The distortion channel of this amp is very much like a vintage Marshall or Orange with enough crunch for classic rock, classic metal, or even punk. If you are into 7 string or detuned modern metal mayhem and covet that thick low end Krank/Boogie tone, then this amp won't be able to get you there without a metal muff or similar pedal. I really dig this amp's vintage looks. The included 2 button footswitch has a metal housing and seems pretty sturdy. This amp is made in China, but so is my little Epiphone Valve Jr. stack which I also love. I hope this Vox holds up as well as the Mesa Boogie I just sold, but only time will tell. The 3 handles on top of this combo make it easier to carry than some other 2x12 tube combos. It weighs just under 80lbs, so it's no light weight. It comes with an extension speaker jack on the back so you can always add another cab. This is one of the more affordable 50 watt tube amps out there. A Boogie,Orange, or Marshall of similar wattage will set you back at least 1-2+ grand, so give this amp a try... you may be pleasantly surprised that Vox has branched out from their AC30 roots and made an amp that can not only produce good cleans but can also play your favorite rock or punk tunes.

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I own a Mesa Dual rectifier head, A Mesa Boogie Recording Preamp with 50/50 power, a vintage Fender Super reverb and many others, and THIS is my current amp of choice! The cleans are extrordinary, like the Fender and the gain channel can range from blues to hard rock levels. The Fat boost even gets that Mesa Boogie low end growl!!! It does take some time to get everything dialed in, but it is very usable on all channels. I play a PRS custom 24 and this amp complinents it very well! I also use a full pedalboard with Carl Martin, Tubescreamer, Damage Control, and Radial Tone bone distortion/OD pedals and this amp takes all of them and it roars, purrs, or does just about anything I ask it to do. For you Metal heads, it may not be the amp of choice, but for you "Toneheads", that appreciate a pallette of tone, I highly reccomend it!

A great buy!

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

The best word to describe the the character of the amp is vicious!!! You can get sweet, sweet clean tones on channel one, but start picking more aggressively, and suddenly you've got a growling beast (in a good way) on your hands--without even turning up the volume on your guitar!! I can't get over how responsive this amp is to my picking fingers. On channel two, this thing turns into a super-monster. I can get such a wide variety of sounds by just slightly tweaking the eq.

Vox AC-50

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a tone machine. I've owned, played and used VOX before. This one meets the VOX standard. The Amp is made in China but it is definitely VOX parts. GREAT VOX sound! They did not miss. Good power. They only thing I miss the tremelo. Verb is good old fashion kind. Good deal for a working musicain. It's not the AC-30, but it is a VOX make no mistake about. Good vibe and jingle.

Great Amp!

Comments about Vox Classic Plus Series AC50CP2 50W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have owned this amp for about a year, and it blows me away every time i plug in. I play a Gibson Les Paul Studio through it, with the gain cranked on the first channel and it gives a nice classic rock type sound. The first channel i use most of the time, I use the second channel for soloing by giving it a little more pre-amp volume and easing back on the gain. In my opinion, with the gain past 12 o'clock on the second channel it gets kind of muddy. I gave it a 4 on quality because the grille cloth is starting to come off, but that's not really a big deal. i plan on pulling it back and just gluing it back on anyway.
